How To Choose Correct Ball Mount for a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan

Question:

I dont yet own the trailer Im planning to tow with this but it is advertised as having a hitch height of 17. The tongue weight empty is around 110lbs and with the kids in our van, it squats a bit. Can you give me some advice on what type of rise I should order for your 2inch receiver? Also, I figured Id install a transmission cooler. If you could point me towards the suggested one of those Ill buy that too. Link to the trailer specs it is the 5x9 highway deluxe

The trailer hitch I recommend for a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan is the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver part # e98854 which has a hitch height of 13". The difference in hitch height of the trailer will be the rise/drop you need to look for in a ball mount. I always recommend an adjustable ball mount as this allows you to tow multiple different height trailers. The Rapid Hitch Adjustable Aluminum Ball Mount Kit part # AM3460 is a great choice made of aluminum so it's lightweight and has multiple hitch ball sizes. It offers up to a 4" rise or drop so it will work great for your setup used in the rise position.

Don't forget the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C56331 to complete your setup. For a transmission cooler, the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit part # D13501 would be a great fit.
