Today we're going to be taking a look at part number 425600. This is the Peterson Amber Rectangular, Two Bulb, Trailer Clearance Light. It's going to have the molded plastic white base. It's going to contain two VIBAR sockets to extend the life of the incandescent bulbs. All the internal metal parts are going to be tinned brass. It's going to feature a one wire design.

You can see that this is a different type of wiring set up that's disconnected. I'll walk you through how to get that installed as well. This unit is designed to ground through the mounting hardware. It's going to feature a snap on amber lens for easy access to the internal components. These two holes here at the back of the base are going to be our mounting locations. If we take a measurement the distance that we have between those holes, center on center that's going to be 3".

This is a surface mount installation on 3" centers. Taking a look at the overall length it's going to give us a measurement of about 4". The width is going to give us a measurement of about 2". The depth is going to give us a measurement of about 1-1/8". This is Department of Transportation compliant. Again it is going to contain two incandescent bulbs.

In order to get it all set up I find it easiest just to use a flat piece or a flat head screwdriver, something flat to wedge in there to help gain some leverage. That way you can snap the lens off. there's a terminal inside here, it just slides over, press it down and then you can run your ground wire through one of the smaller holes. It's going to feed out of the back of the housing. Once you have that connected simply just replace the lens. Now we can hook it up to power and you can see what it looks like with power running to it. Here you can see that the light sends out . let me get my ground connection made. It sends out a really nice consistent signal. Again it's got two incandescent bulbs, very bright light. That lens allows a lot of light to come through. Again this is Department of Transportation compliant and the light is going to function as a trailer clearance light.
