product from Pollak is always great but they packed it with steel couplers and destroyed it

It is a direct OEM replacement, easy installation. What I liked most was a real person answered my call and took my order, Katherine was very polite and knowledgeable. Thanks again. CJ

No issues at all.

Worked out awesome. I bought this for a buddy for his used truck. The previous owners for what ever reason took it. Plugged it in and worked flawlessly.

by:
2004 Nissan Titan

The 3 star rating is because this is not a direct replacement for a Nissan Armada. I bought this to replace the original socket on a 2004 Nissan armada. The hitch on the car says it is a Nissan hitch. I did not notice that the original socket mounted as a twist lock type and the bracket had no mounting screws when I ordered this socket. In defense of the manufacture and distributor of this socket the description did not say it was a direct replacement for an armada the assumption would be that the hitch would be the same as a titan. This was no big deal for me since I had a drill and bits to drill mounting holes and used # 8 sheet metal screws. Just have to be careful to drill the holes the right size so they self thread properly. I have been looking to see if there is a direct replacement for the original socket but can't seem to find one not even on Nissan's parts web site so I guess you just have to do what I did. I didn't think to take a video of the installation but I have included a picture of the finished install.

The transaction went great. Delivered on the time I was told good product

by:

It fit perfect and was literally plug and play.

by:

I had to replace the socket in my truck after I forgot to disconnect the plug when setting up my camper 1 year ago. Since then, I've connected the camper 35 times and pulled it over 6,000 miles. I have had no issues at all with the new socket.

2016 Porsche Cayenne

It fit right up to my 2016 Porsche Cayenne diesel. A very simple installation.

by:

Perfect OEM quality!!!

by:

Still working after a year. Performs as expected. Easy to install.

by:

This is it!! If you have a Porsche Cayenne with a tow package (mine's a 2017) and you're wondering why the wiring "connector" that came from the factory is just a plate with nothing to plug in to... This is the thing you need! It fits the holes in the mounting bracket perfectly and plugs right into the harness coming out of the car (after you carefully release the little clip holding the clip connecting the plate to the harness (no, that's not a typo). I also purchased a matching 7 to 4-pin adapter, so I can easily connect to either. And etrailer had it all... and made it easy. Quick shipping, just as promised. Love e-Trailer! :)

by:

Easy to install and has worked every si nce

1995 Ford F-250 Super Duty

After redoing my trailer wiring harness to put a socket in the bed of my 1995 F250, I used this to replace the old socket in my bumper. Saved me having to do more splicing and hard wiring in the old socket.

After a year of use, this is still working great. I don’t use it a lot as most of my towing is of the 5th wheel using the in-bed connector.

2000 Toyota Tundra

Hi, I am a ASE Certified Automotive technician for 30-plus years. I have to say these parts are Factory quality, the option for Direct Fit everything plugs right into the wiring harnesses fits as if they came as original equipment with the vehicle and the same quality. When ordering parts if you call and speak to an operator that extremely helpful and actually know what's going on. And their tech support this extremely knowledgeable.

by:
2008 Porsche Cayenne

This is the original plug and play. For VW SUV's this does the trick. I recommend using some anti-seize on the bolts that secure this into the mount. I have this on both an Audi and a Porsche both work great. The picture shows what the car some with so you simply plug this unit into the factory socket and secure with 4 machine screws.

by:

Nice fit to my factory harness. This was a replacement for the factory hitch mount. I decided to drill a hole and mount in the bumper like I’ve seen on other vehicles. This makes for a convenient and protected location.

by:

Wrong Pollak product. needed Pollak 12-705 6-24 volts Female (truck)

by:

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Brake Lights Not Working with New Light Assemblies
It sounds like your lights weren't the issue and most likely you have a wiring problem. To begin troubleshooting, I recommend disconnecting your trailer and using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to first test each function on your vehicle side wiring. I've attached a video to assist. If you don't have that function, the issue is on the vehicle side wiring, and you most likely need to replace a fuse or the harness itself. If you have the trailer wiring working correctly on your vehicle,...

  • Troubleshooting Weak Turn Signal at Plug on 2009 Chevy Silverado
Since you are getting signal but it is weak, you most likely have an issue with a bad ground connection or a short in the wire. First, I recommend checking the ground connection and making sure when you trace it you have a bare metal to metal connection free of debris or corrosion. Next, I recommend tracing the wire of your left turn and stop signal checking for any physical signs of wear like exposed wire or corrosion build up. If there are no physical signs on the wire, then I recommend...

  • Interior Trailer Lights are Not Working but All Exterior Lights Do Work
You will need to determine what circuit the lights on your trailer are connected to. If the lights are hooked up to either the 12-volt circuit on the 7-Way or the auxiliary power circuit, then it could just be a matter of making that function active on the vehicle side. If the lights go first to a trailer mounted battery, make sure the battery has a charge and that the power wire and grounds are intact. They can also be tied into the running light circuit so you would check it as well. To...

  • Which Pin on 2015 Ram Trailer 7-Way Normally Carries Reverse Light Circuit
If the 7-way of your 2015 Ram is going to carry the reverse light circuit it will be on the center pin. This is typically the reverse light circuit but sometimes is an aux pin like you mentioned. Usually the pin in the 1:00 position is the 12 volt accessory circuit.

  • Replacement 7-Way Recommendation for 2008 Chevy Tahoe
There is an easier solution for your 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe. You can use the OEM Style 7-Way and 4-Way Trailer Connectors for Ford and GM Trucks, item # HM40975, to install a 7-Way and 4-Way connector at the back of your vehicle. The connection point is located above the spare tire and simply plugs in to the HM40975. The mounting bracket is also included with this item, and the existing connector just plugs into the rear of the trailer connector. You would not need to hardwire in a 7-way.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Left Turn Signal Getting No Power at Vehicle 7-Way on 2015 Chevy Silverado
I recommend using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test the pins in the connector behind your 7-way. If you disconnect the back of your 7-way and test the corresponding pin location, you may have power there. If so, then you simply need the replacement 7-way # PK11893. If not, then I recommend tracing that wire probing every couple of feet to determine where there is a short. Replace that wire with # 16-1-1 sold by the foot as needed using connectors # DW05744-5.

  • Troubleshooting Brake Controller Wiring of 2005 Chevy Silverado Not Working with Brake Pedal
For your generation of Chevy truck the issue you are having is almost always the third brake light fuse being blown. When this circuit is dead it also kills the brake controller wiring circuit that shows voltage when the brakes are applied. Try pressing the brake and seeing if the third brake light above the cab comes on and replace the fuse as needed.

  • Trailer Left Side Running Lights are Dim
If it is only the running light on the left side that is dim then the most likely issue is still a weak ground. You may need to run a jumper ground from that tail light assembly to another location. This is especially true if there is a license plate bracket between the tail light assembly and the trailer frame. When you are testing the light are you doing so with the trailer coupled to the ball? If not, and you do try it with the trailer coupled to the ball and it starts working fine...

  • Troubleshooting No Longer Getting Trailer Battery Charge From 1999 Ram 7-Way
The first thing I recommend doing is testing the 7-Way at the rear of your Ram with a circuit tester like # PTW2979. Test the pin located at the 1 o'clock position and make sure you are getting appropriate power when the truck's running. This is the 12V charge circuit so if the tester isn't showing anything you know the issue is somewhere on the truck. If you do get power then the problem is somewhere on the trailer side. If you did not get power with the tester then you will want to...

The small battery is actually used to power a break away system, like the Hopkins Engager Push-To-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit # 20099, or electric jack like the etrailer.com Electric Jack w/ Footplate # EJ-3520-BBX, but should not be affecting the lights in the trailer. What sounds like is happening is a bad ground. I would check all your ground connections making sure they are not corroded or disconnected. A bad ground can cause all sorts of weird things to happen. It also doesn't hurt...

The Hopkins Endurance Multi-Tow Twist-Mount 7-Way RV part # HM40920 is designed to use a pre-existing bracket welded to the trailer hitch. You simply insert it into the opening and turn to lock it in place. If this bracket is no longer usable, usually due to rust then you can get a new mount using two parts, part # 18138 and part # C57202. Probably your best bet would be the 4 to 7-way Adapter, part # 37185. Your existing 4 pin connector would plug into the adapter.
