etrailer Cargo Bag

etrailer cargo bag

This water-resistant cargo bag lets you transport up to 9 cu ft of gear on your hitch-mounted cargo carrier. It's made of PVC-coated nylon to keep your gear clean and dry. It allows you to carry luggage, sports equipment, sleeping bags, and anything else that will fit inside. The soft bottom of the bag conforms to your cargo carrier for a secure fit. You can also use this bag in your truck bed, in your trunk or rear cargo area, or on your roof-mounted cargo carrier.

Water-Resistant Nylon with Watertight Seams

Water-Resistant fabric

This cargo bag is constructed of heavy-duty, PVC-coated nylon, so it's hard to cut or tear. If it does acquire a hole or tear, the ripstop material is designed to prevent the hole or tear from expanding. The bag is also water resistant so your cargo stays dry in rain and snow. And for added weather protection, the seams are fused together to create a watertight seal.

Large, Zippered Opening

Zippered opening Opened etrailer bag

A large, double-zippered opening on top of the bag makes it easy to load and unload your cargo. The zippers wrap around 3 sides so you can fully open the top. There is a flap with hook-and-loop fasteners that provides extra moisture protection for your cargo and helps protect the zipper from rust and corrosion. You can add a small padlock (131D - sold separately) to the zippers to secure the bag shut.

Nylon Tie-Down Straps

Tie-down straps Tie-down straps

Six nylon tie-down straps secure the bag to your hitch-mounted carrier or roof basket. Each strap attaches to one of the 6 integrated, reinforced buckle attachments on the bag. Simply feed the short end of the strap into the buckle attachment on the bag and loop the long end around the rail of your carrier. Pull it tight and tie the excess out of the way.

Foldable for Compact Storage

etrailer Hitch Cargo Carrier Bag Folded

You can fold this bag up for compact storage when it isn't being used.

Great value but not perfect. My rating reflects the fact that I beat up this bag pretty thoroughly last year. It was on the road with me for over three months of camping out of my car, from mountains to deserts to beaches. I like that it's lightweight and even partially full of gear I could lift it out of my cargo rack and stick it on a bench or the ground for extended campground stays. It kept my stuff dry and clean.

The shortcomings are pretty obvious. There's no way to secure your stuff. You can put a little luggage lock on the double zipper pulls, but a box cutter will open the top in a couple seconds. The tie down stops are fine but require lots of time to reattach if you take the bag off the rack. The little velcro loops that are supposed to secure the extra length of strap are worthless and tend to fall off and disappear when the straps aren't in use. The material is prone to pinholes and other damage. Just hold it up to strong light after a trip and you'll see what I mean. A little alcohol to clean the area and some duct tape or repair patches are fine to prevent the damage from getting worse. (Shrug) I'm not sure what color would be better than black... Maybe a high visibility yellow would help prevent possible rear ending? Black sure doesn't help keep the contents cool in 100 deg desert heat. And as you can see from my photo, looks like crap after a week on the road.

Would I buy it again? As an affordable soft bag to carry loose stuff in my cargo rack, ABSOLUTELY. Can I get it in yellow next time please?

It's always a good experience buying something from etrailer! The range and details of the products and level of information on the web site, from descriptions to videos, makes selecting the right item easy. The items I've bought have always been as expected and delivery has always been as advised. Overall they just get it right!

by:

Very nice bag. Good construction and heavy zippers. Also excellent value. I gave it four stars because the nylon tie down straps it comes with are a bit of a compromise. I have many bags, packs and totes. The good ones all use webbing or straps that are thick and densely woven. These are thin and have a loose weave.
I would happily spend an extra ten bucks for that upgrade.

by:

Just recieved. First impression is that it's rugged and well made. All features stated are correct and no bull it will last. A great value for price paid.

by:

Seems well made and heavy duty. Fits perfectly in my tray hauler. Holds a reasonable amount of stuff.

by:

For the price the quality of this item is unmatched, also did a fantastic job at providing me with a replacement item when the item I initially ordered was out of stock!! Unbelievable customer service that has left me with a fully functioning piece of equipment in a very timely fashion!! Would order from this company time and time again and I suggest you do as well!!

  • Will the Rightline Saddlebag Fit a 2010 Honda Fit Sport with Rear Spoiler
I do not recommend using the Rightline Saddlebag, # RL100B90, on your 2010 Honda Fit Sport because of the spoiler and because the bag would block much of the rear visibility on the Fit. To carry cargo on the rear of the FIt you can install a trailer hitch, # C11064, and use a hitch mount cargo carrier, # C18110, with cargo bag # e98990, and stabilizer strap # 18050. Please consult the vehicle owners manual for the towing and tongue weight capacities. The combined weight of the carrier...

  • Solution to Add Bike Carrier and Cargo Carrier to Hitch on Class C Motorhome
I may have a solution for you on this, but there are two issues here. The first is obviously the clearance of trying to stack a cargo basket and bike rack on top of each other; I don't see a way that this is going to be possible regardless of what type of dual hitch you might use. The second is that using a dual hitch adapter that would give you the ability to carry two accessories, would reduce your tongue weight capacity by 50% so it almost defeats the purpose of being able to carry multiple...

  • Fit of Pro Series # 63155 Cargo Carrier in OEM Class II Receiver on 2013 GMC Terrain
The Pro Series Cargo Carrier you referenced, part # 63155 is compatible with most 1-1/4 inch receivers. I did some research, and confirmed that the 1-1/4 inch OEM hitch on the 2013 GMC Terrain is a Class II hitch, so the cargo carrier will fit and would work very well for you. It works with all Class II hitches but not all Class I hitches. If the load on the carrier obscures your taillights, an optional light kit is available, part # 20174 or part # 98174LED for LED lamps. If you need...

  • Folding Hitch Mounted Cargo Carrier Fit for 2 Inch Hitch on a 2013 Acura MDX
The etrailer Folding Cargo Carrier, # e98874, is one of the top folding cargo carriers we offer. To determine if this cargo carrier will fit on your 2013 Acura MDX, we will want to take one important measurement. You will want to measure from the center of your hitch pin hole to the rear-most edge of your bumper. This will tell us how much clearance you need for the cargo carrier to clear your bumper. The etrailer Cargo Carrier, # e98847, measures 9-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch...

  • Recommended Hitch and Cargo Carrier for 1998 Honda Civic
You can certainly install a hitch on your Civic. I'd recommend the Draw-Tite Class I hitch, part # 24677. This is a quality, but also the most economical choice for your Civic. For a cargo carrying tray, I'd recommend you go with the Curt 24x48, part # C18110. This carrier has an angled shank that will raise the floor of the carrier up over 3 inches above the top of the receiver opening, for additional ground clearance which is important when backing downhill out of driveways. If you'll...

  • Bike Rack and Gearspace On A Dual Hitch
The Let's Go Aero GearSpace 34 Enclosed Cargo Carrier part # HGK826 can carry two bikes inside when the optional # HGK963-2 mount kit is used, but we don't offer an enclosed carrier that would let you carry bikes on top of it. There isn't enough room for a bike rack and the gear space to fit on a dual hitch receiver. This being said, we have a solution that might work for you. The # HR1450Z-85 from Hollywood Racks would allow you to carry two bikes weighing up to 50 lbs apiece and 100...

  • Cargo Bag that Will Fit Curt Cargo Carrier 18145
You would have to tuck it in a little but etrailer cargo bag # e98990 would be the best option for Curt cargo carrier # C18145. The inside dimensions of the carrier are 46-3/8 inches long and 17-9/16 inches front to back. The etrailer bag measures 40 x 20 inches. But it is flexible so you can just tuck it in. That will also help keep it stable.

Thic carrier is designed to fit both 1-1/4 inch, Class I and Class II, and 2 inch receiver hitches. The weight capacity of the carrier is 300 pounds. • Is etrailer Cargo Bag With Mounting Straps Totally Waterproof
That's a good question and the "Water-Resistant" description of the etrailer Cargo Bag with Mounting Straps # e98990 means that it is fully resistant to the elements so you can absolutely use it and drive through inclement weather like rain or snow without any issue at all - your gear will definitely stay dry. It isn't deemed "Waterproof" because that would mean you could submerge it completely in water and everything would stay dry. For example (and just for the sake of explanation) let's...

A hitch mounted cargo carrier would work well to carry your cargo and would not interfere with your spoiler plus wouldn't require you to reach up to access the cargo. • What Does Limited Lifetime Warranty Mean on etrailer Cargo Bag e98990
Good question, and the limited lifetime warranty means that the warranty covers any workmanship or defect in materials as opposed to standard wear and tear for the etrailer Cargo Bag with Mounting Straps # e98990. So if there is any issue with the cargo bag not caused by general use, the Cargo Bag # e98990 is covered under warranty.
