One of the more popular cooling systems available, the radiator-style, plate-and-fin heat exchanger provides increased surface area so that fluids can spread out along the finned chambers to cool faster. In addition to the increased surface area, this cooler also features turbulator technology, whereby fluids are agitated continuously, not only to facilitate heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in pressure.

1998 Lincoln Mark VIII
Have a 1998 Lincoln Mark 8 w/ 4 speed automatic which retails for no less than $ 4000.00 - Having this potential monkey on my back , I decided to invest in a trans cooler. Fabricated mounts and bolted on , used double flare connection to cooling line w/ barbed fitting ; barbed fitting @ radiator fitting. Used 2 hose clamps @ cooler, one clamp on each barbed fitting . Could only mount with fittings to left ,fluid leaves radiator , enters cooler @ top ( to reduce pump load ), comes out of bottom & returns to tranny. No trans temp. guage, but cooler gets hot @ idle, verifying cooler works . Well constructed and sturdy, easy to mount ; comes with instructions. 296567
Product still working flawlessly no signs of rust or corrosion ,mounting is still secure , no leaks

It’s been almost a year since I installed this transmission cooler. I would say it’s gone without a hitch, but THAT would be inaccurate. I also installed a hitch! I placed great confidence in this transmission cooler to do its job as my 2015 Honda Accord V6 served as my truck during our move this past year. Never a problem (ok, I’ll say it... It went without a hitch!).
etrailer customer service was EXCELLENT! There was a question during installation that arose from my particular model of car having a Transmission Fluid Warmer that in effect made identification of the transmission outlet and inlet reversed according to the instructions. The technician actually read and considered what I was saying, instead of just assuming the instructions applied to my vehicle. Thanks to their input, I correctly reversed the directions and got the correct solution!
BTW... I attached some pics of the correct hose routing for the 2015 Honda Accord V6. Note how you simply remove the short hose shown in the first pic, and connect the hoses from the transmission cooler! Note that I mounted the transmission cooler vertically so the hoses would reach. The last pic is showing the transmission fluid warmer (just as an FYI).1344742
I installed this transmission cooler about a year ago. Install went easy but I did have The bumper off as I was replacing the radiator. I think my temperatures are down by about 15°. The only reason I did not give it five stars is that I probably could’ve used a larger one.1308206

I now have had the cooler installed for 2 yrs. Works great. Recently was towing up a long grade, about 6 miles, temp stayed in a decent range the entire climb, even at a reasonable speed.

2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek
Although the website said this fit my car, it didn't. etrailer is good if you don't have to return anything. I've done a lot of business with them and have been satisfied but when I had to return this the return shipping was a third of the price of the item. Not good.1607294

I am not sure as to how the installation was attempted however the manufacturer does show this to be a fit for a 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek with a 2.0L H4 Engine. It is specifically designed for Subaru XV Crosstreks with late-model, electronic overdrive transmissions. The radiator adapter that comes with the kit will fit most vehicles with a five sixteenth transmission line but not all. In some cases, additional fittings or alteration of the OEM lines or hoses may be required for installation. The label that we send will allow the part to be returned via UPS ground. Using our label is not required if you have a way of shipping it back that is more economical. You will just want to make sure that it is trackable.

Dodge Grand Caravan
I was lucky enough to have Etrailer install this on my Grand Caravan (they made a video). I drove 800 miles towing a 6x12 enclosed trailer with NO problems. It kept my transmission cool towing through the mountains. I have towed smaller trailers with the minivan that made it shift strange. After installation, all better.17549
Very easy to install! Installed on a 2014 Toyota Sienna. Installed lower right quadrant. Make sure you have an extra hose clamp to complete the installation ( if you are using the insta adapt as a hose slice) very good design!

My CVT performance has benefited from it greatly! It was overheating causing shuttering & delayed response when accelerating from a full stop after being ran for many miles in hot ambient temperatures.1613889

2004 Oldsmobile Alero
Product was as described on the website. Installation took a few hours - no where near as easy as shown on the installation video - to install on my 2004 Alero. The challenge is that the upper line transmission cooler line is the line you have to route the cooler hoses to and mounting the cooler and getting the lines routed up to the top of the radiotr houseing required removal of the front bumper, loosening the radiator mount (from below the car - there are two wing nuts) and then CAREFULLY drilling a 11/2" hole in the plastic molding that completely covers the front upper portion of the radiator. Then you can route the hoses through the hole. I bought the optional GM fittings and that made connecting the hoses very easy. 17938

2003 Honda CR-V
I found etrailer.com on random search in the internet after we bought our CRV and started researching hitches. U-Haul, whom I use often I use often and like very much, wanted $400 for the hitch, harness and transmission cooler. I found all three on etrailer for $200, and they delivered it quickly (and I mean quickly) and it wasl well packaged, etc. I figured I was a handy person, and thought how hard could it be? Well not only where the products high quality, the instructions clear and easy, they videos are a life savers for people who do better "seeing" a process, rather than "read" about a process. The hitch took me 20 minutes, the harness 20, and the Transmission Cooler about 45. Thank you etrailer for the pleasent experience, I am already going to order a few accessories for ouu CRV, and guess where I will be buying them! In case is was unclear, etrailer all the way.136377

I did not install this trans cooler myself. Installer said the supplied hose clamps were somewhat weak, and one broke during install. So far, seems to be working well, but it is still winter in Wisconsin and the hot weather/trailering test is yet to come.1275757

2011 Nissan Rogue
The cooler itself fixed my Nissan Rogue limp problem completely fine, the installation was annoying, but nothing I didn't expect from it. The only problem I had with this product was that the hose that came with the kit was not long enough for both the return and arrival lines, I had to go to a local auto shop in order to get another hose to complete the installation.698217

2006 Pontiac Grand Prix
My tranny fluid was running hot on my 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP. The transmission on these cars is known to not be able to handle the power of the engine too well so I wanted to do anything to help it out. I had this cooler installed to supplement the factory cooler.
I am not towing anything so a large cooler isn't a necessity. So far, this cooler is working as I expected, keeping the fluid below 200 degrees with the temperature outside above 100! Though a larger cooler would probably get the temp closer to where I'd like it, there is not much room in the engine compartment for something much bigger on my car.19828

The product arrived in a timely manner and was as advertised. The product included all hardware needed to install it onto the vehicle. The only problem I had was identifying the transmission lines and determining which line was the hot side and which was the return side. This was no reflection on the product, but more detailed installation instructions would have been nice. The installation videos on the website contributed greatly to my decision to purchase the product.17382

2001 Buick Century
Installed the Derale 8000 because my 2001 Buick Century would shift hard when it got hot outside. So far i've driven it a week and it's been shifting smooth. The Derale Snap-In Radiator Adapter installed easily with no leaks. I suggest getting extra hose. Needed another 12" to complete.199118

2015 Subaru Forester
Looks like its well made but hose is only about half of what I will need as this does not just enhance the build-in cooler but must be connected all the way back to the transmission from in front of the radiator. Install will be in a 2015 Subaru Forester 2.5i.392008

We have traveled over 4500 miles and all has worked great for us.
So when it comes to aftermarket transmission coolers there aren't any that are designed specifically to fit certain vehicles like your 2019 Volvo XC90. And the rule with transmission coolers is that because you cannot overcool fluids, you want the largest cooler you can get to fit; I have added a cut out of the instructions from Derale transmission coolers which shows this.
The type of cooler is also important, and I recommend a plate and fin cooler because it uses smaller plates that... view full answer...
The Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit part # D13501 is an excellent option for your 2008 Ford Escape with the 3.0L V6 engine. The kit comes with a 11/32" diameter transmission hose that is designed to be used on vehicles with 5/16" transmission lines.
When we installed this cooler on a 2008 Ford Escape with the 2.3L I4 engine, we did not need any adapter or special fitting outside of what is included in the kit as it had 5/16" transmission lines. However, it was a different... view full answer...
For almost all situations I recommend going with a Class III hitch over a Class II when both are available for a vehicle. Especially if towing since the Class III hitches have higher capacities. For your 2013 Subaru Forester you would want the Draw Tite hitch part # 75650. I prefer the Draw Tite hitches as they don't require the stabilizer strap like part # 18050 that the Curt requires.
For trailer wiring you then would want the part # 118467 which I attached an install video for as well.

The Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit part # D13501 is my recommendation for a 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon. It will do a great job of reducing the transmission fluid temperature when towing in any climate. It should be the perfect size for the available space in front of the radiator and behind the grille.
I do not recommend any sort of thermostat bypass for this application. view full answer...
The best transmission cooler for your 2021 Toyota 4Runner is going to be the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets - Class III - Efficient item # D13503. The radiator-style, plate-and-fin heat exchanger provides increased surface area so that fluids can spread out along the finned chambers to cool faster. Bigger is always better when it comes to transmission coolers. The Derale measures 11" wide x 8-3/4" tall x 7/8" deep. The transmission coolers are pretty... view full answer...
A transmission cooler is not a vehicle specific item. Since the best spot to install a cooler is directly behind the grille, in front of the radiator and A/C compressor, we recommend choosing the largest cooler that will fit in that area. Yes, the Derale # D13501 will fit your 2012 Nissan Altima but you will need to do some measuring to find out where the best place to install it is.

The amount of transmission fluid you'd need to add after installing a transmission cooler like the Derale # D13501 really depends but typically it's around 1/2 of a quart. I wouldn't totally adhere to that figure though as the amount that spills out during the install process will vary. Best option is install the cooler with extra fluid nearby and then add as needed once the process is complete. view full answer...
The Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, item # D13501, is a Class II efficient transmission cooler and would definitely help the transmission on your JK, but since you are towing 2,000 pounds I would recommend a bit larger Class III cooler like the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, item # D13503.
You cannot cool transmission fluid too much, so the Class III cooler will provide better cooling when towing and will be good for the transmission around... view full answer...

For your Vibe, the Derale Series 8000 Class II Transmission Cooler, part # D13501 would be your best choice. You want to install the aftermarket cooler so that the transmission fluid flows from the transmission to the OEM cooler to the aftermarket cooler back to the transmission.

A lot of vehicles have external transmission coolers similar to the Derale Transmission Cooler # D13501 that you referenced. Some of these coolers are adequate for towing whereas others do not keep the fluid cool enough.
My understanding is that there are two transmission coolers on your 2013 Nissan Frontier. One larger one integrated into the radiator and a smaller one downstream of that one.
What we often recommend is installing a larger auxiliary cooler downstream of the cooler in... view full answer...
A transmission cooler is not a vehicle-specific item, it can be installed on just about any vehicle that has an automatic transmission.
The best and most efficient place to install a cooler is directly behind the vehicle grille, in front of the radiator and A/C condenser. You'll want to choose the largest cooler that will fit in the space available. The cooler will tap into the return line from the radiator to the transmission, as shown in the help articles I've linked to.

On a transmission cooler there are three basic types of heat exchangers. The most efficient is the stacked plate. The next one is the plate and fin, which is very efficient. Then, the tube and fin which is moderately efficient.
It will also matter where the heat exchanger is installed. The best spot for the greatest efficiency is between your vehicles grille and the AC condenser core on your 2007 Jeep Liberty. The next best spot is between the AC condenser and the radiator. This spot will... view full answer...
The best way to pick out a transmission cooler is to check out the area in front of the radiator to determine how big of a transmission cooler would fit in the available space. The bigger the cooler you can fit the better. Especially since you plan on towing something as heavy as a vehicle.
The Derale Transmission Cooler part # D13501 that you referenced is a smaller plate and fin cooler that would work decently, but I would go with a bigger one if you can fit it.

To be able to run a brake controller in your 2003 Nissan Frontier there are a few things you would need. You would need a 4 flat harness which it sounds like you already have. For a brake controller I recommend Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller, # 90195. This is one of our most popular brake controllers and the easiest to use and setup.
To wire the Prodigy brake controller on your 2006 Honda Odyssey you will need to have a 4-Pole trailer connector on your vehicle. Then, you will have to hardwire the brake controller... view full answer...
The three transmission coolers are basically the same cooler in different sizes. They're the same width (11 inches) and depth (7/8 inches) but they're different heights:
