Will a Trailer Hitch for a 1997 Ford Explorer Fit a 2010 Ford Edge
Question:
Will the 1997 ford explorer hitch work on a different year and model ford? For instance, a 2010 Ford Edge?

The trailer hitches for a 1997 Ford Explorer like # 75096 will not fit a 2010 Ford Edge. That hitch will fit the following vehicles only:
1997 - 2001 Mercury Mountaineer
1991 - 1994 Mazda Navajo
1991 - 2000 Ford Explorer 2 and 4 Door
2001 - 2003 Ford Explorer 2 Door
2001 - 2001 Ford Explorer 4 Door
The frame and design differences between the 2 vehicles are too great so they have to have unique hitch designs. For a 2010 Ford Edge I have linked the hitches that will fit. For a Draw-Tite hitch, if your Edge is NOT a Sport model use # 75992. If it is a Sport model use # 75686. I have linked instructions for both hitches.
If you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts, 2 balls, a hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag. For trailer wiring, non-Sport and Sport models both can use # 118551. I have linked instructions for the wiring as well.
