This universal lock replaces a broken or missing lock from your Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series fifth-wheel louvered tailgate.After the 2nd lock on my 2008 Nissan Frontier pickup failed, I decided I needed something more substantial. The problem with the stock mechanism is that it is all plastic where the lock is concerned. Anyone with a small hammer or rock can punch the lock mechanism off of the plastic mount, then push the gate unlocked with a finger in the lock's now empty hole. This product replaces that fragile mechanism with something more secure. I had to create my own piece for the end of the bracket that swivels the gate lock, but that wasn't too difficult with the use of a vise, a hammer and pliers, and a welder.

nice lock and easy set up the reason I didn't give it a 5 star is the lock keys are universal. I didn't need to change lock out because I lost keys old lock was fine so now I have 2 locks

lock does not last long .but the customer service from etrailer was great.
