Confirming Trailer Hitch Receiver Fit for 2013 Mercedes Benz GL 550
Question:
I have a 2013 Mercedes GL 550. The hitch that comes up when i search your site says it is a 3500 pound class 3 hitch. The car is rated for 7500 pounds. Also, the instructions pictures show installation on a 2012 GL, which is a different body type. However, if I search the 2014 GL 550 - same car as the 2013 but a year older - I find a different hitch and it has a capacity of 7500 lbs. That is what I need. And the pictures for the 2014 search are of the same body type as my car w166. I am wondering if you have it mislabeled some how? I am hoping so cause I need the higher capacity hitch. Thanks

I reached out to the manufacturer and the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13102 rated for 3500 lbs is the confirmed fit for your 2013 GL 550. This is the correct fit from 2008 through 2013 models.
The # C13190 is rated for 7500 lbs but is only a fit for 2014-2016 GL 550 models.
Unfortunately with the # C13102 being the only fit for your vehicle, you will be limited to the 3500 lb max towing capacity.
For your wiring harness, the only confirmed fit we have is the # 119250KIT which utilizes zero contact interface sensors to capture the wiring signal without splicing into the wires.
Finally, I recommend the etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit for 2" Hitches # 989900. This kit comes with two hitch ball options as well as the different rise or drop options of 2 draw bars. It comes with the pin and clips and a storage bag for convenience.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
