2005 Mazda 6

I installed this on my '05 Mazda 6 Wagon. I purchase all my hitch / kit needs from Etrailer. ALWAYS great!! As far as Curt.. This hitch without a doubt has been the absolute worst hitch I've had / done... installation was easy. I'm not really a fan of the plate section being mounted to the extremely thin spare tire well.. while the rear plate is mounted into a frame section I would HIGHLY recommend not pushing the weight limit on these! The receiving end / opening is super sloppy so when your hitch is installed it's real wobbly and that leads to annoying clanking noise... Over all not impressed but , it is what it is.

I appreciate the honest review. One thing that you said was that the receiver opening was wobbly. I wanted to recommend an anti-rattle device like part # RM-061-125 that reduces the movement of say a ball mount in the receiver.

The unit may not have had the exact fit for our Mazda 6, but it was adequate to install solidly and quickly. The Mazda 6 model selection for ordering is generalized and may not provide for all model variations. Build of the kit is solid and has good instructions.

I haven't really towed with it, but installation of the hitch itself was a breeze on my Mazda 6. One word of advice is do not thread the carriage bolts too far on to the fish tool. Was actually a huge pain to get it off the bolt w/o damaging it so I could use it for bolt #2. I thoroughly destroyed the fish tool removing it from the 2nd bolt. Good thing it was only needed twice. Other than that, the most difficult part of the install was the wiring kit. The main part of the kit (all the stuff in the trunk) was a breeze, but running a power wire from the trunk area under the car up to the battery was always a pain as I fully expected it to be. But again, not too bad at all.

Ordering from etrailer.com was great BTW. I ordered it on a Sunday night and the product was on my doorstep Wednesday, all parts accounted for, just like i ordered. This is the 2nd hitch I've ordered from etrailer.com in the span of a year. Had a great experience 2st time as well.

Do you have a sedan or wagon? I want to know if it fits a 2007 Mazda 6i sport sedan.

The C11308 will not fit your 2007 Mazda 6 Sedan. You can use the Curt hitch C11329 as this is the only hitch that is available for it.

Super fast shipping! Great price and fairly easy install. Now I can tow my kayaks!

2004 Mazda 6

Great design. Very simple to install if you have some help holding the bumper cover out of the way. The hitch instructions are good and no vibration on the heat shield or anything else.

2004 Mazda 6

Hitch went on fairly easily, not easy, although another set of hands would have helped greatly! Nevertheless, was able to do it myself with few problems. One has to really look to see that it's even on the car without the receiver in place.

2007 Mazda 6

Easily installed and well-designed for our Mazda 6. In addition, the price is excellent. I wouldn't tow a heavy camper with this hitch, but then again, since the car has a 2.3 liter engine, it wouldn't be a consideration, anyway.

  • Will the Curt Trailer Hitch, # C11308, Fit a 2007 Mazda 6 Hatchback And Wagon
The Curt Trailer Hitch, item # C11308, will fit the 2007 Mazda 6 Sport Wagon models only. For the 2007 Mazda 6 five door hatch back, and the 4 door sedan, you would need to use the Curt Trailer Hitch, item # C11329. Some items you may need to complete your Class I towing setup are listed below. Wiring, item # C59496, for the 2007 Mazda 6 Sport Wagon Wiring, item # 118405, for the Mazda 6 4 Door Sedan and 5 Door Hatchback Drawbar, item # 3593, for the 2007 Mazda 6 Sport Wagon Drawbar,...

  • Parts Needed to Tow Trailer with 2004 Mazda 6
If you went with a 2004 Mazda 6 we have the Curt Class I hitch part # C11308 which fits the sedans and 5 door hatchbacks that has a 2,000 lb capacity. For trailer wiring you'd then want the part # 118405 which is a custom fit and then for a ball mount you'd want the part # 3594 and hitch ball # 19256. If you were thinking about a different vehicle let me know and I can see what would work for that as well.

  • Recommended Options For Carrying 4 Bikes On 2003 Mazda 6 Sedan
The trailer hitches we have that are designed to fit your 2003 Mazda 6 sedan are Class l hitches. Any hitch-mounted bike carrier that is designed for a 1-1/4 inch Class l hitch is limited to 2 bikes. You have a few options to consider for carrying 4 bikes but there will not be one single carrier that can handle all 4 bikes on your Mazda. I recommend a trunk mount carrier for 2 of the bikes and also a roof rack with bike carriers for the other 2 bikes. The hitch you mentioned, part #...

  • Bike Carrier Fits on 2003 Mazda 6 Sedan with Factory Spoiler
The various colors of the Saris Bones 2- and 3-bike trunk-mount carriers are shown on the linked page and all do work with most factory spoilers, however the large spoiler on your 2003 Mazda 6 4-door sedan is not considered by Saris to be compatible. In fact Saris' FitGuide shows none of their trunk-mount racks will work with your spoiler. The same holds for Thule. And for Hollywood Racks. However, my contact at Hollywood Racks noted that while they too do not officially have trunk-mount...

The Curt hitch # C11308 is a good choice for you and is made in the USA. It has a reliable and a 200 pounds tongue weight along with a 2,000 pounds gross trailer weight. It has a bolt-on installation with no welding required. It comes with a complete hardware kit and installation instructions. Since you want to use the hitch for a bike rack then you have to make sure the rack is rated for use with a Class I trailer hitch. Also, with a bike rack, you are limited to 2 bikes maximum on...

  • Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendations for a 2004 Mazda 6
Yes, the Curt trailer hitch # C11308 will fit a 2004 Mazda 6. Since you want to use the hitch for a bike rack you will need to use a stabilization strap, # 18050, to be in compliance with Curt's warranty requirements. You will also be limited to carrying 2 bikes at most with the Class I trailer hitch and will need a rack that is compatible with a Class I hitch. I recommend the Swagman Titan, # S63400. It is compatible with the hitch, holds 2 bikes and it has several useful features including:...

  • Recommended Hatch Mounted Bike Rack for a 2004 Mazda 6
To add a bike rack to your 2004 Mazda 6 hatchback, I recommend the Hollywood Racks Express 3 Bike Carrier item # HRE3. Like all rear window mounted bike racks, this one has a 35 lbs capacity per bike. This bike rack weighs only 11 lbs so you won't have to worry about it damaging the rear of your car. It has adjustable arms and uses six straps to secure the rack to your Mazda. I have linked a couple of review videos below so you can see the functions and features of this bike rack demonstrated....

  • Does Curt Hitch for 2007 Mazda 6 Have Capacity for Towing Motorcycle Trailer
Hey Alfonso, the Curt hitch part # C11308 that fits your 2007 Mazda 6 has a towing capacity of 2,000 lbs which as long as the weight of your trailer loaded is less than that would work great. You'll also need trailer wiring to which we offer with the part # C59236.

  • Availability Of Bike Rack To Fit a 2005 Mazda 6 Hatchback
I do have a way to carry bikes on your 2005 Mazda 6 Hatchback, but it is not with a trunk mounted bike rack. A trunk bike rack will not be able to be used on a 2005 Mazda 6 Hatchback model because the hatchback will not be able to carry the weight of a trunk bike rack. I recommend to use a hitch like the Curt Class I 1-1/4 Inch Hitch, part # C11308, along with the Thule Camber 2 Bike Carrier, part # TH9058. I am including links to the installation instructions of the hitch. If you are...

  • Options for Carrying 3 Bikes on 2004 Mazda 6 Wagon with Class I Trailer Hitch
I have a solution for you to carry 3 bikes on your 2004 Mazda 6, but it is true that Class I, 1-1/4 inch receiver trailer hitches, like the # C11308 you referenced, are limited to carrying only 2 bikes. These trailer hitches are limited to carrying 2 bikes due to the low tongue weight capacities of both the trailer hitch and the vehicle on which the hitch is installed. As more bikes are installed on a hitch mount rack, the weight of the bikes is moved further away from the hitch, increasing...

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendation for Towing and Bikes for a 2004 Mazda 6 Hatchback
If I were choosing a trailer hitch for a 2004 Mazda 6 hatchback the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # C11308 is the right choice. You mentioned you might do some towing. The appropriate ball mount and pin and clip is # 3592. All that would be needed is a ball # 19256 for a 1-7/8 inch or # 19258 for a 2 inch. The Curt hitch # C11308, requires the use of stabilization strap # 18050 when using the hitch with a bike rack or cargo carrier for Curt's warranty requirements,...

I checked with Hollywood Racks and they have confirmed the fit of the Hollywood Racks Expedition 2 Bike Carrier # HRF6-2 on your 2005 Mazda 6. They do say that your vehicle has a soft bumper so deformation is possible. Because of that I would recommend you go with a hitch mounted bike rack. For a hitch to start you would want the part # C11308. Since this is a Class I hitch you would be limited to carrying 2 bikes. For a bike rack I would recommend the Swagman XTC2 bike rack part # S64670....

  • What is Need to Install a Hitch and Use a 2 inch Bike Rack on a 2006 Mazda 5 Sport Wagon
The installation hardware, nuts and bolts, are included with the hitches we sell. This would leave you with 100 pounds tongue weight capacity meaning the combined weight of the rack and all bikes on it must be less than 100 pounds. Also, if you use a Curt 1-1/4 inch hitch, a Curt stabilization strap, part # 18050, must be used for any non-trailer loads like bike racks or...
