product from Pollak is always great but they packed it with steel couplers and destroyed it

No issues at all.

Worked out awesome. I bought this for a buddy for his used truck. The previous owners for what ever reason took it. Plugged it in and worked flawlessly.

by:
2004 Nissan Titan

The 3 star rating is because this is not a direct replacement for a Nissan Armada. I bought this to replace the original socket on a 2004 Nissan armada. The hitch on the car says it is a Nissan hitch. I did not notice that the original socket mounted as a twist lock type and the bracket had no mounting screws when I ordered this socket. In defense of the manufacture and distributor of this socket the description did not say it was a direct replacement for an armada the assumption would be that the hitch would be the same as a titan. This was no big deal for me since I had a drill and bits to drill mounting holes and used # 8 sheet metal screws. Just have to be careful to drill the holes the right size so they self thread properly. I have been looking to see if there is a direct replacement for the original socket but can't seem to find one not even on Nissan's parts web site so I guess you just have to do what I did. I didn't think to take a video of the installation but I have included a picture of the finished install.

The transaction went great. Delivered on the time I was told good product

by:

It fit perfect and was literally plug and play.

by:

I had to replace the socket in my truck after I forgot to disconnect the plug when setting up my camper 1 year ago. Since then, I've connected the camper 35 times and pulled it over 6,000 miles. I have had no issues at all with the new socket.

This is it!! If you have a Porsche Cayenne with a tow package (mine's a 2017) and you're wondering why the wiring "connector" that came from the factory is just a plate with nothing to plug in to... This is the thing you need! It fits the holes in the mounting bracket perfectly and plugs right into the harness coming out of the car (after you carefully release the little clip holding the clip connecting the plate to the harness (no, that's not a typo). I also purchased a matching 7 to 4-pin adapter, so I can easily connect to either. And etrailer had it all... and made it easy. Quick shipping, just as promised. Love e-Trailer! :)

2000 Toyota Tundra

Hi, I am a ASE Certified Automotive technician for 30-plus years. I have to say these parts are Factory quality, the option for Direct Fit everything plugs right into the wiring harnesses fits as if they came as original equipment with the vehicle and the same quality. When ordering parts if you call and speak to an operator that extremely helpful and actually know what's going on. And their tech support this extremely knowledgeable.

1995 Ford F-250 Super Duty

After redoing my trailer wiring harness to put a socket in the bed of my 1995 F250, I used this to replace the old socket in my bumper. Saved me having to do more splicing and hard wiring in the old socket.

After a year of use, this is still working great. I don’t use it a lot as most of my towing is of the 5th wheel using the in-bed connector.

by:
2008 Porsche Cayenne

This is the original plug and play. For VW SUV's this does the trick. I recommend using some anti-seize on the bolts that secure this into the mount. I have this on both an Audi and a Porsche both work great. The picture shows what the car some with so you simply plug this unit into the factory socket and secure with 4 machine screws.

by:

Nice fit to my factory harness. This was a replacement for the factory hitch mount. I decided to drill a hole and mount in the bumper like I’ve seen on other vehicles. This makes for a convenient and protected location.

by:

Thanks George

  • Troubleshooting Tekonsha Sentinel Brake Controller Malfunction
Although newer controllers have a 'sleep mode' they enter into after 15 minutes or so of inactivity, the Sentinel should show no lights if the brakes aren't being applied and there is no trailer connected. The standard troubleshoot would be to disconnect the blue wire exiting the rear of the controller by cutting it. Be sure to leave enough room to reconnect the wire. If severing the blue wire makes the lights go off, you have a short somewhere in the brake output circuit between the brake...

  • Wiring Truck Cap Brake Light on 2007 Chevy 1500
The brake light and turn signal circuits on trailer connectors like the Pollack # PK11893 are run off of the same wire, and it sounds like you might be trying to wire up a 3rd brake light for your 2007 Chevy 1500. You're not going to be able to use the signal from the 7 way connector, but we can help you find the wiring that you're needing in order to accomplish this. In order to do that, the best way is to tap into the Center High Mount Stop Light (CHMSL) circuit which should be present...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Running Lights Not Functioning on a Trailer
Sounds like the ground circuit maybe isn't sufficient for the right side of your trailer lighting. Try improving how the light assemblies on that side of the trailer ground and you most likely will get the lights to function properly. If the lights ground through the mounting hardware you can try cleaning the mounting area or run a jumper wire from there to main ground wire of trailer or if they ground through a wire you could run a jumper wire there as well. I attached a couple help articles...

Yes, use the Pollak # PK11893 replacement connector socket to replace a broken socket on your 2005 GMC Sierra HD. If you need a mounting bracket you can use the Pollack # PK12711U.

  • Wiring a Camper Shell Third Brake Light on a 2011 Chevy Silverado
Like you said, most trailers in the US have what is called a 2-wire or combined system with the turn signals and brake lights on the same circuit. You would not tap into the tow package wiring if you need just a brake light signal. There is a dedicated brake light only wire located up under the dash and to the left of the steering column. It is with a wire bundle held together with a white tag. There should be an orange wire that is the center high mount stop lamp wire (CHMSL) that you...

To change your 7-way round pin connector on your vehicle to a 7-way blade connector the wire connections are different. The best way to connect the wires on your vehicle to the 7-way blade connector is to use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993, and to test the wires for function. It is confusing to try to wire by color because the wire colors can vary. I can tell you what function goes to what location on the 7-way blade connector on the vehicle. • 7-Way/4-Pole Trailer Connector for 2017 Toyota Tundra That Doesn't Used Sideways Swinging Covers
I believe the Tundra uses the # HM40975 for the trailer connector. Typically they fit pretty tightly, so we haven't got much in the way of comments about folks having the difficulty you describe. For a more traditional-style connector that would still provide both a 7-way and a 4-pole connector, I'd recommend the use the # C55774 replacement connector. This trailer connector assembly uses a top-hinged cover/keeper for the trailer plug, and would very likely work better than what you currently...

There you will have the third brake light signal and the bed light/dome light that illuminates the rear. Sounds like there's a short between the stop/turn circuit of both sides of the trailer. So what you'll want to do is determine first if the problem is on the vehicle or trailer side of the wiring. Best way to do that is use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to test the pins on the 7-way for voltage in all of the right places. See attached picture. If the voltage is good on the 7-way the short is somewhere on the trailer wiring and you'll need to trace the wiring back on both circuits...

We have new 7-ways you can install in your 2003 Chevy Silverado to replace the factory connector, and each of them are going to use the factory wiring, which will plug directly into the harness. I recommend the Pollak Replacement 7-Pole, RV-Style Trailer Connector Socket - Vehicle End # PK11893 because it is a direct factory replacement which will be simple to use and install. Have you checked the relays in addition to the fuses? If not then this would be the next thing I check. You can swap a relay out that you know is working for one that is not to do the above. I will say that the vast majority of cases with this issue will be attributed to a blown fuse so make sure to inspect the element inside the fuse carefully as it is not always obvious it is blown. Once this is done your next best option would be to trace the wires back while checking for breaks. If...
