To answer your question, you'll need to determine the function of those other two wires. If I had to guess, I'd say your pop-up most likely has a 6-way connector. What you described sounds like a shorted out converter box. Nearly every time one of the boxes fails the symptoms you described are what happens. Also, the Curt harnesses are notorious for shorting out easier than the Tekonsha. I would recommend you go with the part # 118410 after seeing if you can find the short that's on your trailer's wiring.

You should use 2-wheel drive for normal towing conditions. In extreme weather conditions like snow covered or muddy roads that would normally require 4 wheel drive. That said, the 2019 Kia Soul owner's manual says the following regarding towing in Section 6, page 114:

Make sure the ground is attached to a clean bare metal surface and then recheck the lights. I spoke to my contact at Curt and after I explained to him your situation he said the problem is either you are overdrawing the converter box of the # C56049 or are overdrawing the taillight circuits of your 2009 Kia Optima.
His advice was to convert your incandescent trailer lights to LEDs as they draw considerably less which should fix your problem.

What kind of tester are you using? I'd use an incandescent bulb tester like part # PTW2993 on the vehicle trailer connector while each function is activated. Turn on right turn signal, test pin fed by green wire. Turn on left turn signal, test pin fed by yellow wire. Turn on running lamps, test pin fed by brown wire. Applying the brakes should cause the pins fed by the yellow and green wire to show voltage.

I took a look at the online version of the owner's manual for your 2016 Kia Sorento and if it's equipped with the tow package there should be a 30 amp fuse for the trailer wiring connector inside the under-hood fuse box. It sounds like you have a short and possibly a loose or damaged connection somewhere. A short like this is usually caused by corrosion in a trailer connector or a pinched or damaged wire. The first thing I recommend doing is making sure the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, # 118526, is directly connected to the positive battery terminal on the vehicle via the included fuse and holder. Any other 12 volt source is not sufficient.
