Will Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller Continue to Draw Power if a Trailer Isn't Plugged In

Tekonsha trailer brake controller P2. States that it draws 3.6 milliamps when not in use. Does it still draw current if a trailer is not plugged in?

Yes, the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885 continues to draw a small amount of power even when the trailer isn't plugged in. After about 15 minutes of the tow vehicle being turned off and no movement the controller will go into sleep mode which is where that 3.6 milliamps comes into play. This isn't enough to drain a good battery overnight or even over a weekend, but you'll want to disconnect the controller if the vehicle won't be used for a few weeks.
This is pretty standard for brake controllers so it will be hard to find one that doesn't have this type of feature.
