Where To Mount the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack on a 2010 Mercedes-Benz GL450

Question:

I would like to know the best location for mounting MPG215 on a Mercedes 2010 GL450. the 24inch separations seem to close. I thought close to A pliers and supports of factory rack support, that is over 33. Over the back doors. The factory roof rails have 3 supports. Can you help?

The instructions for the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack part # MPG215 state to position the crossbars 700mm or 27" apart on center to start with. However, this is more of a minimum measurement and you can absolutely space them out further if you need to more evenly distribute the weight over your roof. There are similar systems for your 2010 Mercedes-Benz GL450 which have a crossbar spread of up to 60".

The B and C pillars will offer the most strength on your vehicle's roof but Malone does not specify where exactly to place the crossbars aside from their spread. There may be information on this in your owner's manual but if not you will just need to use your best judgment. So long as you are under your roof's weight capacity you should not have any issues.
