Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Excellent product; very robust, fits perfectly, high quality finish.

Sadly, I did not take any photographs of the install process as I was in a hurry. I had this shipped to a family member, whom we visited for all of maybe three hours in the middle of a long trip. I arrived at about 1:30 in the afternoon after driving around 2,500 miles from Texas, swapped out tires, installed this hitch, assembled a cargo tray (hitch-mounted), loaded everything up, and was gone by 4:30 for another 2,500 miles to Alaska.

Instructions were a little iffy, but the internet is a great resource. Once I was finally able to get the bumper shell off, the rest of the process was fast.

I have used this to haul a large enclosed trailer, car hauler, recover vehicles, you name it.... and that is all just in the first year! Looking forward to continued use.

Product is great! I installed it just about 25 months ago, and it is still working as expected. Primary use in the last year limited to accessory attachments cargo tray, bicycle carrier and vehicle recovery, but it excels at both.

As far as vehicle installations go, this went about as smooth as possible. Even if you are only slightly mechanically inclined, you should be able to tackle this install. The hardest part was simply removing my bumber (all the plastic clips and screws). The actual hitch install was simple - 4 bolts. Would recommend a heavy duty Impact (I have a 1200 ft-lb) for this job as the bolts may be a bit rusty. The How-To video was VERY helpful and guided me the entire way. 10/10!

Very low profile on my 2017 Porsche Cayenne. The video for install was perfect and made the install a breeze.

Porsche Cayenne

Purchased this hitch for a Porsche Cayenne to tow a 31' RV. The hitch was easy to install, looks factory, and has no rust after an Iowa winter. I think this is a great value!

by:

Super impressed with the quality of the hitch. The installation process was very simple and the videos were very straightforward. Took less than an hour to install the whole thing. Only removed one star because hitch came with a few scratches from shipping.

by:

The hitch along with the installation instructions and the online videos were perfect. The dealer wanted $1750 to install this product on my Audi. Even with all of the technology including sensors and cameras in the bumper, I was able to do it all by myself.

by:
2013 Audi Q7

Great quality build and super easy to install. Literally took me 45 minutes start to finish with cutting out hitch cover.

by:

Needed this fast, called spoke to Shelia, she took care of me. Delivered on time, will most definitely buy from etrailer again.
Shelia you rock.
Thank you kindly.

2015 Audi Q7

Excellent video on installation. One big problem I had on my 2015 Audi Q7 is the 10mm nuts. You cannot use a 1/4 inch drive deepwell socket - it is not deep enough. A 1/2 inch drive socket is what is needed in order to reach the nuts. Also, there were 4 nuts on my Audi 2 on each side one above the other. Other than that it was a fairly easy install. Pictured stud for 10mm nut.

by:

Again… their videos to install are perfect for the do it yourselfers

Still works like intended.

High quality, heavy duty steel and fits great. So easy to put on my 2010 Audi Q7. The etrailer videos were very helpful. Great product!

Easy install, bumper shop quoted $500 for install. 2 hrs and we were done.

2014 Audi Q7

We were quoted $2,200 - $2,500 for the Audi dealership to install a hitch for my 2014 Audi Q7. I was horrified! Started doing some research and discovered etrailer. I watched a video on their website and thought, "I can do this!" So I ordered the hitch and the following weekend I installed it with the help of my husband - you definitely need some arm strength. He also ordered the appropriate tools ahead of time. We did it in about 2 hours. So thrilled!!!

by:

Have not installed this yet, but customer service has been top notch. Materials look great.

2015 Audi Q7

I received the hitch within 3 days of ordering with the free shipping. The install was fairly easy but took me just over 2 hours as compared to the 1.5. Mine was installed on a 2015 Audi Q7. Originally this was designed for the Porsche & VW. All are the same with minor changes to the body so the instructions vary a little from model to model. Unfortunately for me all of the pictures in the installation instructions were for the VW and Porsche. So for anyone looking to buy one for the Audi Q7 I have included a few install pics to make your job easier.
For the second step to remove the screws just behind the tires I recommend using a Torq bit with a mini ratchet so you have plenty of room.
As for the 3rd step, just before removing the body panel, you will need to find the 2 nuts on each side of the vehicle located on the inside just behind the spare tire. Look in the oval holes in the sheet metal(see my pics). You should see the two long screws in each hole. I reccommend using double sided tape on the inside of the socket so you don't drop the nuts in the panel.
To save additional time you don't need to disconnect the wires to the panel. Just set in down lightly right next to the vehicle.
After you have replaced the bumper with this hitch and the body panel, you can cut out the small panel just around the hitch to get a tight fit and make it look like it was factory installed.
Overall I think this is an excellent hitch and the price is right.

I received the shipment timely and the updates while in transit were excellent. However, the shipment had minimal packaging and was in bad shape when it arrived. Fortunately, there does not seem to be significant damage to the hitch and I located all of the parts for the wiring kit.

2013 Audi Q7

I installed the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver on my 2013 Audi Q7. It was a perfect fit, no need to cut any part of the bumper cover as the Q7 has a removable cover intended for hitches and this one perfectly. It looks like a factory install.

Great Product Easy Install

by:
2016 Porsche Cayenne

Fits great on my 2016 Porsche Cayenne Diesel, and it does NOT require any trimming of the rear bumper to install. Looks just like the factory hitch.

Great product would definitely recommend it with easy instalation, does the job and what it was made for.

So happy I went with eTrailer! The money I saved doing it myself versus a dealer/mechanic allowed me to purchase all of the biking gear I needed and more!! Quality product, solid, dependable, and I am confident I will continue to be happy with this purchase. Thank you for providing this solution and enabling me to expand what my Audi Q7 can do. I now feel the car is complete. Thanks again!!

  • Brake Controller and Trailer Wiring Recommendation for 2014 Audi Q7
You'll need to start with a 4-way first to install a 7-way since your vehicle doesn't sound like it has pre-wiring. If you go the rear of your vehicle and you don't see any trailer wiring connectors that's all you'd have to see to know you don't have it. For the 4-way you would want the # 119250KIT. Now if your trailer does not have brakes all you would need is the part # 37185 as an adapter to convert the 4-way to a 7-way. If you are still considering trailers you'd just need to ask...

If you don't already have a 4-Way on your 2015 Audi Q7 then I recommend installing the Curt # C59236. Once you have a 4-Way for the basic trailer light wiring you then need to install the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7. This comes with all of the wiring and connectors that you need so that you have fully functioning 4-Way and 7-Way connectors. The ETBC7 kit comes with a mounting bracket that will match up perfectly with the mounting bracket on your Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 75950. We have...

There was a big enough difference between the Volkswagen Touareg generations that a hitch that fit a 2008-2010 like the Curt # 13220 would not fit a newer body style. For that you'd need the # 75950 and you'd be set.

The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # 118668 which is a fit for a 2013 Volkswagen Touareg requires a power wire to be run from the converter at the rear to the battery in the engine bay per the instructions. When you install the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch # 75950 on your 2007 Audi Q7 the edge of the receiver will line up pretty much right in line with the part of the bumper that sticks out the furthest. I've added a photo of what the hitch will look like when installed so you can see this, but it definitely won't be a hitch that you'll be banging your shins on. If you're going to be towing a trailer with this hitch, you'll also need a wiring harness, ball mount and hitch ball. For wiring...
