No more wanting to take the travel trailer out and go to find the batteries dead or even worse stolen. I would absolutely say this lockable battery box with solar panel is a great product and very well built. Even before I installed this on my travel trailer the sun was hitting the solar panel at an angle in the garage and I tested the for voltage, (19 volts DC). I was totally sold on the ability of this solar panel, the solar panel was in my garage and not in direct sunlight. Although I could have installed this box with all supplied parts and hardware I took it a step further, cut some angle iron and welded the angle iron mounts on top of the frame. Turned out real nice and looks real nice too! This box looks like it should have come with my travel trailer manufacturer. Very happy costumer, feel secure about the ability to lock up my batteries and they stay charged too!

Thank you for following up on your products. We are very happy with our purchase and so glad that your products are such good quality. Have had many camping friends ask questions about were we purchased our secure battery box and we just had to share! As we travel around the state parks and camp grounds we always have people asking us were we got this setup, hope this helped your sales go up. We just know everyone is as happy as we are and thank you again for such a nice product!

I leave my trailer in a remote location for six months of the year. I wanted the security of a lockable box for my batteries. I purchased the TorkLift PowerArmor Solar Locking Battery Box, converted my trailer to two x 6 volt batteries and added the solar panel. Super great choice. The batteries are trickle charged when I am away and box is super secure! Installation was easy. I had to purchase two extension arms for the box as my spot was behind my gas tanks. Called the team a etrailer and they quickly the additional hardware. I also called about solar charging of the batteries. This team is super knowledgable and offered a tremendous amount of information.

This has been a great purchase and I have shared with my fellow campers too!

Thanks guys for all the help!

It has been a super product. I think that the only weak link is the connector from the panel to the outside of the box. That is clearly showing UV damage. I do not know if any of your customers ever used the external female plug to the battery for anything else - I did and found the box is wired backwards based on RED being hot! I did check all my wiring to make sure red is to positive inside the box. Since I dry camp, I bring in 30-40 gallons of water per trip. I purchased a 12v self priming water pump and proceeded to connect the same type trailer connector to my pump Did not want to have to keep opening the box up. To my surprise the pump ran backwards. I used the alligator clips to the battery and the pump ran correctly. I determined that female connector on the outside of the box is not wired with red to the positive. I simply reversed my connection and the pump runs correctly now. Great product. Wish you had a ventilated security box for my honda e2000 generator.

At this time we do not offer an enclosed security box for your Honda e2000 generator at this time.

Perfect. Compact, sturdy, safe, and easily fit onto my trailer A-frame. exactly what I was looking for at a reasonable price. My two 6-volt batteries, with water filling system fit with ease. Thanks

by:

Box works great, but it will not shut properly and allow
It to be locked. The tabs are not correctly cut out and welded. Luckily it is being used on my property and not a movable trailer so I don’t have to worry about it being stolen.

The Torklift box definitely should be able to lock. I will have customer service reach out to you to look at warranty for the box.

I had been looking for a quality propane tank lock and this one is exactly as described. The lock is robust and allows you to lock two propane tanks and a regulator with the lock and built in key.

Great, heavy duty battery box with solar panel. I bought it about one year ago and it is still rugged and wiring well. The heavy duty locks and construction keep My batteries stare and charged by the sun.

by:

I highly recommend the TorkLift Solar Locking Battery Box TLA7708RS. It is well made and protects your batteries from theft. The solar panel maintain a charge as advertised. Changes I would suggest are upgrading the 4 screws on the solar wire entrance port to stainless steel, and providing foam inserts to keep the batteries in place once installed. The battery tie downs provided won't keep the batteries from shifting if travailing on rough roads. I used marine grade connectors/shrink wrap, high end battery jumpers, and wire looms so once installed it is a "forget about it" project until the batteries require replacement down the road. A wire kit providing these items and lengths of various gauge wire would be a good product option for this box. Will upgrade to two 6 volts batteries when these wear out.

by:

The product is nice but it did take some work on my part to make it fit my toy hauler. It solved 2 problems for me, locking my batteries and maintaining a charge on them.

The product works well and is easy to use.

by:

This thing is perfect. Mounting it was a breeze. I have two 12v lithium batteries and a kill switch inside. Everything fits perfectly. I'm thinking about upgrading to the larger unit that will hold four batteries as we have a residential fridge. On the fence with the solar panel. It just isn't in a good spot for a lot of sunlight.

by:

I paid quite a bit extra by choosing the battery box with the solar panel included. I understand that being the size panel it is, it would not supply an abundance of charge to my two camper batteries, however, I did expect it to at least keep a small trickle on my batteries. The box is great, however don’t be fooled by the overpriced solar option. It did absolutely nothing for my batteries. I actually no longer even connect the panel as it is useless.

by:

Works Excellent. Installed as Instructions stated to the Letter. Fabrication will be required. Limited space, to hold batteries in place may need to use, lifting tool to aid in the battery installation. Isolate the Batteries from touching the sides of the inside of the box and shorting out, driving over uneven road. But This Box looks and work Beautifully. The Solar-Cell does Great Job too!

by:

The capacity of the solar panel is only strong enough to maintain a 90 - 100 % charged battery. ANY drain (detectors, radio display panel) on the battery, while in storage, will negate the maintaining power. I disconnect my fully-charged battery before storage.

by:

Installed this in less than an hour. Good quality, but be warned...the edges around the top of the box are very sharp!

The box didn't fit my battery rails as indicated by the dimensions provided, so I had to use a different mounting (alternative provided in the installation instructions).

Easily takes two Class 24 batteries. So far not a problem. Might change the lock, since it looks like one of those "everybody" has a key locks.

by:

Good looking box, easy to install on my travel trailer frame. Got the solar panel, and it's great at keeping my batteries charged up. Great product.

by:

Very easy to read directions with everything I need to get up and going. Just add a couple of cables to the mix and I get my two batteries up and running and keep them charged. Will be using it on my R-Pod trailer while boondoggling. Hoping that the solar panel will keep batteries charged when I'm not using the R-Pod. That way, they will be charged when I'm ready to go. Happy to have it lockable so that there is less of a chance of theft of batteries.

by:

Super happy with this battery box. Batteries are secure and stay charged with the solar panel. Definitely would, and do, recommend this product to other RV'ers.

by:

Easy to install and has more than enough room for various battery options; I went with 2 Trojan T105's. Keeps a nice trickle on the batteries and the locking feature is really nice! Excellent product!

by:

Best thing I bought for my trailer. It only looks good, but also works great! Converting from the 12v to 2 6v are the best way to do dry camping. Not mention the solar charging...

Thanks etrailer!

by:

So far so good. Easy to install. A little pricey. Will have to see how well it holds up to use and abuse. Hopefully it will turn out to be worth the money. Fast delivery. Will update after a little use. Way too early to tell how long it'll last and if the solar function works as promised.

by:

I thoroughly like the pax with the solar panel on top and the secure lock. My batteries are always fully charged and I have no worries about them.

by:

While this box was expensive, it’s great peace of mind for my two 6v batteries. It’s sturdy and secure. Highly recommend!

by:

A lot of dirt finds it's way inside the container, and accumulates on the batteries.

by:

Great battery box, easy to install

by:

The battery box was just as advertised. Fast shipping and great product.

by:

  • Recommended Trailer Wiring for Solar and Vehicle Charged Trailer Batteries with Inverter
I can absolutely help you with this trailer. First, I recommend using the 7-Way Molded Trailer Plug with Junction Box # HS381-9000 along with ring terminals # 44-5310A. This will easily allow you to convert your 4-way wiring and also add your trailer brakes using # 10-1-1. Then you can use the 10 inch # AKEBRK-35-SA for the 4 hole mounting flange or 12 inch # AKEBRK-7-SA brake assemblies for the 5 bolt mounting flange. For your charging your trailer batteries from your vehicle, I recommend...

The TorkLift PowerArmor battery box # TLA7708RS has the following internal dimensions: 26-1/2" long x 7-3/8" wide x 12-9/16" tall. You would have to place your batteries next to each other and measure them to determine if both will fit in this box. The batteries would need to be at least at 50 percent charge for the solar panel to charge them up. A second...

  • Why is TorkLift PowerArmor Solar Battery Box Not Charging Batteries
If it isn't a potential wiring issue, which I do assume you have checked, the problem could be that the solar panel on the TorkLift PowerArmor Solar Locking Battery Box # TLA7708RS will only charge the batteries so long as they are at least already at a 50 percent charge.
