Recommended Trailer Wiring for Solar and Vehicle Charged Trailer Batteries with Inverter

Question:

I am trying to set up a utility trailer to become a work trailer with a large battery box thats solar charged. Also would like the vehicle able to charge it when hooked up and be able to run a inverter off the trailer batteries to power things in the trailer even when not hooked up to the vehicle. I am also going to add electric brakes and convery it from 4 pin to 7 pin. Can this be done and if so what parts do i need

I can absolutely help you with this trailer. First, I recommend using the 7-Way Molded Trailer Plug with Junction Box # HS381-9000 along with ring terminals # 44-5310A. This will easily allow you to convert your 4-way wiring and also add your trailer brakes using # 10-1-1. Then you can use the 10 inch # AKEBRK-35-SA for the 4 hole mounting flange or 12 inch # AKEBRK-7-SA brake assemblies for the 5 bolt mounting flange.

For your charging your trailer batteries from your vehicle, I recommend the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger - Dual Input - DC to DC - 12V/24V - 25 Amp # 331-BCDC1225D. Then you can use the TorkLift PowerArmor Solar Locking Battery Box - 6V and 12V Batteries - Diamond Plate Aluminum # TLA7710RS or # TLA7708RS for the solar charging. Next you will need a power regulator like # TLA7715 and if you want extra solar panels # TLA7713.

Finally, you will use a power inverter like the Go Power Heavy-Duty Modified Sine Wave Inverter - 12V - 1000 Watts # 34280176 to run 120V AC from your 12v DC system.
