The Curt Multi-Ball Adjustable Ball Mount for 2" Trailer Hitches # D900 that you referenced would be a great solution for what you are looking for. This is a longer ball mount as it has 15 inches from the center of it's hitch pin hole to the center of the hitch ball and would not limit weight capacity like a hitch extender would. It is also adjustable in height and has all three hitch ball sizes. view full answer...
We do offer various trailer wiring adapters to allow connecting a vehicle and trailer that use different connector types and all such adapters can be see on the linked page. For an adapter to join a round-pin 7-way on the vehicle to a 7-way blade (RV style) on the trailer you can use the Hopkins # HM47425.
Note that it is possible that the trailer may have a different wiring configuration than the vehicle and adapter. For the long term, if this same trailer is the primary one to be towed... view full answer...
I typically do not recommend folks deviate from the manufacturer's installation instructions because all the development, testing and engineering work has been done with a given product installed in a particular manner.
I spoke with my contact in the tech services department at Roadmaster, who told me that they haven't had ANY reports of this occurring. Changing to a grade 8 bolt and using a thicker washer would be fine. He's guessing that in this particular instance the bolts started... view full answer...
I have a solution for you, but as far as a simple adapter like the part # 20142 that would plug into your 7-way round there isn't an option available.
Instead you would need to install load resistors on all of the taillight circuits of your trailer that have LEDs. For a pair you would want the part # DI34ZR. view full answer...
It sounds like you're in need of the Wheel Masters 2-Hose Inflation Kit - 16" to 19-1/2" Inner Dually - Hand Hole Mount # WM8009, which will work on 16" to 19-1/2" inner dually wheels to allow you to check the air pressure and inflate the tires as needed. These are stainless steel wrapped, so they've going to be protected from the occasional pinch and other wear and tear that might ruin simple rubber valve extenders.
I've linked a review video on these for you to check out, and they come... view full answer...
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13388 is a confirmed fit for your 2012 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. The reason the hitch does not fit models with 30-3/8" frame, measured outside to outside of frame is because the normal frame on the Sprinter is wider. To confirm the fit on your Sprinter, you can measure the 35-1/2 inches from the frame hole center to center where this hitch mounts. I've attached a photo to assist. view full answer...
You are 100 percent correct with what you need to add a brake controller to your 2012 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter with the 4-way and then 7-way:
- T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118650
- Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7
You will first install the 4-flat, which will activate your trailer's lighting functions, and you'll then plug that into the 7-way that comes with the # ETBC7, which also gives you the wiring, circuit breakers,... view full answer...
For your 2014 Mercedes Sprinter 3500 with 144 inch wheelbase and factory step bumper you will use hitch # 75601. But to be sure you can measure the width of the frame. Frame width is measured from the outside of one frame rail to the outside of the other. If your measurement is 30-3/8 inches then this hitch will NOT fit your van. view full answer...
There are some wires that are hot all of the time which is why we usually try to emphasize that the brake controller, like the Prodigy P3 # 90195, needs to be connected to the cold side of the stop light switch when installing the Kit # ETBC7.
Sometimes a vehicle will not have a wire connected to the cold side of the stop light switch which is what you are finding. In that case you will simply need to install the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751475. This is typically used for... view full answer...
Under the seat of your 2012 Mercedes Sprinter there should be a harness with a green connector. That will be the brake controller harness. We don't have an adapter that plugs right in but you can cut the connector off and hardwire directly to the wires of the P3 part # 90195. We have some info on the wiring colors of your vehicle but I would recommend you test them with a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 first.
Attach the red wire on the controller to the black wire with the brown stripe... view full answer...
Since your 2015 Mercedes Sprinter has the factory connector for a brake controller (and I assume a 7-Way connector at the back) you just need the brake controller itself. I recommend the P2 # 90885 because it is easy to set up and use and it is reliable. It comes with a universal harness that you will splice the factory 4-Way harness to. I linked a video featuring this controller on a 2014 Sprinter which will be similar to your 2016.
I don't know the color functions on the factory harness... view full answer...
The trailer wiring I recommend for your 2011 Sprinter is the T-One, part # 118650. This attaches to the vehicle wiring located in the rear cargo area behind the tail lightson both sides of the Sprinter. You will need to remove some of the interior panels to gain access to the connection points. You will then need to run the hot lead wire to the positive battery post using the included fuse holder.
The brake controller I recommend for you is the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller,... view full answer...
The Curt RV Bumper 2 inch Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # E-100 is intended to fit 4 inch square channel bumpers on the rear of an RV. If the bumper on your Sprinter is a 4 inch square this will work great for you.
This receiver has a 350 lb tongue weight capacity and 3,500 lb gross towing weight capacity. A note from Curt states that this is intended for use with RV-approved accessories only. All non-trailer loads - bike racks, cargo carriers and so forth - should be supported with stabilizing... view full answer...
The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75549 fits a 2012 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500 with the 170" wheelbase (and standard bumper) and as long as it does not have the 30-3/8" frame, measured outside to outside of frame.
If you have the factory step bumper then you need the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75601 instead which has the same criteria for fitment.
If you're looking to tow with the Sprinter then you need the T-One Wiring Kit # 118650 and a ball mount kit... view full answer...
The Curt hitch item # 13358 is a confirmed fit for your 2016 Mercedes Benz Sprinter 2500 Model 170 with OEM bumper step. The spare tire can be reinstalled after installation and removed when needed without any issues related to the Curt hitch item # 13358. I have attached a picture that demonstrates the hitch receiver installed on a 2016 Sprinter Van with the spare tire in place. view full answer...
I checked with Roadmaster and they list the rear anti-sway bar # RM-1209-128 as the correct fit for a 2011 Mercedes Sprinter 2500. I have also included a link to an FAQ article that covers stability control for heavy duty vehicles that you might find helpful. view full answer...
On a 2 wheel drive vehicle you want to at least have chains on the drive axle. If it's a rear wheel drive vehicle then you would go with the rear axle and vice versa for a front wheel drive vehicle.
Ideally having chains on all 4 wheels will provide you with the best possible traction for braking, turning and accelerating. Before you install chains on your vehicle you will need to check with the owners manual of the vehicle to determine if there are any restrictions on chain usage.
