2012 Audi A3

It was a straight forward install and the videos are every clear and helpful. It’s fit and finish is as good as I could ask for for a nice well priced hitch, fitting with the oem rear bumper after only a minor cut was made. Would definitely purchase again and again.

by:

I bought and installed this product 1 year ago. It is a nice product. Professional installation recommended. The reason of four stars is nuts and washers are missing in the package. Otherwise, this review will have 5 stars.

The hitch looks and works great. Visually, it's hidden out of the way and fits the car perfectly. It's definitely no easy matter to install a hitch, and I debated on hiring out the install or DIY-ing. I will say that the install was tricky and without the help of a friend who does a fair bit of body work as a hobby it would have been a big challenge. The instructions (especially the video) were super clear and helpful and it was easy to purchase this and then hire out the install (I priced a few of these options). The cost for this hitch was cheaper than any of the installation places could get and they recommended I purchase online. Very happy. I regularly put 3 mountain bikes on the hitch and have no stability/weight issues.

Ford Flex

Works great with a Kuat bike rack. Very sturdy, very little flex, bikes stay in place without bouncing around.

Install was pretty easy. The hardest part was removing the bumper cover. After the bumper cover is off, the install is easy and straightforward. Definitely recommend having help when doing this install, the bumper bar plus hitch are quite heavy and would not be at all easy to place and bolt in by yourself. The install took me and a friend about an hour with most of that time spent on the bumper cover.

2013 Audi A3

They aren’t kidding when it’s scored a 10 out 10 for install difficulty level. No joke - it took over 6 hours. But this would have cost a fortune to have someone else do it for me. The end product looks great - you can barely see the hitch under the rear bumper. The instructions are clear - but pay attention to all the details and keep your workspace clean and tools clearly laid out. Also, be sure to get all of the tools you will need in advance. The satisfaction level after install is totally worth it. This is the second hitch I have purchased. The first one I got for our other car was a breeze to install compared to this.

2011 Audi A3

A bit tricky to install, mostly because Audi tail lamps are not easy and getting the electrical right was equally tough.

You can hardly see the hitch - super hidden.

by:

Install instructions were fantastic for what is a little more involved install than some. The payoff is a super low profile hitch that makes my tiny hatchback a bike hauling machine! Just what I was looking for...

by:

While installation wasn't easy due to my car's difficult rear bumper removal, the hitch fit perfectly. No complaints at all with the hitch itself.

by:

Excellent product, install was somewhat easy if you’ve worked on cars before. Hitch does sit a little too far into the bumper. My bike rack scrapes on the bumper when folded downward.

by:

Hitch was pretty easy to install. Although, I do have a car lift....which is like cheating.
Video helped out a lot. Although I did drop both 10mm nuts...which took a bit to retrieve them.
I spent around 2 hours with the install.
Mostly everything was explained correctly.
Job well done to Etrailer.

by:

One of the tabs that attach to the bumper frame was bent out of position by about 15-20 degrees. Was able to get back.

by:
2008 Audi A3

Great video and PDF instructions that made for an easy installation. Two sets of hands are needed to support the removal and replacement of the bumper cover to avoid damage.

by:

The install wasn't super difficult. It was all pretty basic concepts. The hitch itself has had 0 issues.

2010 Audi A3

Great for 2010 Audi A3Having never installed a hitch I thought this was fairly easy. Installed perfectly on my 2010 A3 (with some slight bumper modifications). You can hardly tell it is even there since it sits far back and the ball it came with clears my bumper so it works great. So far I have used it to tow a jet ski around (about 800-900 pounds).

by:

Seems to be near perfect hitch for my application...great quality...

by:
2012 Audi A3

Solid product. Does exactly what I want with no issues.

Works well

Good deal, very fast shipping, great customer service, good youtube material for help with install on specific models, they made my life a lot easier.

  • Will Curt Trailer Hitch Fit 2011 Audi A3 TDI S-Line
I went ahead and verified with the manufacturer for you that the Curt hitch will indeed fit your 2011 Audi A3 TDI S-Line with the Sport package; the correct part number for the hitch is the following: - Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11192 The Curt # C11192 will fit your Audi and is nice because the crosstube is entirely concealed so that the only thing showing is the receiver, helping your A3 keep its factory appearance. If you plan on using this for just an accessory like a bike rack,...

  • Parts Needed to Tow a Trailer with a 2006 Audi A3
I cannot go against the trailer manufacturer and tell you that a class I hitch will be fine when they recommend using a class II hitch but that seems like a rather odd request to me as most other trailer manufacturers do not specify the hitch class so long as the vehicle and hitch are both capable of pulling the weight of the trailer. Therefore, I would think you would be okay but again I can't tell you to do something the trailer manufacturer says not to. Unfortunately the only trailer...

  • Trailer Hitch, Wiring, Ball Mount and Hitch Balls for a 2010 Audi A3
For the 2010 Audi A3 you can use Curt hitch # C11192. We do perform installations at our headquarters in Wentzville, Missouri. I have included a link to the installation details for you and a link to a video showing installation. If you want to do some towing please consult the vehicle owners manual...

  • Difficulty of Installing a Trailer Hitch on a 2012 Audi A3
Installation of Curt trailer hitch # C11192 on your 2012 Audi A3 requires some drilling, bumper removal, fascia trimming, and removal of spare tire and tail lights. None of this is all that difficult, it just takes time. To determine if this is something you want to tackle you can take a look at the video I have linked showing an installation. • Trailer Hitch that Fits 2007 Audi A3 for Motorcycle Trailer
For lighter duty vehicles like a 2007 Audi A3 there are only lighter duty hitches available like the Curt # C11192. Only way to use this as a tow vehicle will be to tow a small trailer which will also require lighting like the part # 46255. Even if a heavier duty hitch was made for the vehicle the vehicle itself wouldn't be able to handle the weight of the bike and carrier unsupported. The correct ball mount to use would be the part # C45015 as well.

  • Hitch Recommendation for a 2013 Kia Sorento and a 2012 Audi A3
I have a solution for you, but the 37042 would not fit either vehicle. The 37042 Reese hitch fits a Ford Escape so it would not fit either of the vehicles you mentioned. There must be a surplus of that hitch floating around as we get a lot of questions about what it would fit. For the 2013 Kia Sorento you would want the part # 75684 and for the 2012 Audi A3 the part # C11192.

Yes, it will be OK for you to use the Sport Rider SE 2 # HR1450Z with a hitch adapter to mount onto the 1-1/4 inch Curt hitch # C11192 as long as the combined weight of your bike and the adapter weighs equal to or less than 46 pounds (since the maximum weight capacity of the curt hitch will be 100 pounds and the Sport Rider SE 2 weighs 54 pounds). • Will the Kuat Transfer V2 # KU84FR and 2 Bikes Work on a Curt Hitch # C11192 for a 2012 Audi A3?
I have a great solution for you. You are correct in saying that etrailer only carries the 1-1/4 inch hitch receiver # C11192 for your 2012 Audi A3. With that being said, if you use the Kuat Transfer V2 for 2-inch hitches # KU84FR with a hitch adapter # HTAD, you will decrease the hitch capacity by 50%. The Curt Class 1 hitch, part # C11399 does not require any drilling except to enlarge some existing holes, as you'll see in the instructions that I've linked for you. • How to Determine Ground Clearance for the Curt Hitch # C11192 on a 2013 Audi A3
The hitch opening of the Curt Hitch part # C11192 will sit directly underneath the lower fascia of your 2013 Audi A3 once installed. To determine how much ground clearance this hitch will have on your vehicle you will need to measure the distance from the bottom of the lower fascia on your vehicle to the ground and then subtract about 1-1/4 inches to get a very close approximation. Basically a bike rack would sit right underneath the fascia once installed. Since this is a Class I hitch...
