The SquareBar Evo crossbars let you create a sturdy, reliable roof rack for your vehicle. Each bar extends past the roof rack feet to maximize carrying capacity. The bars are constructed of galvanized steel so they're durable and rust resistant, and they have a polymer coating that helps prevent your cargo from sliding on the rack. The SquareBars require a Thule foot pack (sold separately) to mount the rack to your roof. If you have a vehicle with a naked roof you will also require a vehicle-specific fit kit (sold separately).
Strong, Durable Construction
The SquareBars are made of heavy-duty, rust-resistant galvanized steel. They have a black polymer coating that provides extra grip to help prevent your cargo from sliding around while you're driving. The polymer coating also helps protect the bars against corrosion so you can leave the SquareBars on your roof year-round.
The bars have plastic endcaps that help keep out water and road debris, and they give your roof rack a finished look.
Hassle-Free Installation
Installation of the SquareBars is quick and easy, and you don't have to do any drilling or vehicle modification. The bars have bottom channels that that accommodate your Thule feet. Etched scales adjacent to the bottom channels let you place the feet in the proper location using the vehicle-specific measurements provided in your fit kit manual. Simply slide each foot to the measurement indicated in the fit kit manual, and place the rack on your vehicle.
For applications that don't require specific measurements provided in a fit kit manual - such as a raised rail - you can center the rack after you place it on your vehicle using a tape measure.
To complete installation on your roof simply tighten a single screw inside each foot using the torque tool included with the foot pack. This single attachment point enables you to secure the crossbar to the foot and the foot to your roof simultaneously.

About a year ago we purchased two Thule Hullavator Pro kayak racks along with a Thule SquareBar Roof Rack for mounting. The combination worked out very well and we headed from Colorado Springs to Duvall Washington outside of Seattle with three stops along the way to kayak. The trip went smoothly and we appreciated the Hullavator ease lifting the boats. We have two more trips planned in the near future. We did mount the boats with cockpits down to avoid filling with water when traveling without a problem.
I've had the roof rack for a year now and we only use it sporadically in the winter to put the ski box ontop of the car but it works great. Very easy to install and remove and very sturdy. Previously I had the kind that bolted into the roof of my SUV and had a terrible experience with that (we lost the rack and kayaks on the freeway and it tore holes in my roof). The clamp style is the only kind we'll get from now on because they are much sturdier and no risk of losing them. Definitely recommend them.
Classic square bar, but modern integration with the podium feet. Exactly what I was looking for.
These bars are great and work fine. However the connection slots are not long enough to allow the 60” bars to work on our grand Cherokee. The 60” bars would give more clearance for our Thule Hullevators when they are in the lowered position. I had to develop a removable pad system to protect them from hitting the side of the car.
Worked great on my 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan's naked roof. Carried fully loaded car topper over 8,000 miles without needing any adjustments. Easy to install. Created a significant amount of whistling/howling when driving without a topper, so I wrapped a bungee cord around the front bar and secured it to the Thule feet. Voila. No more noise.
So far so good! The ease of installation was incredible. Pop the fit kit together, put it on the bar and install. Everything is straight forward with the directions. Its even easier if you find a video of the installation. The rack definitely has a little bit of a whistle to it but its kinda expected when you disrupt the airflow. I'm going to pick up my new kayak tomorrow and couldn't be happier! Not the best photo but its all i got at the moment lol.
Well packaged, arrived in good condition. Works as expected. Would be great to have additional fitment information available. The underside channels of the 53” bars were just barely long enough to fit Leer cap track system spaced 40” apart using the rapid podium feet (phew). Thought from the measurements there would be some room to spare but didn’t account for the angle of the podium feet.
The bars are nice but Thule pointedly does not include under bar cover strips with this style of bars. They include these strips with the other three styles of bars they sell. Including these strips would cut the wind noise these bars produce substantially. I overcame this omission by re-using an old 5/8 inch ID (7/8 inch OD) garden hose that I cut up and slid inside the bars from the ends.
The crossbars were delivered but one end of the box was ripped open during transit.The end caps on the crossbars were missing. I called customer service and the are sending me new end caps free of charge. Good cUstomer service.

The crossbars are great. I’ve used it many times for my kayak using it with Thule kayak carrier. To eliminate the whistling sound I ed some insulation foam in each end of the bars. Now it’s totally quiet.
I think this a great roof rack it held a Thule box on a 2019 accord to florida but one thing I think that sucks is how much it whistles when driving besides that its great!!

The square bars are known to whistle compared to the aerodynamic cross bars. I recommend the Thule AirScreen XT part # TH22WV to divert the wind up and over the cross bars to eliminate some of the wind noise.

This review is about the cross bars, the towers, clamps and pads made by Thule from the etrailer site. The instructions were straightforward, and the parts were clearly identified and labelled. Installation was easy, primarily because of the availability of instructional videos etrailer provided on line. Seeing it done from start to finish made the installation quite easy and straightforward. Looking forward to using my new roof system to transport our kayak this summer! Am very satisfied.
Bars were plenty wide for my canoe,had good stiffness, worked well.

Holding up well after a year.
As stated in my last, Thule Racks are Top Shelf. Customer service at etrailer is second to none!! ??
The instructions Thule provides are not very helpful. But that's not etrailer's fault, and the provided videos did help a lot

I bought this rack to transport my recreational kayaks and it works great! With the addition of a Llama "v" rack I'm all set to transport my 21'5" tandem. Good fun. The Thule is the base and I couldn't be happier with it!
Great instructions on etrailer made installing this roof rack a breeze. Looks and works great on my Nissan Frontier. The wind noise is not as bad as I expected, but still a little whistling at certain speeds.
Installation was a breeze, thanks to the videos on etrailer. These crossbars feel so much more solid than the OEM crossbars; hopefully our cargo box won't be "porpoising!"
They work OK.
Package came damaged, 1 end cap was missing. Contacted etrailer they sent me a whole new set. Bars are great otherwise and support was great.
Thule has always delivered a quality product. etrailer shipment was fast and detailed. etrailer web site product info is comprehensive, the best in the business.
Arrived missing two end caps. One quick call to customer service and problem solved. Thank you etrailer.

After having the rack on my car for about a year I can say the bars are still pretty noisy even with my modification. I know theyre square bars and by definition square bars are noisy but I frankly think Thules design of the feet that attach the bars to the roof is not particularly aerodynamic either and so the feet are contributing significantly to the wind noise, too. I bought square bars because I have some older roof attachments that were designed for square bars and I wanted to reuse them instead of having to buy all new ones for a different bar shape. The old attachments fit just fine on these bars so Ill save the money and live with the wind noise.
