Replacement Tailgate Lock for Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series Louvered 5th Wheel Tailgate

Question:

I am having trouble getting my key into the lock. I was told to spray wd40 into the lock. I tried that and the key could still not be inserted. It worked fine whe I first installed the tailgate. Wd40 didnt work. What elses could be wrong? Is the mechanism stuck. If so then what? Thanks.
