Will Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13095 Opening Sit Flush with Bumper on 1991 Nissan Pathfinder
Question:
1991 Nissan Pathfinder 2wd, 4d I would like to know more about the flexibility I will have when installing this hitch in terms of receiver depth relative to the bumper. On this model pathfinder, the license plate is sunk in relative to the rest of the bumper by about 3-5 inches, and there is a swinging spare mounted to the rear of the car. Ideally, I would like to have the receiver sit out flush with the rest of bumper so that I can clear the spare with a bike rack and give any trailer some room to move. Please comment on how this receiver installation might accommodate these design features. Thank you

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver, # C13095, is custom designed for your 1991 Nissan Pathfinder and uses existing holes in the vehicle frame for the rear mounting holes on the hitch. These holes must be used for installation so there isn't any flexibility when it comes to mounting location for the hitch.
In order to determine where the hitch opening will sit in comparison to the bumper on your Pathfinder, you will just need to measure 3-3/4 inches from the existing rear mounting holes in the frame toward the bumper. I am including a drawing to illustrate this measurement.
I have also included an article which covers measuring for spare tire clearance. With this measurement you can choose a bike rack or other towing components which would work best for your setup.
When it comes to a bike rack, you will want to choose one which has a greater distance from the hitch pin hole to the nearest part of the rack. This measurement is typically located in the specs section of the product page.
I am including a link to all of the bike carriers available for a 2 inch hitch receiver. If you would like to send me an email with your measurement, I would be happy to make a specific bike rack recommendation for you.
