The bike rack is made for bikes with no fender, our bikes have fenders and a rack over the back tire. We added some padding for the back tire so the rack doesn't get scratched, it works just fine our bikes are secure.

by:

Nice to keep bike rims distant from the exhaust, which can damage carbon-fiber rims. But, IMHO over-designed......very heavy with thick-walled box channel sections. At least we know it won't structurally fail :)

by:

Solid support for transporting 2 bikes vertically. Nice drop down feature for accessing rear hatch door in SUV.

by:

GREAT customer service during the buying process. Matt was helpful and provided his direct contact information...pretty unique in this day and age. We are in the process of putting the bike rack together and are pretty impressed with it's durability.

This wall mount for bike racks is solid and well-built and does the job. That said the design is not especially sophisticated and one could accomplish the same think with (very) heavy duty hooks going into the studs. The rack hangs at a bit of an angle and not perfectly parallel to the floor because there is quite a bit of loose tolerance (slop) in the design. You can mount it at floor level (as in the etrailer video) or high up on a wall and have the rack hang down (as I did). The floor level mounting is safer because you don't have to lift a heavy bike rack while inserting the hanging pin . The high wall mounting gets it more out of the way but not for someone struggling with the weight of the bike rack. Give that choice some thought. I added a shelf bracket at the bottom to take up some of weight because the rack is on the wall next to my much loved Porsche :). I also added a couple of screw eye into to studs for bungee cords to clamp everything against the wall

Be SURE the screws are solidly into concrete or studs. There is a lot of weight and lever arm physics going on. But it all works. I would have happily paid more for something matching the engineering on the Thule rack itself.

Etrailer is the best. I look forward to being stuff from them

Perfect item for storing my Thule rack off the ground and out of the way. I was very skeptical about the little screws it came with so I used 1/4" x 4" lag screws instead and it feels rock solid. I mounted it to a 4x4 piece of wood that I bolted to my storage shelf as I didn't have any open wall space.

by:

This product worked great with my Saris rack. I decided to hang the rack upside down to keep it as close to the wall as possible.

The product is very secure to the wall. I used the screws that came with it.

The rack weighs 32 lbs (14.5 Kilograms), so this product should have no problem holding the weight.

In the picture I ran the locking cable through the bracket to provide a little more security. I also used the front hold to store the locking hitch pin.

I'm happy with this product and will recommend it to others.

by:

Now that I've had a chance to use the rack I have to be honest it is quite flimsy. If I would have known it was going to be so flimsy I would have ordered the Swagman X Mount Bike Carrier Storage Rack - Wall Mount - 2" Racks. I would ask to return it but I don't have any of the original packaging. This is the first time I've dealt with your company and I have to say I really like it. Fast shipping, email updates on my order and your follow up email.

by:

Just not sturdy enough for my Softride Dura Assist 4. It could just about hold up the bike rack, but the addition of a single bike caused the whole thing to bend.

by:

Bought this product to mount my older Yakima big swing bike rack. Since it's older its made out of steel which makes it pretty heavy. Once mounted the metal frame would twist and the arm of the rack would sag. I propped up the arm of the rack with a 2x4 cut to the desired length and problem solved.

by:

Great simple product to keep my KUAT Sherpa rack off the ground. Simple design and does everything it is intended to do at a fraction of the cost of other solutions that does the same thing (albeit looking fancier, with a few more bells and whistles). Simple, inexpensive solution.

With a 30 pound rack hanging off of one side, the holder is a little "twisted". Maybe a piece of metal reinforcing the holder near the front would prevent this. But I'm being nit-picky. Not sure how a 55lb Thule 916XTR would hold up though, which is what this is intended to carry as well. But for the price, there's really no complaints as it does what it needs to do.

Only issue I have is that the phillips-head screws that come with the kit are terrible. The material is soft, stripping easily, and the head is very shallow. Driving a 3" phillips head screw into a stud with a brand new bit was very difficult with the screw heads pretty much stripped now. I'll likely be able to remove, but won't be able to reuse them again. Should come with a Robertson or hex-head bolt instead.

by:

lacks strength, rigidity, and durability. Installed this in my garage, anchored to a wall stud through drywall. It seemed well anchored but buckled when I placed my bike rack onto it. I have a Thule T2, 2-bike carrier, weighs 56 pounds. I didn't even fully release the carrier from my hands before this devise buckled and nearly came off the wall. I then installed in a different wall stud bit with stronger screws and same thing happened. This might be good for ultra-light carriers but not sturdy enough for many.

by:

Works as advertised even for a heavy bike rack.
The staff at etrailer.com was very helpful as I had some questions as to the model to purchase.

by:

Excellent for my Thule rack. Easy install, I'm actually ordering a 2nd one.

by:

This is a really great solution - simple to install, simple to use. The eTrailer.com order experience was superb - couldn't be happier!

by:

Wall hanger arrived in 2 days. Worked as described.

Items arrived on time in good condition and were as advertised. I will not hesitate to be a return customer.

  • Replacement Bolt for the Softride Bike Extender Bar with the Softride Bike Rack
The Softride Bike Rack Extender Bar # SR26033 is meant to replace the existing hitch bar on your Softride Bike Rack like the Softride Hang 2 # SR27041. I attached a picture with the pieces side-by-side so you can see how it replaces and "extends" the hitch bar. Once you've uninstalled the old hitch bar and replaced it with your extender, you can use the anti-rattle bolt that came with your bike rack to attach the rack to your hitch receiver. You are correct in that the bar only has holes...

  • Recommended 2-Bike Swing Away Hitch For 2020 Volvo XC60 W/ 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver
I would be happy to help! I recommend using the Yakima BackSwing Swing Away Hitch Extender for Bike Racks W/ 2" Receivers # Y02483 with the Swagman Dispatch Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitch # S44FR. This will allow you to carry two bikes weighing up to 45lbs each and will be able to swing away so you can open the rear cargo area of your 2020 Volvo XC60 with the bikes still on the rack. I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.

  • Availability of Bike Rack that Can Pivot Away from Rear of Truck for Tailgate Access
The only type of bike rack that's going to allow you full access to the tailgate of your Ford F-350 is going to be a swing away bike rack like the Thule Apex XT part # TH9027XT. This type of bike rack has a pivot assembly built into the shank of the rack that allows it to swing away from the vehicle to the side so that you get full access to the truck bed. While this is a 4 bike hanging setup we also have 2 bike platform setups like the Yakima EXO swing part # Y92VR.

  • Kinds of Bikes That can be Used on a Softride Hang2 Bike Rack
The Softride Hang2, part # SR27041 can hold two bikes that weigh up to 50 pounds each that have flat style handlebars. Generally, this means that you can hold standard mountain bikes, fat bikes, some kids bikes, and most road bikes. The Hang2 can also hold kids bikes with 20 inch and larger wheel diameters. If you have a curved handlebar or any alternate style handlebar, it won't work on the Hang2.

  • Recommended Bike Rack for a Tandem Bike
No, I am sorry Jim the Softride Hang2 2-Bike Rack item # SR27041 does not work with tandem bikes. The only option I have for a hitch mounted bike rack, that is compatible, would be the Swagman XC-Extended Bike Rack item # S64650-EXT. You would need to make sure your bike's wheel base is 69" or less and weighs 35 lbs or less. The Swagman XC-Extended Bike Rack item # S64650-EXT also mounts in 1-1/4" Class II and 2" hitch receivers. It weighs 38 lbs.

  • Can Swagman Original 3 Bike Rack Support 49 Pound Bike
The Swagman Original 3 Bike Rack # S64152-2 that you referenced does have a 35 pound per bike limit. This means that even though the whole rack itself can technically handle the total weight of your two bikes, the individual cradles aren't designed to support the weight of your heavier 49 pound bike. I cannot recommend using this particular rack for your bikes. We actually only have one hanging-style bike rack available that's able to support this kind of single bike weight and it is...

  • Which Bike Rack Will Allow Rear Doors To Open On 2019 Nissan NV 2500?
I had someone pull the Softride Hang2 2-Bike Rack for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches # SR27041 from our warehouse to get some measurements for you. When this bike rack is in the tilted back position, the upright arm measures about 26" from the hitch pin hole on the receiver. You can measure 26" back from your receiver's pin hole to verify if your doors extend out that for. If you have this clearance then there is still a chance that the swinging doors could interfere with the lower arm on the bike...

  • Hanging Bike Carrier For Carrying Bikes Behind a 5TH Wheel RV Camper
If your 5th wheel has a rear ladder the Stromberg Carlson 2 Bike Carrier # LA-102 is going to be your best option since the Softride Hang2 # SR27041 and similar racks are not rated for a 5th wheel. The same is true for swing away racks like the Yakima EXO # Y54ZR. If you do not have a rear ladder the Swagman Original RV Bike Rack # S64152-2 is a hanging rack capable of supporting 3 bikes up to 35lbs each. This rack is rated for use on a 5th wheel and fits in a 2" receiver.

  • Does Thule Hanging Bike Rack Tilt Down With Bikes Loaded
Just like the Thule Helium Pro, the Thule Apex does not tilt down with bikes loaded. It fact, there is only one hanging bike rack that tilts down with bikes loaded, the Softride Hang2 2-Bike Rack # SR27041. This is because there would be too much stress on the cradles - the lower the bikes got the more they'd twist - and because the rack arms would no longer be horizontal and have a place for the bikes to rest on. The Softride is different because the bikes hang vertically. So to tilt...

  • Bike Racks Safe for Use in Hitch on Motorhome
The Softride Hang2 2-Bike Rack # SR27041 and many other quality hitch bike carriers cannot be used in the hitch on a motorhome. Similarly, some racks CAN be used on motorhome but not on a trailer. The reason is the nature of the motion at the rear of such vehicles. On a passenger vehicle (car, van, truck and SUV) the hitch is fairly close to the rear axle, no more than a few feet away. But on a motorhome or trailer the hitch-to-rear-axle distance is much greater, and this greater distance...

  • Recommended Trike Rack for a 2019 Lincoln MKC
I have a great option for you to transport your JC26X tadpole-style recumbent trike, but I do not recommend using the Softride Hang2 2-Bike Rack for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches # SR27041. Setting aside the potential issue of ground clearance hitch height with your hitch, the Softride Hang2 requires front handlebars to mount to the clamps at the top. This is a platform style bike rack that is super easy to use and comes loaded with features, like a hitch and cable lock. • Can the Kuat Pivot be Used with Recon Racks or North Shore Racks that Hold Bikes Vertically
We have a similar bike rack to what you referenced in the Softride Hang2 # SR27041 but it is only a 2 bike model. Provided that the rack you want fits a 2 inch receiver and when loaded is within the capacity limits you can use the Kuat Pivot # PVP20B. The only issue I can think of with that type of bike rack is loading and unloading. The Pivot will raise the height of the rack from where it would normally be in the trailer hitch upwards but only by a few inches.
