Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's factory tow package wiring harness, which is located beneath the rear driver's side of your vehicle. You will find the harness attached to a grommet between the wheel well and the bumper. Once you've plugged in the connectors, insert the included fuse into the in-line fuse holder.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Great

by:
2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

Product quality very high, delivery very fast, shipping container (cardboard box) was not strong enough to support handling/shipment, box bottom was ruptured with hitch assembly hanging out, box should be supported stronger, no parts missing, hitch was scratched up somebut, nothing that a little black paint didn't fix.
I installed the wiring harness connections and fuse box on the external side of the vehicle to eliminate having to take apart the internal sheet metal panels and providing easy access to the fuse in the event of fuse failure, this eliminates the necessity of interior Panel removal to change a fuse.
Easy installation, product has great great design features ,great customer service with prompt delivery. Just ordered the bracket (#18140) to secure the 4 prong plug to the hitch neatly and secure to eliminate the loose plug. (not shown in photos (Bracket in transit),

Excellent all the way, from the Price, customer service to the free shipping that was supper fast, I received my parts a day early. I had asked a question an I actually got a quick answer. I ordered an etrailer hitch,2X2"receiver, 2" ball and wire harness for my 2008 Santa Fe that has a tow package. The wire harness hooked right up to the provisioned connectors on my car and worked. I Installed this by myself using a motorcycle jack to lift it. I think this is really a two man install. The hitch looks and feels heavy duty along with the receiver. First time I have purchased from etrailer and I am very satisfied from the price to the customer service to the quality of the items purchased. I would recomend to anyone.

2012 Hyundai Santa Fe

Quick install on my 2012 Santa Fe that had trailer prep package. All the work is done under the the car. I first removed the rubber gromet and added about 2 feet of flex tubing because all the wiring is exposed to the elements. All I had to do next just was plug in 2 connectors, route the cable and put on a couple of wire ties.

The wiring harness works great on my 2012 Hyndai Santa Fe. Easy to install thanks to the perfect match with the factory harness and cable routing access points and clear instructions provided in the package and on the e-trailer website.

Good pre-sale support and prompt delivery. This is the second time I've purchased from e-trailer and very pleased both times.

Perfectly as advertised, working out great for us.

Wiring harness is just fine. I made the mistake of buying this harness from a local professional shop. The installation was incorrect--I had taken with me a portable computer to show the video and to pull up copies of the directions but the professional would have none of it. The printed version of the instructions were adequate and coupled with the video was perfect. I did the install myself. I canceled the local shop and found etrailer. Even if you're a 70 year old lawyer with no experience with installing this harness, you will do better to handle this chore yourself. etrailer works. I know I should support the local places, but as time passes, I find myself doing on-line. Actually the people on-line are nicer.

by:

Think this is even better than the previous version.
Do have a question as the power/fuse tag specific a 10 amp fuse, but it had a 15 amp fuse installed. Is this CORRECT????? Also used 3M tape to secure it as it does not now include 2 sided tape. Works Great and Super Service. Was delivered as promised immediately after the hurricane!!!

I have confirmed with my contacts at Tekonsha, and there was a slight design change. My contact explained that ether the 10 amp or the 15 amp fuse would work properly with the harness.

It was a perfect fit and an easy install.

by:
2011 Hyundai Santa Fe

Works perfectly. Like an earlier reviewer I installed the entire harness under the rear of my 2011 Santa Fe without removing any internal storage bins. This is a big time saver. After plugging-in the two connectors (your vehicle must have the activated tow package; the connectors alone may not be active) I removed the provided rubber grommet and added additional plastic flex tubing to protect the harness wires. I then securely fastened everything to the frame and hitch. I also added some heavy grease around the joints of the two connectors to keep any moisture out.

by:
2012 Hyundai Santa Fe

If you own a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited V-6 with tow package you do not have to wire anything inside your vehicle. Hyundai did a perfect job of placing the tow wires outside the vehicle and that is just what I wanted. The wiring harnes is long enough to do what ever you want to do with it. Take it off or put it on each time you pull your trailer. Or, just leave it attached as I did and place the little box in a plastic container to protect it from the elements. You can tuck or attach the box in many places under the vehicle. Too many places or ways to show you. Use your imagination and surprise yourself. Don't go through tearing the inside of your vehicle up to mount the unit inside. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DO THAT with the 2012 Santa Fe. You should also place electrical grease inside the connectors to prevent moisture etc. from getting on the part. If your going to leave the wires attached all the time them wrap electrical tape over the plugs once you greased the connectors and presto your protected. How easy is that?

by:
2008 Hyundai Santa Fe

Product installation was exactly as described in written and video formats. Took approximately a half hour to take everything out plug wiring in and put everything back. The only drawback to product was as described by other reviewers, that the zip ties that secure the wiring to the hitch were way too short. I had some so it wasnt a problem, but the really should include zip ties that are more than 4" long. Other than that, another great product and product description from etrailer!

by:
2011 Hyundai Santa Fe

I received the hitch and light kit in 4-5 days from order placement. Installing the hitch was not a problem and it fit perfectly. The only recommendation is to be sure to clean the bolt holes on the car frame with lubricant and a small diameter wire brush as this will help during installation. Installing the light kit was a breeze and took less than an hour.

by:
2012 Hyundai Santa Fe

The trailer and harness seemed to fit just fine. It's a bit of tight squeeze getting the hitch mounted behind the Santa Fe muffler but I managed. I used the video guide on YouTube to aid me in installing the electrical harness and that worked just great. I can't wait to test it out with a small trailer!

by:

Easy install.

by:
2011 Hyundai Santa Fe

This wiring harness worked great. With the help of the video here on the website, installation was a breeze! The only issue was the tie-wraps were not quite long enough to go around the trailer hitch bar, but I had some longer ones in my toolbox, so not a big deal.

by:
2012 Hyundai Santa Fe

Installed on a 2012 Santa Fe with trailer package. Factory wiring connections are underneith vehicle behind left rear fender. Is not necessary to remove any of the panels inside vehicle. Found out after removing interior panels. Would be easier to connect before installing trailer hitch. Connections are right beside driver side mounting bracket. Surge box is mounted on side of hitch mounting bracket. Hope it is water proof.

2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

Excellent service and high quality products. Installation instructions were clear and precise. My wiring harness is better than the factory original at a fraction of the price. It arrived quickly and had all the hardware necessary for installation. Very happy i used etrailer.

by:
2012 Hyundai Santa Fe

Easy installation on a Hyundai Santa Fe 2012 with the tow package. All you have to do is pull the caps off the already installed connectors under the left rear fender, plug in the harness and route the wires.

The module looks sealed so I have no problem with just attaching it to the hitch.

Only reason for not "excellent" is the zip ties included are way too small. You'll have to buy your own larger zip ties to attach the wires to the hitch.

by:

Did not know that the interior panel had to be removed to install harness. It was not to hard to do, but the average owner would have to go to a shop to have it installed. Overall I'm very happy to recommend this product and etrailer parts and acc. to all that are looking for these items. Thank You for having such a WONDERFUL STAFF that helped me with my purchase. All the Best to you and them, JSharky

by:

We received the wiring harness sooner than we expected and that was a pleasant surprise. The installation too less than 20 minutes from start to finish and was very easy. We are looking forward to using our new hitch and wiring harness to tow our boat. Thanks etrailer for the great service and for providing such great products.

by:
Hyundai Santa Fe

Functions advertised. POOR design (for Hyundai Santa Fe) puts fuse and connections behind interior body panel. Significant disassembly required if fuse blows. Previous model much easier to install and fuse & connectors could be serviced without disassembly if required. Installation video is fairly accurate, but does not make apparent potential for damage to body panel clips. Product pricing is consistent with similar products in market. No issues with shipping. Overall, have had good luck with etrailer and would use them again in the future.

Part looked a little different than the web site but was obviously the same part just a manufactures change. Directions where very easy to follow and everything went exactly as described. Only wish I had ordered a 4-wire flat mounting bracket at the same time
