I spoke with Thule for you and confirmed that the Thule Motion XT Rooftop Cargo Box part # TH629906 is a fit for a 2007 Mercedes-Benz GL450 with factory roof rack. However, in order to be sure that you can open the hatch fully with the cargo box in place you'll need to measure the distance from the center of the front crossbar to the point where the roof and hatch meet on your roof. I called my contact at Hollywood Racks and asked about the # HRF2 and how it fits with your 2012 GLK350.
They told me that the spoiler on the back of a GLK350 are not structurally sound enough for the hooks to attach to. In order for the # HRF2 to be able to fit your vehicle you would need raised side rails on the roof of the vehicle. However, this is more of a minimum measurement and you can absolutely space them out further if you need to more evenly distribute the weight over your roof. I reached out to the manufacturer and the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13102 rated for 3500 lbs is the confirmed fit for your 2013 GL 550. This is the correct fit from 2008 through 2013 models.

I'm not sure why U-haul would say it's fine when it clearly isn't, but the problem with the Mercedes is that there isn't enough power draw, so you'd need to use a lamp-out adapter:

I would not recommend using a hitch extender with your FullSwing bike rack either. Normally an inch of clearance between the rearmost point of the rack and your vehicle is still a safe amount of space. For a 12,000 lb. electric car trailer winch like the Bulldog Winch Trailer Winch part # BDW10040, I recommend a standard 12 volt lead acid battery rated up to at least 650 cold cranking amps (CCA).
