Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in the jack storage compartment of your rear cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Tail Light Converter

A tail light converter is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. The tail light converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Worked very well - much better than the last kit I used that required cutting, stripping and splicing. Plug and Play is the way to go.

I forgot it wasn’t original equipment. That’s how well it works.

@Kent That's great to hear. It's also much less expensive than the OEM option as well.

by:

Super easy to install, all wires sufficiently long, good instructions, 20 min install, works properly.

by:

The harness worked great although I had to cut the cable to allow it to go through the grommet from inside to outside. I would be great if your manufacturer could slide on a grommet before attaching the connector.

by:

Outstanding parts knowledge and a high quality products!

by:

This harness was easy to install and solved an issue that I could not diagnose with my old harness.

I found the wiring harness fairly easy to install. The video for my make & model helped a lot.

2008 Toyota Sienna

Perfect fit. Online install demo was great, but there is a better way to route the trailer plug to the outside for a more permanent, and out of the way, factory install kind of look .

by:

It was easy to install using the provided instructions, and it seems to works as expected.

by:

Easy to install and has lasted well. Not big on the loose wire just hanging out but I understand there aren't many options.

2004 Toyota Sienna

I bought a hitch, stinger, ball and wiring harness for my 2004 Toyota Sienna. It was delivered fast, it was the right stuff, and it fit, just like it was supposed to. It really was as easy to install as it looked in your video. The video was immensely helpful too. The video showed me exactly what I needed to know to get my hitch installed correctly and it gave me the confidence to order online and do it myself. The only drawback is a loss of ground clearance but you warned me fair and square up front about that, so I can hardly complain. Thank you, that was a good investment.

Still working flawlessly.

2007 Toyota Sienna

Kit came with good instructions and pictures of the installation of the specific car itself, not just some generic pictures. Length of the wires are generous and allowed some flexibility of routing and location of the unit. The plugs snaps solidly into their respective places. Everything works like it should before the car panels and tail lights were put back into their places. Great product! Along with the Curt hitch bar, now my 07 Sienna is ready to tow a boat.

Been a year with lots of use, launching boat in both fresh and saltwater and the wiring is working great!

2008 Toyota Sienna LE 8 passenger, FWD, stock.
Hitch, perfect fit! Wiring harness, perfect length. Time, about 2 beers on an empty stomach.

Tools: you will need a metric socket set.
10mm to remove the rear plastic cover in the trunk (for the wiring harness kit installation), 19mm to install the bolts that secure the hitch to the van. Follow the instructions or [online] it... one can do it... but two is always better than one... unless you two don't get along, then go at it alone...

You may/will also need a drill, heavy duty sheers or hacksaw. Some sort of liquid rust fighter, a pry-bar, various chunks of wood.

Basically, I bought 4 HDX 1/2" fitting brushes from [online] for $x.xx a piece, nipped the handles off, and put them in the drill. Going in the forward direction only (if you set the drill in reverse in an attempt to back out the brush it will literally unwind and come apart), I sprayed rust breaker on the brush and used them to clean out the holes for the bolts. The bolts are metric and a fine thread (meaning the grooves are more shallow than coarse threads, there are more groves, and they take more to clean out, coarse seems to be more forgiving when rusted.).

I used all four brushes to clean out the six holes. As my vehicle was bought used, it had no plastic rear cover so the threads where corroded. The pry-bar and wooden blocks where to hold the exhaust tube out of the way (pry the bar to the side, use the blocks to hold it.

Once the threads are cleaned out, it's a snap. It would be a good idea to put a little anti-corrosion on each bolt before installing (good habit to have.)

Installed the wire harness kit from etrailer. Loved it, would recommend getting some wire protector sleeves and sliding this over the wires for longevity protection. This would prevent the vibrations from driving down the road from wearing through the wires insulation and causing a potential/eventual short circuit...(etrailer.... why don't you offer a protection kit for a few bucks more.... one stop shop hint hint.... I'd pay extra for the convenience and also if it came with more zipties...zip ties.... a lot more zipties..)

Final thoughts: it is my intention to do the following... if you [online] "Michael Byrne air loft review" he has a 2015 dodge grand caravan I would copy.
Install ceramic rated rotors, and ceramic brakes for heavier hauling.
Install air lift helper springs from etrailer... would love to get the compressor kit, but cannot justify the cost of convenience... according to Michael Bryne, the included air hose didn't like the cold and flexing and failed... (so if you live in the cold ranges, due dilligence is probably a good idea).... Thus the airbags collapsed and pinched and tore the bags. He recommends upgrading the air hose to a braided line. I think I will do this, and route it into the van to a T-fitting. Then use the included line to run up to the driver seat before putting in another T-fitting in.. one side will supply a pressure guage that I can see as I drive daily and monitor for low pressure... the other will go the fill nipple located nearbye... That way I can use an air compressor that I already have that runs off of the cigarette port to fill it, and see my pressure from the same spot, that I monitor... (Why etrailer doesn't offer an add on kit of more hose, fittings, and a pressure Guage with a mount kits is beyond me... hint hint... take the idea etrailer... ask $XX extra bucks, one stop shop, and its a heck-of-a better bargain than a $XXX basic compressor kit.... some of us dont need fancy, we need practical)....

I also plan on upgrading the suspension to a beefier, stiffer suspension, as the van tends to be a little soft when loaded down. I put in Monroe load adjusting shocks and KYB quick struts and looooooved them when I had my grand caravan... also had put on 4 all weather tires that roooocked in the snow from tires plus... they where quiet...

I know, I know, why not get a suburban? Sliding doors, that's why, sliding doors = no door dings caused by my children.... it's lower to the ground so my little ones can get in without the risk of falling and cracking their heads on pavement... that and the 24mpg... and it's paid for... and it's a toyota.... plus.... who wants to steal a minivan...

You brought up several good points in regard to the hitch and the harness. We recommend cleaning out the bolt holes thoroughly before beginning he installation. While we do not have a ready made kit we do have wire loom, part # 7509-10, and zip ties part # DW05727-10 available. The idea of a hose kit with a gauge is a good one.

by:

Curt receiver was a perfect fit. Wiring harness also fit well. Both are quality products. On-line instructions and videos were spot on! Parts arrived earlier than expected, which is always a plus. Customer follow up was also an unexpected surprise. Customer reviews and installation videos were also a great help. Would definitely purchase from this vendor again!

The most common reason for the wiring harness to stop working is the ground. You want to make sure the ground has a clean connection to a bare metal surface. The other common issue is the converter box is defective. You can test it pretty easily with a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 by testing for voltage on the input side of the box when the taillight circuits are applied and then testing the output side as well. If voltage is making it to the box but then not to the other side the issue is internal of the converter and it would need to be replaced.

by:

Fast shipping, perfect fit and has functioned well over the last year. It really gave us a lot more adventuring options as a family with a van. The only thing to watch for is if you are installing this on an older vehicle with a pre-drilled/threaded frame for a hitch is that you may need to run a tap through it to clean out the corrosion out of the threads. A small economic investment that really added a lot to our vehicles capabilities.

I got this kit for a 2004 Toyota Sienna. This kit is way simpler and faster to install then the other cut n' splice kits out there, and probably a lot more reliable and trouble free. Installation was easy, once I read the instructions and watched the online video (really helpful and highly recommended). Two words of caution: 1.) Take your time wiggling the "wrap-around" portion of the taillight assemblies off of their two keeper studs. I was fearful of breaking a tail light assembly and the $ involved in replacing one. I Actually used a wood paint mixing stick to help wedge them out. Worked great. 2.) Zip ties are your friends. Use them to keep the harness up and out of the way of the jack and handle mounted to the compartment door.

The guys at E-trailer kept me updated as to where the shipment was. In retrospect I would have paid a little more and chosen a faster shipping method.

Bottom line is the trailer lights work great, the kit assembly quality is top notch, and the install was very smooth and easy.

I will be buying from E-trailer again.

by:

There was no way I was going to splice into my light wiring using a generic trailer lighting kit once I saw how tightly it was wired. Spotted this on the internet and watched the video(very helpful). Cost a bit more but couldn't have been any simpler or quicker to do. Unplug the harness from the lights and plug it into this harness and then this harness to your lights. Only screw up was not being careful enough removing one of the taillights and I broke it so had to get a new tail light.

by:

Well made. Fairly simple to install with some help. Fits great. Harness also seems well made and simple to install. All working well. Be sure to torque bolts properly!

by:
2004 Toyota Sienna

I would give it a 5, but I don't particularly like the fact that it is designed to leave the wire in the jack storage compartment, and then dangle it out the back hatch when you want to use it. There should be an alternative installation procedure that allows you to cleanly install it through the bottom and permanently attach it to the hitch. Other than that everything fit perfectly and it works like a charm.

Jose, thank you for your review. If you would like to route the 4 way connector under the vehicle for a cleaner look you will need to find a grommet hole in the cargo area. If the grommet hole is not large enough or you cannot find a hole in the cargo area you will have to drill a hole large enough for the 4 way connector to go through. Be extra careful not to drill through anything on the underside of the cargo area. Once the hole is drilled then seal up the hole so moisture and fumes cannot get inside of the vehicle. Once you have routed the 4 way connector underneath the vehicle then you will need to mount it to the hitch using a brack such as part # 18144. This mounting bracket will require drilling. For a no drill option use part # 18140 with the bracket.

Product was exactly what was promised. Had adhesive on back of black box to attach inside jack storage area. With the accurate and easy to follow installation video it was done in 30 minutes or less and saved about $400 if had dealer provide part and install.
