Can the Torklift PowerArmor Solar Locking Battery Box Withstand Cold Winter Weather
Question:
I live in north central Indiana, how well does this solar panel work in very cold weather with two group 24/27 deep cycle batteries?

My contact at Torklift confirmed with me that the Torklift PowerArmor Solar Locking battery Box, # TLA7708RS, has a sturdy aluminum construction, but is not insulated for protection from cold weather. The battery box needs to be vented to allow the exchange of gasses that are produced by the batteries. The uninsulated design allows for these harmful gasses to be passed and vented to the outside so not to build up within the battery box.
The solar panel will wok as long as the panel receives the correct amount of sunlight. The panel will create a 10 watt trickle charge to help maintain the charge on the batteries. If batteries are low or dead, the solar panel will not create enough of a power to fully charge the batteries. In this case, I recommend the NOCO Genius Mini # 329-GENIUS5.
