Specs:

  • Maximum amperage:
    • Stop/turn lights: 3 amps per circuit
    • Tail lights: 6 amps per circuit
  • 90-Day limited warranty

Installation

This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the rear floor liner, scuff panel, and the tail light assemblies to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the connector, run the red hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Powered Tail Light Converter

A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

The wires from left tail light to control module were WAY too short to allow install in the jack well and through rubber grommet. Given that, I had to install control module just below the light. Have no idea if this will effect longevity.

It sounds like you have the power converter installed in the correct spot just below the tail light. If you take a look at the 4:41 time stamp of the attached video you will see where it should be installed.

The trailer wiring harness you purchased is covered by a 90 day warranty. The best way to begin the wiring harness troubleshoot is to use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 on the trailer connector pins as each lighting function is activated. Ground the tester to the male pin on the trailer connector, which is fed by the white ground wire. Probe the socket fed by the green wire as the right turn signal is activated. The tester should blink along with the turn signal, and when the brake pedal is pressed. Probe the socket fed by the yellow wire when the left turn signal is activated. The tester should blink along with the turn signal, and also with the brake pedal. The socket fed by the brown wire should show power with the vehicles headlights or running lights on. If you are showing signal on each pin as its function is activated, then the problem exists in the wiring on the trailer, not in the vehicle wiring harness. Beginning at the trailer connector, trace each circuit rearward to the taillights. Examine the trailer connector on the trailer, check for corrosion or damage. Check the point where the wiring meets the 4-pin plug. As you trace each circuit rearward, look for pinched wires and loose connections. Ill link you to a trailer wiring troubleshooting article that should be helpful. Just click the link provided below:

5 months after purchased it failed just like other reviews. Only 90 day warranty! I only used it 3 times in the 5 months for short trips. I Do not recommend buying this.

by:

Worked great for about four months. Now as soon as you plug the trailer harness in, the brake lights on trailer light up and stay o.. Don't even need to have the car on.b and only time turn signals work is when you have brakes applied.

Chevrolet Traverse

I needed a hitch for my Chevrolet Traverse High Country and was not certain what to order. I called etrailer and they verified all of my vehicle information and checked and got me the correct trailer, wiring kit and also plug mount. Was doubtful about it being correct, but when everything got here, in short order, it was exactly what I needed. Without their research I know I would have ordered the wrong thing. You can depend on them researching to make certain they are giving you the correct parts and quality items.

by:

Great hitch, and the installation videos were amazingly helpful. This is the only place to purchase a hitch

by:

Shipping was excellent! The product arrived sooner than I thought it would, and was exactly what I purchased. I needed wiring hookups for a rental trailer I'll be towing. It was easy to find the exact one I needed and for a good price. I love etrailer! They're reliable and helpful. What more could you ask for?

  • Best Way to Transport 4 Kayaks on 2015 Chevy Traverse
Without knowing the length of the crossbars and the weight of the kayaks, I would have some doubts that you're going to be able to carry 4 kayaks on the roof of a 2015 Chevy Traverse-but if you were going to do it the Thule Stacker # TH830 would be the way to go since they don't take up a ton of space. You're going to need roughly 50" (the Stacker takes up about 3" of bar space) of crossbar space to successfully do this. I would also recommend checking your owner's manual to find out the...

  • Trailer Wiring Recommendation for a 2015 Chevy Traverse with Rear Air Conditioning
The trailer wiring kit you would want for your 2015 Chevy Traverse that has the rear AC is the Tekonsha part # 118270. This wiring harness can be used as an OEM replacement, but it also includes the fuses and relays to activate the tow package if your vehicle was not equipped with the tow package. This will be a plug and play model that will install easily and would not interfere with the AC. The Hopkins kit you referenced would work but is a universal hardwire application. Check out...

  • Brake Controller Set Up for 2015 Chevy Traverse Without Factory Tow Package
For your 2015 Chevy Traverse without the factory tow package you will need T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package # 118271, as this will contain the fuses and relays needed to activate the tow package. You can mount this with a combination of brackets # 18140 and # PK12711U. The brake controller will then need to be hardwired in, and I have added a link to a help article which explains how to do that. As for the brake controller itself, I strongly recommend the Prodigy P3...

  • Trailer Hitch and GCWR for 2017 AWD Chevy Traverse
I took a look at an online version of the owner's manual for a 2017 Chevy Traverse and it says that for an AWD without the V92 Trailer Towing Package the maximum trailer weight is 2,000 lbs and the GCWR is 7,700 lbs (GCWR is the total weight of the trailer, trailer cargo, Traverse and Traverse cargo including passengers - essentially the weight of everything). If you have the tow package on your Traverse then you will simply need to connect the T-One # 118270 up behind the bumper on the passenger side of your vehicle (see attached photo).
