Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located inside your rear cargo area, behind the tail lights on both the driver's side and passenger's side. You will need to remove some interior paneling to access the harness. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead with the attached fuse holder to the car battery in your trunk. Connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed within your trunk.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Video Transcript for Review of Tekonsha Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring - Trailer Hitch Wiring - TK72VR

Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with the Four-Way Flat Trailer Connector. Now, this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2023 Honda HR-V vehicles. And on the custom fit part like this, I do like to recommend for you to go to our website, use the fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle, and it'll show you if this will work for your application. Now this part here will provide this four-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer signal lights.

It is compatible with five-pole, six-pole, and seven-pole adapters that we do sell separate on our website. This does connect very quickly and easily. Basically, all you need to do is locate the connection points in the rear cargo area and the instructions do describe where to locate those. And then what you'll do is take these two T-connectors and plug these in, one on the driver's side and one on the passenger side. After that's done, you'll wanna ground your white wire and then run your power wire to your vehicle's battery.

Now at the end of this video, I'm gonna sort of go through all these parts just to show you, tell you where they all go, but I first wanna talk about the converter here. This includes a circuit protector taillight converter, and this is to ensure that your vehicle's wiring will match that of your trailer. It is a powered module, connects directly to the battery to avoid overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Now if you notice on the four-way, it comes with the integrated dust cover for the four-way so when you're not plugged into a trailer, you can just put that cap on there and it protects those terminals from any damage or from the elements. A few specs on this, the maximum amperage for the stop and turn light circuits is five amps per circuit, for the tail lights, is 7.5 amps per circuit.

Now as I mentioned, I'm gonna go through all these parts. And again, they do give you a nice set of detailed instructions that'll describe where your connection points are and how it all hooks together. But what you'll do is start and go to the rear cargo area and you'll go behind the tail lights and you wanna start on the driver's side and you'll take this T-connector. It has the yellow wire in it and that let you know it's for the driver's side. You'll unplug your harness, plug this into it.

And then what you'll do is for the passenger side, you'll take this other T-connector that has the length of wire, run it over to the passenger side. Passenger side will always have a green wire in it. Same way, unplug it and plug this into that. With those both plugged in, this converter box has a little weight to it, so you don't want it bouncing around. You could put a screw through here to hold it into place, or they do include a piece of double face tape you can use and attach it to a nice flat surface. Once that's all done, run this out the back towards the trailer. And then here's your two wires that you're gonna need to connect. The white wire that has the eyelet on it, that's your ground. So if there's a nearby ground you can use, go ahead and use it. If there's not a nearby ground, they do give you a self-tapping screw that you can make your own ground. And then the black wire would be for your power that goes to your vehicle's battery. That'll need to run to the front of the vehicle and they do give you this extra wire to do that and the connectors. So what you'll do is take a butt connector, put it in there, and then connect it to one end of this length of wire and then run that wire all the way to the front. And then when you get to the front, take the other connector, put it on that end, and you don't wanna run it to the battery directly. You're gonna run it through this inline fuse holder. So we'll connect one end to it just like that. On the other end of the fuse holder, you'll take this eyelid connector, and then that's what'll connect to your battery. Once that's all connected, open it up, take the included 15 amp fuse, insert it into the fuse holder, put your cap back on it, and now your system's all ready to go. Now it does, if you notice, come with some extra cable ties that might take up any slack in the wiring. But that should do it for the review on this T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with the Four-Way Flat Trailer Connector.
