How to Transport 176 Long Canoe on 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 5-1/2 Foot Bed
Question:
Hey I am wondering what the best rack solution would be for mounting a 176" canoe on my crewcab 2015 Silverado 1500 truck short 5.5 bed . The two options I am looking at are: 1. Thule Goalpost with a single roof rack 2. Truck Bed Rack like the ADARAC system I have a tonno cover, so the Adarac looked like a good system If you have any suggestions on stability or which is a better solution for that size of a canoe, that would be much appreciated!

If the existing tonneau cover on your 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 installs completely inside the bed rails (and doesn't extend to the tops of the rails at all) your best option will be with a ladder rack to support your 176" long canoe. This will provide the strongest support setup for the canoe, offer an easier setup process each time you head to the water (compared to attaching a heavy, awkward goal post unit to the hitch before every trip), and also just adds a lot more versatility since you can use the ladder rack to transport other cargo items when needed.
The Adarac Ladder Rack systems that you referenced do work great with inside-the-rail tonneau covers, and for your 2015 Silverado I specifically recommend the Pro Series # A4000963 for your 5-1/2 foot bed.
This durable, rust-proof ladder rack setup will work great for your canoe with its 500 pound weight capacity and utility channels that let you actually slide the vertical uprights along the bed to create the best spacing for your canoe and anything else you might secure to the bars over time. Four adjustable load stops are included
You can secure the canoe directly to the bars with the appropriate tie-down straps or you can add a carrier like the Inno # INXA445, which will provide softer support to prevent any scratches or scuffs on the water craft. I have attached a couple short video reviews on these products below that you can check out as well.
