Recommendation for Replacing a 7-Way Plug that Was Cut Off a 2007 GMC Sierra 2500
Question:
I bought a 30955 round 7 prong trailer plug from you. It has a round water tight plug on the other end of the plug. Someone cut the harness off my 2007 Sierra 2500hd and I was wondering if u have the opposite end of this plug that I can splice to the cut end of my wire harness. If not do you have a wireing diagram for this truck so I can splice what I have to the plug? Thanks

Helpful Expert Reply:
Where was the harness cut? Is it between the 7-Way plug and round socket on the # 30955 harness, or is it behind that, on the factory wiring?
If it was the # 30955 harness that got cut, it would be easiest to go ahead and replace it.
If the factory socket was cut off, then you could use the Pollak 4-foot pigtail # PK11998 to attach the # PK11893 7-Way plug you referenced. We do not have a specific wiring diagram for your 2011 Chevrolet Suburban, so you would need to use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to determine the functions of the wires in the factory harness. The color configuration on the # PK11998 pigtail is:
Red - Left Turn and Stop
White - Ground
Blue - Electric Brakes
Green - Right Turn and Stop
Black - Battery
Brown - Running Lamps
Yellow - Backup Lamps
I am including a video of the # 30955 harness being installed on a 2007 Silverado, as well as link to a wiring FAQ if you need some diagrams to reference. Please note that the colors on the # PK11998 harness I mentioned are different than the industry standard colors listed in the FAQ. You always want to connect by function and not by color.
