Parts Needed to Tow a Horse Trailer with a 2016 Chevy Traverse
Question:
I have the 2016 Chevy Traverse AWD I do not have the factory towing package. I need to tow a two horse trailer with one horse in it about 1300 miles. What after market towing package would you recommend, so this will be comfortable and safe for both me and my horse?

According to my research, the towing capacity of a 2016 Chevy Traverse without the trailer towing package is 2,000 lbs so you will need to make sure the weight of your loaded trailer does not exceed this figure. Assuming it does not you will need a trailer hitch, wiring harness, and ball mount/hitch ball in order to tow it.
For a trailer hitch, I recommend using the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 75528 because it is a custom fit that does not require any drilling for installation and it has a mounting bracket for the trailer connector. For a trailer wiring harness, I recommend the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness part # HM11141150 because it is also a custom that doesn't require any cutting or splicing. In order to secure the trailer connector to the mounting bracket on the trailer hitch you will also need to use the Mounting Bracket 4-Pole Flat part # 18144.
For a ball mount/hitch ball, I recommend using the Pro Series Adjustable 2-Ball Mount part # 63071 because it has a 2"/2-5/16" hitch ball and height adjustments from -5-7/8" to +4-5/8". I have attached install/review videos for you as well.
