Video Transcript for Redline Trailer Suspension - Leaf Spring Suspension - E4139 Review

Today, we're going to be taking a look at the front, center, or rear hanger, for double-eye springs. This hanger can be used as a front hanger on single axle applications, and it can be used as a front, center, or rear hanger, on tandem or triple axle applications. It's going to fit 1 3/4" wide double-eye springs with 9/16" diameter eyes. It does work with a 9/16" diameter bolt, hardware sold separately. The unit's made from a sturdy steel construction. It measures around 3/16" thick.

It is a weld-on application, so this will weld directly to the trailer frame. The height measurement for a hanger is taken from the center of the mount hold to the top of the hanger. The height for this particular one is going to give us a measurement of about 4 1/4". The overall length, looking at about 3". External width is about 2 5/6" to 2 3/8".

Internal width, it's going to measure about 1 7/8 to 1 15/16", and then the overall height of the unit, that's going to measure about 4 7/8" tall. Then the holes on the unit, again, have that diameter of 9/16". That's going to do it for today's look at the front, center, or rear hanger, for double-eye springs.

These were purchased to assist with raising a dual-axle travel trailer. They arrived well packaged, and looked to be well made. They took readily to welding, so there was no issue with inferior material. The attached images show them being welded side-by-side to the frame rail extensions, then the entire assembly attached to the main frame.

After a year and more than six thousand miles under our 30 foot fifth-wheel, these show no sign of degradation. At this point, Ive quit worrying about them, and just keep rolling. Thanks, etrailer!

My order was supposed to arrive on Saturday by Monday evening I had not received it I called the lady was very apologetic and said she would research it. She took care of everything and it was here. They were very helpful .!! the part was exactly what I needed Would definitely recommend them for their personnel and their follow up

by:

Exactly what i needed. Same dimensions as the original. Might have even been a little thicker gage metal than my originals. I added angle gussets to all my hangers to hopefully keep them from breaking again.

by:

I think these guys know their trailers

by:

Trailer Doesn't Have broken springs anymore. Fun stuff! Good product, fit properly, no complaints.

by:

The were very helpful in helping me order the correct hanger. Shipment was very fast.

by:

Just what I needed

by:

Great place to deal with, fast shipping, extensive emails, and they have the product. need this extra long spring hanger and they were the only ones I could find that had it. Rebuilding a tow behind dump trailer.

by:

Product quality was as expected but the customer service was the part that brings me back! Great job and thank you!

by:

Perfect fit, we’ll made!

by:

When I disassembled my springs and shackles to replace the worn items I discovered my hangers were not worn at all. I completed my rebuild of the suspension and had some welding done on the frame that Terry did not complete back in 1996. I ended up using the hangers as barter for a portion of the frame rework.
The suspension parts I used from you folks fit and worked as expected and we took our 1996Tterry 5W to Texas this spring and had a good time.
Thank You,
Jim Ferry

Good quality

Perfect match, and the info on the website helped me get the spacing right (factory hangers weren't welded on right so the springs were always cocked)

Hi Patrick, still happy as a clam with my order. I took an old camper trailer frame and cut it down to make a canoe kayak trailer. Your info on the web site and parts helped A LOT. We have used the trailer several times. Good stuff. I have 5 trailers, yall are my go to place for parts.

by:

Got exactly what I needed at a good price and fast. Will shop here again!

Parked in the middle of the Mojave desert I noticed that the wheels and tires
on one side of my old Crusader travel trailer were quite close together, within
about two inches of touching each other. On further inspection the welds on the
rear axle spring hanger had failed, leaving 2, 5" pieces of strap steel hanging on
the leaf spring. Was trying to figure out a fix without calling a mobile welding
outfit, when I entered "travel trailer spring shackle" on my Verizon tablet, and
There you and the exact piece of steel I needed were. Had no idea that it was
Such a common part. Cleaned up the frame with a grinder and drilled two
Holes. Two grade 8 nuts, bolts and lock washers. Saved about 15 times the
Cost of the part and shipping. Bravo!!

by:

The products I ordered came extremely well packed in one large box. The spring hangers look to be in good condition and ready for welding, and the wet bolt kit for Morryde came with excellent instructions. Shipping was quick arriving at my house sooner than expected.

by:

Thank you for all the help on the phone to get the right bracket hanger.

Product has preformed well no issues

by:

The hanger on my trailer was separating from frame. After torching off the old hanger, welding in a support plate- this was a simple replacement. Still holding up well 1 year later.

by:

It was just what I needed. Installation was typical. This part replaced a broken one on a fifth wheel trailer. Shipping was great!

by:

Everything arrived in a timely manner and was well-packaged.
My only disappointment was not being able to purchase 4-1/4" front hanger brackets in a kit. I was forced to purchase the kit with 3-1/4" brackets and order the 4-1/4" brackets separately.

by:

Perfect fit and no one else had this specific size needed to match my trailer. I would purchase again if the other side breaks an ear off (let's hope not)

by:

perfect fit

by:

I purchased two of these to replace the hangers that broke on my 5th wheel. The are exact replacements for the originals.

by:

I try to purchase local when I can but the local trailer places charge from 2 to 4 times what I can get parts from etrailer. So I come to etrailer for all my trailer parts. Service is great and shipping it quick for items in stock. I currently have a few things on backorder that are taking some time.

The product itself is excellent, unfortunately somewhere the incorrect label was placed on 2 inch wide spring hangers and the correct appllicationfor the part number is 1-3/4". E-trailer is correcting and providing a shipping label to return the others. Slight delay but sometimes that stuff happens. No worries. The free shipping on $150 orders make up for a lot on heavy parts.

  • Can Equa-Flex Equalizers Add Height
Possibly a bit; it just depends on the height of your current equalizers. The Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers - Double Eye Springs - Tandem Axle - 6K to 8K # LC279688 measure 4 inches tall from bottom to top bolt hole, so if you use the same shackle straps and that is quite a bit taller than your equalizer you will add some height. It won't be much though, so if you don't want to add an over/under kit then the next best thing to do is to replace your hangers with taller ones, which can...

  • Dimensions of Center Hanger in Redline Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs APT8
The spring hangers included in Redline kit # APT8 are intended for weld-on installation. Hanger part # E4139 that is included in the kit does have two holes that are for attachment of your springs. This part of the hanger will not be welded. I pulled one of these from our warehouse to measure its height and found the actual height to be 4-3/4-inches measured tip to tip; width is 3-inches. From the center of the 9/16-inch hole to the top edge of the hanger measures the specified 4-1/4-inches....

  • Is There Supposed to be Play Between Hangers and Leaf Springs
There has to be a bit of play between the leaf spring bushings and the hangers so that the suspension components can move freely as needed. If you torqued down the bolt to the point the hanger flexed in and prevented movement you'd have a very harsh ride quality since the suspension would be ineffective.

  • Can the Center Spring Hanger Be Taller Than Front and Rear Spring Hangers On Magic Tilt Trailer
It is possible to have a center spring hanger that will be longer than the front and rear hangers. For an example I would have the Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs, part # APT3HD. This kit has 2-1/2 inch tall front and rear hangers and a 5-7/16 inch tall center hanger. A longer center spring hanger is normally used in conjunction with an equalizer. The equalizers are designed to transfer the load from one axle to another when the trailer goes over a bump. This will flip the axle to under the springs and will solve the issue of the U-Bolts making contact with the frame of your trailer. As to the shackles flipping, I think it may actually be a center hanger height issue along with the shackle straps being a little short. There are limited ways to add height to a trailer, especially the amount you are looking for. This is especially true because you have already flipped the axles on your Keystone Hornet. The only other way you can gain height is to cut off your current hangers and have longer ones professionally welded on and the longest we carry are the Front/Center/Rear Hanger for Double-Eye Springs - 4-1/4" Tall # E4139 and the Center Hanger for Double-Eye Springs - 5-7/16" Tall # 115919. • Options For Raising The Ride Height On A Premier 7K Car Trailer
I can certainly point you in the right direction. There are limited options for lifting a trailer. It really comes down to what kind of axles are on your Premier 7K car trailer. Generally it will be safe to assume that a tandem axle trailer with a 7K GVWR would have a pair of 3.5K round tube axles underneath. Provided my assessment is accurate, we have the following options. To answer your first question a double-eye spring would not compress less than your current 4-Leaf Slipper Spring w/ Open Eye End # e33SR and I do not recommend going with a higher-rated spring than what your trailer is rated for as that will make your ride very stiff and unpleasant. As it has a 3/4 inch diameter hole. So the closest hanger to that with the correct diameter hole is the part # E4139 which has a drop of 4-1/4 inches and a bolt hole diameter of 9/16 inch like you need.
