Should The Light On The Tekonsha Primus IQ Always Be On
Question:
Wiring harness installed and all tests are good but the Teconsha Primus Q controller has power even after the engine is shut down. The display shows two dots all the time and I am concerned about battery drain. Do I need to add an ON/OFF switch or disconnect the controller when shutting down?

Your Tekonsha Primus IQ brake controller will remain on to store store your settings. The power draw wouldn't be enough to drain the battery unless you were leaving it sitting for months at a time so you really don't need to worry. If you want to cut the power you can just remove the connector in the back of the controller to cut the power.
There are other brake controllers that will shut down the lights the vehicle is turned off, like the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR, if you'd like to switch over. If so, you'd also need the universal wire harness part # RED69FR.
