  • Installing Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera # HM50002 on 2001 Ford Ranger
  • I spoke with my contact at Hopkins and most likely the reviews that you have seen were from the previous model of the Smart Hitch Backup Camera. In the past they had a small programming glitch which has since been corrected. The Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera and Hitch Aligner System, # HM50002, would be a great addition to your 2001 Ford Ranger and now has great customer reviews with no complaints of there being any malfunctions.

  • Installing a Redarc RED44FR on a 2021 Ford Ranger
  • The Redarc # RED44FR will only apply the brakes when the brake pedal or manual override is depressed. However, if the emergency braking system engages the brake lights to inform drivers behind you are braking, you could wire the Tow Pro brake signal to the trailer plug brake wire and capture all braking situations. From what I could find, this is basically what the SST-4000G will do. With this being a pretty new thing though, there wasn't a lot of information I could find about it.

  • What Fuse Feeds The 12v Pin On The Trailer Plug Of A 2019 Ford Ranger
  • I looked up the online owners manual for a 2019 Ford Ranger. This shows the fuse for the trailer module is in spot 73 and it will be a 30 amp fuse. These newer ford trucks have a smart tow feature. So the12v power at the 7 way will only be turned on when the trailer is hooked up, your truck is turned on, the transmission in gear, the brake pedal depressed and the setting through the in dash menu is activated.

  • How To Tell If 2021 Ford Ranger Lariat Has The Factory Tow Package
  • If your 2021 Ford Ranger has the factory towing package it will have a factory installed trailer hitch receiver, and a 4-way/7-way connector. If you do not have these components then your truck does not have the factory towing package. I suggest the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver, # C13417, and the Curt T-Connector 7-way Connector, # C56431. Please note the linked product review and installation videos below.

  • To install the Brophy 2-Inch Hitch Ball # SC23-C on Fulton Ball Mount # F47CR you will use a suitable torque wrench (one like # ALL944001) to apply 250-ft-lbs of torque on the nut. I confirmed this with my contact at Brophy Machine Works.

  • Will Installing SSR54FR SoftStart For RV AC Units Have Any Warranty Implications
  • Your AC warranty is protected by the by the federal Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act. This act states, in part, that unless the installation and/or the part caused a problem then the warranty cannot be voided. In the real world though, it's certain that a manufacturer such as Dometic would have more than a few attorneys at their disposal that could make simply replacing an AC unit less expensive than fighting a warranty denial. All this being said, SoftStart RV states on their website, and...

  • Does Sway Control on 2021 Ford Ranger Need to be Turned Off With Blue Ox TrackPro BLU36FR
  • Yes, you should turn off the sway control on your Ford Ranger when using the Blue Ox TrackPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control # BLU36FR. Blue Ox has found the two will essentially counteract each other, so disabling the factory sway control will actually give you the best performance.

  • How Much Does The Fastway WDH # FA94-00-0800 Weigh
  • The Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control # FA94-00-0800 weighs 79 pounds. The weight of the hitch will not be added to weight that you will be towing. It will just maximize the vehicle and hitch capacities, so it will not have an impact on the cargo carrying capacity. If you have any other questions please feel free to reach back out to me anytime and I would be more than happy to further assist you in your towing endeavors.

  • What Is The Wiring Configuration For 4-Way Round Connector
  • On a flat 4-way connector, the standard function is Green is the right turn signal and brake, Yellow is left turn signal and brake, White is ground, and Brown is the running lights, used when the headlights are on. You may want to test the wires for function just to be sure. You can use a circuit tester like part # PTW2992 for that. I have attached a photo that shows typical wiring for a 4-way round connector.

  • Should The Light On The Tekonsha Primus IQ Always Be On
  • Your Tekonsha Primus IQ brake controller will remain on to store store your settings. The power draw wouldn't be enough to drain the battery unless you were leaving it sitting for months at a time so you really don't need to worry. If you want to cut the power you can just remove the connector in the back of the controller to cut the power. There are other brake controllers that will shut down the lights the vehicle is turned off, like the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR,...

  • How Secure is Pace Edwards Switchblade Tonneau Cover on 2021 Ford Ranger w/ 5 Foot Bed
  • When the tailgate is up and locked on your 2021 Ford Ranger with a 5 foot bed, it will be an absolute chore to open the Pace Edwards Switchblade Retractable Hard Tonneau Cover # 311-SWFA30A61. While the Switchblade isn't impenetrable, it has aluminum panels so it can't be easily punctured, is tightly clamped to the bottom of your bed rails and sits flush with the sides of your rails so it also can't just be opened up or removed. Essentially, when you have the Switchblade # 311-SWFA30A61...

  • Will Using Rampage Heater # RA3501 Drain Battery On 1985 Ford Ranger Overnight
  • The Rampage Radiant Backseat Heater, part # RA3501, has a 300 watt output. If left on all night, it will probably drain the battery on your 1985 Ford Ranger. I would recommend a second battery as the power source for your heater. It would eliminate the need to hook the cables from the heater to the truck battery. I also recommend a charger like the NOCO Genius # 329-GENIUS5. This charger will automatically switch to trickle mode to maintain the charge on the battery, which prevents overheating...

  • The Hopkins Tail Light Isolating Diode System # 38955 includes 4 diodes. Each of the diodes carries a 3-ampere current rating; I confirmed this with my technical contact at Hopkins. I have linked for your reference an installation video for this product showing use in a Ford vehicle.

  • Is The Bestop Supertop Collapsible Bed Cover # B76302 Waterproof
  • I contacted our representative at Bestop to inquire about the Supertop Collapsible Bed Cover, part # B76302. The representative informed me that part # B76302 is weather resistant but is not waterproof. For an item to be waterproof it must be able to keep water sealed out when submersed under water. The material of part # B76302 will resist rain, but there is a chance that water can get in from the seams or zippers of the cover. Also, if the cover is stretched too much from water puddling...

On our site alone we have over 50 unique keys for replacement options so it isn't like there are 2-3 different possible keys someone could use to get the rack off. If you're planning to add the # Y00426 to your 2022 Ford Ranger you will also need the BaseLine Towers # Y28TR and the BaseClip Fit Kit # Y06124. • How Does the Curt Clamp-On 3 Bike Rack Help Deter Theft of the Bike Rack
  • As-is, there is minimal theft deterrent with the Curt Clamp-On 3 Bike Rack # C18013; Other than inconvenience. The rack can be a little cumbersome to break down as there are a couple steps needed and those steps are made more difficult with bikes loaded because you have to use the handle and knob on the crossbar to get the rack to start collapsing again to remove it from the draw bar. With your bikes loaded that will be difficult, but not impossible. Especially if they remove the bikes...

  • Is There a Specific Setting Required For The Curt Echo Brake Controller On a 2019 Ford Ranger
  • There is no specific settings for the Curt Echo Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 on your 2019 Ford Ranger when towing your 20ft travel trailer. You will want to drive with the brake controller and find the settings that feel best for you. You want to feel the brakes on the trailer working to slow you down but not so aggressive that it is braking harder than your Ranger. Remember that no 2 trailers are going to be exactly the same, so what may work correctly on one trailer may be to much...
