Video Transcript for BedRug XLT Truck Bed Mat Installation - 2019 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Hey guys, Connor here at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the BedRug XLT truck bed mat, for our 2019 Ford F-250. So, our BedRug bed mat here is going to be a custom fit for our F-250. And basically what this means is all the corners we see cut, they're going to be contoured to the shape of our truck bed. Now this is going to allow a perfect fit. However, as you can see here, it is a little bumpy in certain areas, that's pretty common when we first take it out of the box.

We do need to let it sit in the truck bed until it flattens out over time, and that's going to give us a nice clean look.Touching on the custom fit here, we can see the BedRug is cut to contour the shape inside of our truck bed here. Which again, we get full coverage, it's just a nice clean look. We're going to have a pad for the tailgate here as well. And furthermore, there's actually not going to be any gap between the tailgate and our bed mat here because the BedRug covers that. So, we don't have to worry about anything falling out and losing it between this crevice here.

We have this carpeted material here, which one of the major benefits I've found is it just makes it a lot easier to crawl in and out of your truck bed. It's definitely a lot easier on your knees than the hard metal truck bed would be.Now, another thing we might want to use this bed mat for is if we have any items back here, they're delicate, we don't necessarily want them sliding around in the truck bed. If we had a generator, for example, if we we're going camping, this carpeted bed mat is going to keep it nice and secure. So we don't have to worry about it falling around inside the bed while we're out driving. So in regards to installation, this is definitely going to be something you can do at home by yourself. It's very easy and straightforward.

However, I do recommend you pick a warmer day out of the year to do this. That's going to help allow this cover to sort of sit out in its natural position. It's also going to help the glue stick a little bit better on our hook and loop fasteners. So again, no special tools needed. We may need some sandpaper if we have a spray in bed liner, but we'll go over that with you.Now to start our installation today, we want to go ahead and take our bed mat out of our box here.

Chances are, if you're like ours, it's been sitting in the box for a little bit. So it's going to be quite rolled up, it's going to be tight, it's going to be hard to work with. So what we've done is we've simply just taken the bed mat out, we've laid it in the truck bed, and then we've put weights on all four sides. We let that sit for a little bit, so it can help sort of lay our cover out, so it's a little bit easier to work with. It's not as rolled up and bunched up as it would be when we got out of the box. So once we have it out, we'd go ahead and flip it over here. We're going to want to reveal these a sewn in hook and loop fasteners, as we can see on the backside here. What we want to do is, we want to take the opposite end of our hook and loop fastener, we want to just go ahead and mate it up with the fastener on the back of the mat. So, we're just going to simply put it like so, apply a little bit of a pressure as we work our way up. We have it sit there locked into place. We're going to go ahead and do this on the other side as well. Now, once we have that other hook and loop fastener on, we're going to go ahead and turn the cover over. We're going to set it in the truck bed, like it would sit normally. So, now that we have the bed mat in our bed here, we want to go ahead and peel it back a little bit so we can reveal the slots where our hook and loop fasteners are going to sit. So, we did have to pull it forward a little bit. So, I do want to make sure we have it in the right, but it looks like it's going to be sitting on this channel here. So what we're going to do is, we're just going to take a piece of tape here, if you have any sort of marker that you can use that would work as well, just whatever we can use to sort of guide and go back, make sure we have the right channel. So again, I'm thinking it's going to be here. So, I'm just going to set that like so, now I'm going to go ahead and put the cover back into place on the floor. We're going to check the mark we made just to make sure everything's accurate. So, it did look like we got the right channel here, so now we're just going to go ahead and mark the other side as well. So, the next step of our installation here, now that we have our rail marked, is going to vary depending on what options we had on our truck. Now, if your truck came with a spray-in bed liner like this truck did, the next thing we're going to have to do is we're going to have to take some steel wool, some sort of abrasive like a sandpaper, we're going to have to rough up the surface here that our adhesive backing is going to be sticking to. So, we don't need to do this for the entire section of this little channel here. But as we recall, when we had the bed mat in place, it's going to be about sort of this back cap.So we're going to go ahead and scuff this up. We can always put the bed mat back in place to make sure we have the appropriate sections. So, once we have our surface scuffed up here, the next thing we're going to do is we're going to take a cloth or a towel along with some solution such as soap and water, or we could use rubbing alcohol in this case, and basically what we're going to do is we're just going to clean up that surface that we just scuffed here. So we can get any other loose material that we scuffed up, get it off the channel here, so we have a nice clean surface to attach our hook and loop fasteners to. So, we're going to want to do this the entire length of the surface that we scuffed up with our sandpaper here. We're going to want to do that on both sides as well. So, our next step here is we want to take our adhesion promoter. However, again, this next step is going to be depending on what options we had on our truck. If we have a bare metal bed surface without the spray-in bed liner, we're actually not going to be using the adhesion promoter, we just need to clean and prep our surface with some alcohol or soapy water before we attach our hook and loop fasteners. However, because we do have the spray-in bedliner, we are going to want to use this adhesion promoter, which is included with our kit for us. So again, we're going to want to open this up, take this, and then apply it to the sections that we sanded and cleaned earlier on both sides here, using the channels that we marked earlier. So there again, we'll probably start around this area here where a hook and loop fasteners aligned. And then we're going to want to coat the entire top channel here, until we get up towards the header of the cab here about where we found it would stop.So now that we've let the adhesion promoter dry, assuming that we have a spray-in bed liner that we needed to use that, we're going to go ahead and set the truck bed mat into place. And now we're going to begin peeling back the sticker on our hook and loop fasteners. So, once we peel this back, we want to do one side at a time and keep in mind we don't want to peel this back before we actually have this in place and ready to go. So, if we're going to take a closer look here, we're going to see some threads in the top of this bed mat here, and that's going to let us know where our hook and loop fastener is. So we know where to press. So, we're going to start at the beginning of it, and then we're going to press pretty firmly, as firm as we can, in order to get the adhesion backing to adhere correctly to our bed floor. Sorry. In order to get this correct pressure, we're going to actually go ahead and use our knee. We're going to gently press up until we have the entire hook and loop fastener attached securely. So again, we're just going to go ahead and use our knee. Use those thread marks that's sewn in, so we have sort of a guide to where we need to be pressing. Just going to use our knee here. We're just going to work our way forward to the cab, making sure that we press down on the hook and loop fasteners. So, it gets seated correctly on the bed floor. So again, we're just going to repeat the same process as we did on this other side here. So, what we're going to do is once we have a couple of these in place, we're just going to make sure that we're cleaning the correct surfaces on the tailgate here. So, we're just going to fold it down. You can see it's going to sit about right here. So, similar to how we did in the center of the truck bed, we're going to go ahead and scuff this up with some sandpaper, some steel wool, any sort of abrasive pad. And then we're going to go ahead and clean this with any sort of soap and water, rubbing alcohol, whatever we have on hand. Again, we're just repeating the same process that we showed you earlier. Clean this off.Now we can go ahead and just peel our cover back here, once we have everything marked correctly. Once we have the surface prepped, go ahead and press down our adhesion backing here to get it to stick. We can just go ahead and work our way back, pressing it down. Keep in mind, we do want to start with the innermost ones first and then work our way out to the outside here. And what I do recommend if you have some weights, I'm going to go ahead and place those over the spots where we have the hook and loop fasteners. Then we can let those sit on there, to help them promote to the truck bed while we're doing other things. So, now that we have everything installed in place, that's going to do it today for the BedRug XLT truck bed mat for our 2019 Ford F-250..

Bed rug has worked out great! It has been perfect for the small things I carry (mostly tools and golf bag), and works perfect with the velcro cargo organizer I have in the bed of my truck. The bed rug prevents sliding/noise and damage to things I carry along with protecting the actual bed/spray-in liner. Great product!

Unlike everyone selling items they don't have in stock, Etrailer doesn't. And their communication is outstanding before, during and after the sale including a "follow your package" link. The rarity of both service and most often the best price, makes this my first stop for trailer, camper or towing needs. I appreciate how hard they work to earn my business.

Easy installation. Heavy duty construct ion.

  • Best Tonneau Cover for a 2019 Ford F-350 Short Bed
The best tonneau cover for a 2019 Ford F-350 is the BAKFlip MX4 Hard Tonneau Cover part # BAK48330. I prefer the BAKFlip MX4 because it has a hard top which means your contents inside the truck bed are truly safe, it has a low profile design so you don't have to worry it sticking up from the bedsides taking away from the look of the vehicle, and it is very durable therefore you don't have to worry about it getting damaged when using your truck as a truck. The BAKFlip MX4 has a very tight...
