Brake Controller and Trailer Wiring Recommendation for 2014 Audi Q7

Question:

How can I determine that my unit has the wiring from the front to rear? I am reading that all q7s have the wiring installed but not connected with out the factory tow package installed. Also, for brake control, what would be needed on the travel trailer... I am not sure what to look for on the trailer not yet purchased to see if everything will be compatible... Thanks for your advice!

You'll need to start with a 4-way first to install a 7-way since your vehicle doesn't sound like it has pre-wiring. If you go the rear of your vehicle and you don't see any trailer wiring connectors that's all you'd have to see to know you don't have it.

For the 4-way you would want the # 119250KIT.

Now if your trailer does not have brakes all you would need is the part # 37185 as an adapter to convert the 4-way to a 7-way. If you are still considering trailers you'd just need to ask the person selling the trailer if there are brakes on it as they will know.

If you do have trailer brakes you would need the # ETBC7 instead of the # 37185 and a brake controller. This kit comes with everything needed to wire up the 7-way and install a brake controller.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.
