Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

I really liked that this product was so easy to install. And watching the 8-9 minute installation video really helped. We were able to easily see where we needed to make cuts to the heat shield, as well as which holes in the frame were used for the bolts. All of the hardware was included, even the wire that pulled the bolt/rectangular washer through the frame. This saved us so much money in having someone else install it!

My personal suggestion: If you live on or drive gravel roads at all....Get an undercarriage wash (or 2) before installation!! My car had been detailed, but not had an undercarriage wash, and it was so dirty with the heat shields and in the frame to put the bolts in.

Great product, easy installation, most of the hour it took us to put it on was spent finding tools, cleaning up dirt, and making the cuts on the heat shield (which still didn't take long). (Pictures of the hitch where it sits installed, and picture of the exhaust lowered with all the dirt from above the heat shield when it was removed.)

The item is as described. The installation has a few challenges due to placing shims into the frame. Instructions are pretty good but most importantly the trailer hitch is a very good one. Fits perfectly the Ford Edge Sport model.

I bought a hitch from etrailer and received it in two days. Everything fit perfect. All hardware was included. I'm a shadetree mechanic, 59 yrs old. It took me about a hour and a half to install. I highly recommend etrailer and the products they sell. Technician I talked to was very professional and very knowledgeable about the hitch I needed. Fixed me right up. I will definitely be a return customer. Other companies couldn't come close to etrailer prices. Very high quality hitch. Thanks for making this easy !!!

  • Will a Trailer Hitch for a 1997 Ford Explorer Fit a 2010 Ford Edge
The trailer hitches for a 1997 Ford Explorer like # 75096 will not fit a 2010 Ford Edge. That hitch will fit the following vehicles only: 1997 - 2001 Mercury Mountaineer 1991 - 1994 Mazda Navajo 1991 - 2000 Ford Explorer 2 and 4 Door 2001 - 2003 Ford Explorer 2 Door 2001 - 2001 Ford Explorer 4 Door The frame and design differences between the 2 vehicles are too great so they have to have unique hitch designs. For a 2010 Ford Edge I have linked the hitches that will fit. For a Draw-Tite...

  • Mostly Hidden Trailer Hitch for 2009 Ford Edge Sport
We do have a concealed Draw Tite hitch that fits your 2009 Ford Edge Sport with the part # 75686 which would be perfect. The Tekonsha wiring part # 118551 is the way to go as well as it's easy to install and very reliable. If you wanted to do some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2009 Ford Edge with All Wheel Drive
The Draw-Tite trailer hitch, # 75992, fits all models of the 2009 Ford Edge except the Sport model so it will fit your AWD model provided it is not a Sport. If it is a Sport, you would use # 75686. In terms of what capacity you should use, you will need to consult the vehicle owners manual to determine what the towing capacity is of the vehicle as equipped and go by that. Even if a hitch is rated higher, you must go by the lowest rated component in the system. A qualified mechanic can...

  • Can Trunk Mount Bike Rack Damage Spoiler on 2010 Ford Edge
The Thule Passage 2 Bike Carrier # TH910XT will be able to transport your bikes safely, but over time there very well could be some damage to your spoiler. This is actually a common footnote for trunk mount racks and is why the manufacturers recommend taking the rack off when not in use. Because of this we try to steer people into using a hitch or roof mount option so that the spoiler will be just fine for years to come. If you'd like to add a trailer hitch to your 2011 Ford Edge then...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2010 Ford Edge Sport
For your 2010 Ford Edge Sport we have the Draw Tite part # 75686 which would fit and work well as a hitch. It's a 2 inch hitch that will only have the hitch opening visible under the rear bumper so it wouldn't be too visible. Then for trailer wiring you'd want the T-One kit part # 118551 which is also a confirmed fit. If you wanted to do some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one...

  • Inexpensive Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendations for a 2009 Ford Edge AWD to Tow a Boat Trailer
For your 2009 Ford Edge, if it is NOT a Sport model then you can use Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 75992. But if it is a Sport model use # 75686. These are both Class III trailer hitches with 2 inch receivers rated for 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. To complete your towing set up I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It includes 2 ball mounts, 2 balls, a hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag. For trailer wiring use # 118551. If your trailer has a...

  • Does Hands-Free Liftgate on 2015 Ford Edge Still Work with a Trailer Hitch Installed
Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 75686 only fits the 2009 to 2010 Ford Edge Sport so you will want to use # 75234 which does fit your 2015 Ford Edge Sport. With hitch 75234 installed Hands-free Liftgate sensor areas may be limited to areas away from the center where hitch receiver opening is located. Because of slight variances in the positions of the sensors from vehicle to vehicle some people experience a little more limitations that others. It will work though. You just have to find the sweet...

  • Recommended Towing Package For Towing a Utility Trailer With a 2010 Ford Edge Sport
I recommend installing the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75686 on your 2010 Ford Edge Sport. I feel this one looks better than the etrailer # e98870 you found as the Draw-Tite has a hidden cross tube which will sit behind the rear fascia. The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56329 will give you a 4-way flat connector. This is the most common connector used on small single axle utility trailers. Our Ball Mount Kit # 989892 will provide you with a ball mount having a 2-3/4"...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for a 2016 Ford Edge
The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75686 that you referenced will fit a 2009-2010 Ford Sport Edge, but it will not fit your 2016 Ford Edge. For your 2016 Edge I recommend the Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Receiver Hitch # 75234 which actually has a higher weight capacity rating than the # 75686. Keep in mind that you will need to check the weight capacity of your Edge and if it is lower than this hitch receiver you will need to go by that weight capacity instead. I have...
