Will Using Rampage Heater # RA3501 Drain Battery On 1985 Ford Ranger Overnight
Question:
I have a 85 Ford Ranger with a cap/Camper Shell over the Bed. I thought of wiring this Unit directly to the Battery with Fuse, so when Camping I could have Heat Back there. Do you know if this Unit will Drain my Truck Battery if left on overnight? Thanks!

Helpful Expert Reply:
The Rampage Radiant Backseat Heater, part # RA3501, has a 300 watt output. If left on all night, it will probably drain the battery on your 1985 Ford Ranger.
I would recommend a second battery as the power source for your heater. It would eliminate the need to hook the cables from the heater to the truck battery. I also recommend a charger like the NOCO Genius # 329-GENIUS5. This charger will automatically switch to trickle mode to maintain the charge on the battery, which prevents overheating and battery failure.
