How to Fix Rapid Flashing Blinkers on a 2004 Chevrolet Express After Switching to LED Lights

Question:

I replaced the original 4inch round standard tail/ break/ turn signal lights with two of these LED lights. Now when I use the turn signal it blinks like a light bulb is burned out and the cruise control does not work. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks for your help.

I don't know how the lights affect the cruise control feature on your 2004 Chevy Express van; the two seem unrelated unless they are on the same fuse. But I can explain what is going on with the flashing lights.

On some vehicles, if you switch to LED lights it sort of confuses the electrical system on the vehicle because LED lights draw much less power than incandescent lights. The vehicle basically behaves as if the bulb was burned out by rapidly flashing.

This is called hyper flash and it is easily fixed by installing load resistors, such as # DI34ZR, in line with the LED lights. The load resistor will simulate more draw on the circuit and fix the hyper flash problem.
