Installation
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located under the rear of the vehicle, on the passenger's side.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
Tail Light Converter
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Today we're going to take a look at the Hopkins Plug-In simple vehicle wiring harness with the four way flat trailer connector. Now, this is a custom fit part, it is designed to fit a 2003 to 2006 Subaru Baja, and on a custom fit part I always like to recommend for you to go to our website, use our fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle, and it'll show you if this part will work for your application. Now, this harness will provide this four way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailers signal lights. It is compatible with five pole, six pole, and seven pole adapters that we do sell separately. To install this, it connects very quickly and easily. There's no cutting or slicing of wires. Basically, just locate your connection point, which on that vehicle is underneath the passenger side rear of the vehicle, near the vehicle vapor canister, and there'll be a six pin connector that'll match this one right here. Plug in your connector, attach your box, here, to a nice flat location using the included zip ties, and then run this out to the back to plug into your trailer. Now, this converter box - this is a taillight converter.
This is on here to ensure that your vehicles wiring will match that of your trailer. They do use protective connection terminals to resist corrosion. Comes with everything shown here. Comes with this nice dust cover for the four way, so when you're not plugged into your trailer it'll protect the terminals from any damage or from the elements. Comes with a couple cable ties to attach your converter down with, and it even comes with a nice terminal grease packet or dielectric grease, and you want to use that whenever you make any connections.

The part arrived when scheduled. Plugged in new adapter and secured wire with in 15 minutes all while laying on my back. Could have been 4 inches long on trailer plug side to get out from under the bumper.

This product worked as advertised. The connection location for my vehicle was identified accurately in the installation instructions and installation only took a few minutes. The interface works and has no effect on the automobile turn signal flashing sequence. Don't even know that you are hooked up to a trailer. I installed it and have rented two different trailers one form Home Depot and one from U Haul and both times the interface was a perfect fit and no degradation of turn signal quality. Extremely satisfied with it. I highly recommend this rather than trying to cut and splice your existing harness.

Everything arrived ok. Trailer hitch fit my Baja without any major work. Wire harness worked. The bed extender and the platform are a bit wobbly but definitely secure.
Unfortunately no free shipping to Hawaii but it arrived in 5 days (including the weekend) and the packaging was done well as to not over do it. I am glad they were there with the goods so I could get them quickly.

We have two Subaru Bajas, and I have installed these wiring kits. There was a problem with one of the kits, but it was replaced. Now both perform well, and I am happy with them. I am still amazed that installation is so easy and neat.
