Electric drum brakes such as # AKEBRK-35L-SA will use nut/lock washer hardware kit # BRKH10BS and the nuts should be tightened to 45 to 50-ft-lbs. If you need a torque wrench we offer several such as # ALL644044 as well as Torque Adapter # PTM206 which fits any 1/2-inch ratchet. view full answer...
Most vehicles with factory 7-ways have the 12 volt accessory circuit hot all the time. So the # ETBC7 fits the normal 7-way wiring setup as it would allow that circuit to be active all the time. As long as it's not connected to anything it wouldn't draw anything though.
We do offer an isolation solenoid like the part # PK5231201 if you did want to make it so that the circuit is only active when the vehicle is on. view full answer...

Once you unplug the ITBC (OEM brake controller) and plug in the Prodigy P2 # 90885 using the # 3021-P wiring adapter, the P2 should be operational. However, doing this will trigger a warning message on your instrument cluster, which won't affect how the trailer brakes work. If the presence of the message doesn't bother you, you can leave it as it is, and go on your way. If you want the message removed, you'll need to take a trip to the Dodge dealer to preform the procedure outlined in the... view full answer...
For your 2003 Ram 2500, the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class V - 2-1/2" # DT45509 is a fit with the factory hitch. The bed does not need to be removed but you will remove 6 bed bolts and then use a 2 inch wood block between the frame and the bed. There is some drilling involved with this installation. I've attached the installation instructions to assist. view full answer...
Assuming that you're using the Husky # HT31566-686 fifth wheel install kit you referred to, the rear edge of the front bed rail would be 48-7/16 inches forward of the rear edge of the bed (not the rear edge of the tailgate.) The hitch itself will help you place the rearmost rail. I've provided a diagram from the installation instructions for you to look over.
If you'd like to install a 7-way trailer connector in the bed of your truck, you can do so using part # 41157. I'll link you to... view full answer...

The plastic strips on the bottom of the Hi-Rise Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter by Bulldog, Draw-Tite and Reese # 9480 you are installing on your 2002 Dodge Ram 3500 Long Bed go in the grooves of the bed floor.
This is to give a level surface for the hitch to rest on, and the added fiction helps keep the hitch from wanting to rotate.
I included a link to the written instructions of the # 9480 for you to take a look at. view full answer...
We do appreciate your continued patronage and I think we can assist you with this.
If you can't find the plug and the dealer doesn't offer any help on this, then you can hard wire in the controller to your 1997 Ram 1500, so you will be able to install the controller it'll just be a bit more time consuming. You will need a circuit tester like the # PTW2993 to test wiring functions under the dash, and you may need some butt connectors like the # DW05745-5 to complete your wiring connections.... view full answer...
Yes, if the total length of your wiring with the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger - Dual Input - DC to DC # 331-BCDC1240D is approximately 28 feet, we recommend using a 4awg application. Yes, the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885 continues to draw a small amount of power even when the trailer isn't plugged in. After about 15 minutes of the tow vehicle being turned off and no movement the controller will go into sleep mode which is where that 3.6 milliamps comes into play. This isn't enough to drain a good battery overnight or even over a weekend, but you'll want to disconnect the controller if the vehicle won't be used for a few weeks.
This is pretty standard for brake controllers... view full answer...
You will not need to have your Ram 1500 computer flashed in order to use the Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller, part # 90195. You will only need to use the plug-n-play harness you referenced, part # 3021-P, to connect your Tekonsha P3 to your Ram under-dash brake control port. It may be necessary to instal some fuses under the hood to activate the tow wiring but if your Ram has the factory tow package these should be in place already.
The first section of the linked article covers the controller... view full answer...
I spoke with my contact at Tekonsha about installing an aftermarket brake controller on a 2010 Dodge Ram 3500 with factory installed brake controller. He stated that you will get that error message and you will not be able to clear it. It is indicating that something is wrong with the factory unit and will remain as long as the factory unit is disconnected. It will not impact an aftermarket brake controller when installed, the aftermarket unit should still work properly.

When a weight distribution system is installed but the trailer is not yet loaded to the actual tongue weight (TW) for which that system is rated, it is not unusual to find a jumpy or choppy ride quality. These systems are tongue-weight-sensitive and they will typically deliver a too-stiff ride quality when the truck/trailer TW is not within the stated operating range for the system.
The Fastway e2 system # FA94-00-0600 works over a TW range of 400- to 600-lbs. If the actual TW is less... view full answer...
We have never come across this 15 amp maximum. Take a look to see how that 12V feed is fused. I would consult the owners manual to find the location of the fuses that manage the towing circuits on your truck. They are usually located under the hood. Usually the 12v power feed for the brake controller has a 20 amp fuse for a 2 axle application. If you are concerned about it, you can always run a separate hot lead via a 20 amp circuit breaker like part # 9506 to the battery. For a two axle... view full answer...
