Your 2014 Mazda CX-5 can be fitted with two sizes/classes of trailer hitch, either a 1-1/4-inch Class II or a 2-inch Class III type, but since you are looking into 4-bike platform carriers I will trust that you have a higher-capacity 2-inch hitch. If not, please let me know.
One important consideration for any hitch rack is the clearance needed for it to safely clear the rear-most part of your vehicle. In this case that will be the bumper. Bike racks offer varying amounts of clearance... view full answer...
Hands down my favorite bike racks are the Thule Helium Aero series such as # TH9043PRO. Basically, the rack has a great set of features. It has the integrated cable lock, cradles with road-dampening technology, built-in anti rattle and locks, and it weighs only 19-1/2 pounds.
The Kuat Alpha, A102-Black, for 2 inch hitches or A102-BLACK-114, for 1-1/4 inch hitches are no longer made but when they were they were excellent racks and weighed just over 14 pounds. If you wanted a rack that would... view full answer...
The biggest difference between the Draw-Tite # 76138 trailer hitch and the Curt # C13315 trailer hitch that fit your 2018 Mazda CX-5 is the Draw-Tite has a higher tongue weight (675 lbs) and towing (4,500 lbs) capacity than the Curt (600 lbs tongue weight, 4,000 lbs towing).
While you should never exceed the towing capacity outlined in your '18 Mazda CX-5's owner's manual I do recommend going the Draw-Tite # 76138 because those capacities speak to its strength and durability. This hitch... view full answer...
For the 2013 Mazda CX-5 the Tow Ready wiring harness # 118563 is a powered converter that requires a direct connection to the vehicle battery to power the trailer lights. This protects the vehicle wiring and electrical components from damage. Because this unit uses a powered converter it will have a higher amperage rating (if the trailer has a lot of lights) than the Curt harness.
The Curt harness # C56011 does not require a connection to the battery so it gets all of the power from the... view full answer...
That's a good question because the differences can certainly be subtle. The 2" trailer hitches that fit your 2019 Mazda CX-5 are the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76138, etrailer.com Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98902, and Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13315.
The most significant difference between the three hitches is going to be ground clearance, as both the Curt and etrailer hitches will measure about 13-1/4" from the ground while the Draw-Tite is about 12-1/2". And while this may... view full answer...
That is a great question. Our pricing reflects the manufacturer pricing and many other factors at any given time. If you are interested in that Curt hitch, then I recommend the etrailer.com hitch which is identical to that hitch with the difference being the powder coat color. The # C13315 is gloss black and the # e98902 is the matte black carbide finish.
Your other option for the higher rated capacities is the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76138 which has a slightly... view full answer...
I'd be happy to help you decide on a trailer hitch for your 2019 Mazda CX-5!
The first thing to note is that there are trailer hitches with a 1-1/4" receiver and hitches with a 2" receiver. You definitely want to go with a 2" receiver because it opens up the opportunity to use a wider variety of accessories with the hitch. With that being said, there are 3 options for your vehicle; the etrailer.com # e98902, the Curt # C13315, and the Draw-Tite # 76138.
All 3 options exceed the weight... view full answer...
There are a few differences between the Yakima RidgeBack 4 Bike Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting # Y02458 and the Yakima FullTilt 4 Bike Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting Y02462. The first is the overall length of the rack. The Yakima FullTilt is a bit longer because it measures 14" from the center of the pinhole to the back of the upright mast. The RidgeBack, on the other hand, measures 11-1/2". Secondly, the weight of the racks are different. While the FullTilt weighs 47 pounds,... view full answer...
I can confidently say that both the Large (16 cu ft) # TH6357B and the Extra Large (18 cu ft) # TH6358B fit your 2015 Mazda CX-5 as Thule has confirmed this on their end of things.
With that being said, I don't think you're going to have a problem with the cargo box hanging too much over your windshield, but I'm actually not entirely sure about the hatch clearance simply because we haven't had the opportunity to test it out yet.
I can say that large needs 47-1/2" of front clearance while... view full answer...
We almost always recommend a 2-inch hitch option over a 1-1/4-inch when there is a choice. This is for 2 reasons: the higher weight capacity of the larger size and its broader compatibility with the available range of hitch-mount accessories, more of which are made to fit 2-inches hitches than 1-1/4-inch hitches.
In terms of stability in the hitch your Thule Helium Pro 2 rack # TH9042PRO may be very slightly more stable when used in a 1-1/4-inch hitch like Curt Class II # C12170 that does... view full answer...
Yes, the only difference between these light bars is that the # MCL97RPG has the 0.180 male bullet at the end of the wire and the # MCL97RB just has a regular wire you'd use a butt connector like part # DW05744-5 for the installation. Other than that everything else is the same.
I have attached review videos and photos for you to reference the differences as well. view full answer...
The difference between the Class II and Class III hitches has to do with their Gross Trailer Weight (GTW), their Tongue Weight (TW), and their Hitch Receiver Size. Class II trailer hitch receivers have a 1-1/4 inch receiver and can be rated up to 3,500 lbs in GTW and up to 525 lbs in TW. Class III, on the other hand, have a 2 inch receiver and have up to 8,000 lbs GTW and 800 lbs TW. I will attach a help article that goes in to more detail for you.
A good example of a Class II hitch that... view full answer...
Tekonsha and Curt both offer trailer wiring harnesses for your vehicle. Between the Curt # C56377 and the Tekonsha # 118746, I'd suggest the Tekonsha, as it has a higher amperage rating at a pretty similar price. If you click the provided link, you can see a video of the harness being installed. view full answer...
The only difference between the Ignik Backside Heated Seat Pad with 12V Car Adapter # GN27FR and the Ignik Backside Heated Seat Pad # GN34FR is that # GN27FR also includes the 12V Car Adapter for Ignik Heated Accessories - 6' Long # GN87FR. view full answer...
Your current 5.7-8 tires are 5.7 inches wide and 18 inches in diameter. Moving to 145/80r12 tires would give you the same width, but a larger diameter of 21.1 inches. If you want to stay with your current size tires I've linked the page to all your options. This will give you a height difference of 3 inches and that reduces your wheel well or fender clearance by 1.5 inches. You need to account for suspension travel, but if you have enough clearance you can swap out your wheels and tires.

If you imagine that you are on the side of the road, in the cold, wet snow, with other vehicles going by you can probably guess that you would want the chains that are going to be the easiest to install. Something that you won't have to put on, drive a little, and then get out again to adjust.
If you go with the XG12 Pro chains for your 2014 Mazda CX-5, # TH01594245, you will have chains that are easier to handle and you won't have to manually adjust them. For me, that is well worth the... view full answer...
You are correct that there are 2 choices for a Curt hitch for your 2021 Mazda CX-5. The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12170 and the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13315 are both made in the USA and feature a bolt-on, no-drill installation. The difference comes from the Class of hitch. The # C12170 is a Class II hitch that features a 1-1/4" receiver opening. While the # C13315 is a Class III hitch that features a 2" receiver opening which is the most common size used for hitch mounted accessories... view full answer...
The Kuat Sherpa 2.0 # SH22G is certainly tough to beat when it comes to ease of use and design. If I were to recommend an option at a lower price point it would be the Kuat Transfer V2 # KU84FR.
The Transfer V2 has a goal post design that makes it easy to get in close while loading and unloading bikes. It still has the foot lever for tilting, a locking cable, the pivoting rear cradle that self-adjusts, and ratcheting hooks to mount your bike by the wheels. It comes in 5 lbs heavier than... view full answer...
Since the Draw Tite Hitch part # 76138 that fits your 2021 Mazda CX-5 has a slightly higher towing capacity than the Curt # C13315 it would be my recommendation as best option.
If you were looking for trailer wiring too the Tekonsha kit part # 118746 is best option as it has easiest install and most reliable converter box. view full answer...
Both the Curt Hitch Class III Reciever # C13315 and Draw-Tite Class III Reciever # 76138 are confirmed to fit on your 2016 Mazda CX-5. Both receivers are basically identical as they have the same weight bearing capabilities and install in the same manner.
If you are interested in using your hitch for towing, you will need a hitch ball, ball mount and pin and clip. I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118563 and our hitch ball mount kit # 989900 which comes with two hitch balls,... view full answer...
