Video Transcript for Bargman Wiring - Trailer Connectors - 50-87-007 Review

Today we're going to be taken a look at part number 50-87-007, this is the Bargman seven way super sealed connector, with seven foot cable. We're going to have the pre-wired seven way car end sealed seven way cable. It's going to feature the solid brass terminals, and we're going to have the industrial strength, glass filled, thermo plastic housing. It's built for strength and durability. It's going to have the heavy duty, stainless steel spring, the lid will close automatically, so it's got the spring operated lid. On the bottom of the lid we're going to have a nice rubber gasket, that's going to create the lids super seal, which is going to keep the connection points protected from the elements.

Again we're going to have seven feet of wires, that's going to be protected by a nice thick wire casing. To get this mounted it's going to require a two inch diameter hole, and it's also going to have mounting holes right here on the housing. The distance that we have from the center of this hole, to the center of this hole is going to be an inch and a half, it's going to be the same on this side as well. Then going across the connector, center on center, those mounting holes are going to be separated by two and one quarter of an inch. Your hardware in not included. When it comes to the wiring right here, you can see that they're all color coated.

Green is going to be for our running lights, red's going to be for left stop, and turn, white's going to be our ground, yellow's going to be auxiliary, blue's going to be electric breaks, brown is going to be right stop, and turn, and then black is going to be for your battery charger. It's always a good idea when installing to go ahead and double check the wires by function, and not just rely on the color coating. The color coating may be correct, but it's always a good idea to go ahead and double check by function. That's going to do it for today's look at part number 50-87-007.

I am totally impressed with the quality of the 7-way Super sealed connector w/7' cable - car end # 50-87-007 ! It is even better than I expected and totally sealed to prevent corrosion. The 7-way trailer connector mounting box # 18157 is a perfect way to mount the connector. If you looking for the best, long lasting quality trailer wiring then I would highly recommend these products based upon lots of research on my part before i made this purchase. Fast shipping too and a follow-up e-mail to see if I am satisfied...nice touch for a change and I will be a repeat customer for sure...Thanks :) Bryant

Excellent quality wiring socket. Made my life so much easier

by:

7 pin remote receptacle worked great with my 5th wheel.

by:

Product was exactly as described, shipped quickly, and was what i expected. Thanks etrailer.com!

by:

Good solid cord and plenty of it. I didn't like how the wire colors were labeled on cap and not standard wiring. i.e. Yellow is usually Left turn Green right turn etc. The Brown is labeled as right turn and green is running or something to that effect. That doesn't hurt the functionality. But if I have to service it in 10 years it will require further testing than normal.

by:

Good product and good price. I have used several of these over the years.

by:

Great service as always from etrailer

by:

Very heavy duty. Lots of insulation on the wires. Very satisfied.

by:

Well made but I needed a 9' for my long bed, so returning for a longer length.

If you need a 9 foot long 7 blade plug and lead wiring connector, I recommend Bargmann part # 50-87-009.

no problems, great

by:

A 5 star product but the color of the wires may make sense to someone but is not what any of my vehicles use. The product is nice but doesn't use common identification wire colors. So don't connect just by wire color. Otherwise a great value. Very heavy well made piece.

Still working great good material

  • Recommended 6-Way Harness for 2016 Jeep Wrangler Being Flat Towed
Starting with your 2016 Jeep Wrangler I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 to wire it up for flat towing. This kit includes the wiring and diodes needed to wire the vehicle so that it accepts the tail light signals from the RV during travel. Also included is the 6-Way connector that gets mounted at the front and a coiled 6-Way to 7-Way adapter that connects it to the RV. I have attached an installation video that you can use for reference. Then...

  • Adding 7-Way Connector in Bed of 2015 Silverado with Existing Wiring Harness
We have a couple of 7-Way trailer connectors that will work for you to add a connector in the bed of your truck using the blunt-cut end harness already under your truck. If the existing wiring harness is long enough to reach up to the inside of the bed, you can use a connector like the Pollak Black Plastic, 7-Pole, RV Blade-Style Trailer Socket, Vehicle End # PK12-707E that will install directly onto the blunt-cut ends of the wiring harness. If the wiring harness on our truck does not...

  • Standard And traditional Wiring Configurations For 7-Way Trailer Connectors
There are traditional and standard wiring configurations and that can be frustrating when working with electrical connectors. We try to always remind customers to check wiring for function and not to rely on the color of the wires for that reason. The standard connectors are typically wired for fifth wheel and travel trailers and the traditional is typically used for utility and cargo trailers. I have attached a couple drawings that show the wiring configurations for standard, traditional,...

  • Recommend Vehicle Side 7-Way Connector with Wiring Protection
The 7-Way Super Sealed Connector w/7' Cable - Car End # 50-87-007 is a great cable but you are correct that you would need about 6 inches behind the connector for a hard turn in the cable. For your application, I recommend the 5th Wheel and Gooseneck7-Way Pre-Wired Car Connector, 7' Lead # 20023. If you don't need as long a connector, you can use the Hopkins Endurance Quick-Install 7-Way Trailer Connector with Universal Pigtail Harness - Vehicle End # HM47210 which is the factory style...

  • Recommended 7-Way Wiring Connection For 2001 Ford F-350
If you have the factory 7-way on your 2011 Ford F-350 then you will need the Replacement Multi-Tow 7-Way & 4 Pole Trailer Connector # 74682. For your 7-Way Super Sealed Connector w/7' Cable - Car End # 50-87-007 there isn't an adapter. It would need to be hardwired and for full function you'd need # 5506 if you don't have a factory wiring harness of any kind.

  • What Size Wire Gauges Does The Bargman 7-Way Vehicle Side Connector # 50-87-004 Use?
The 7-Way Super Sealed Connector # 50-87-004 uses 14 gauge wires for lighting(yellow, green, brown and red) 10 gauge wire for power(white and black) and 12 gauge wiring for the brakes(blue) . We also have this harness available in a 7' length # 50-87-007 if you need more than the 4' the other harness gives you.

  • What Gauge Wire Is Needed To Be Ran From A Brake Controller To My 1993 GMC C/K Series Pickup
The black and blue wiring that comes from the brake controller is 12 gauge so you will need butt connector # DW05745-5 to hook them correctly to the vehicle, and for the red and white wire they're both 16 gauge wire so you will need butt connector # DW05744-5. To make your 4 flat wire harness on your 1993 GMC C/K Series Pickup you would need wiring # ETBC7. This will adapt your 4 flat into a 7 round plug and four flat, which will provide the wires necessary to hook up to your controller...

  • Replacement 7-way Connector With 5 Wiring Harness For 2001 Ford E250 XLT
I have a universal option for you, but the only replacement 7-way connector confirmed to fit your 2001 Ford E250 XLT Van is the Reese Multi-Plug Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 7-Way and 4-Way Flat Trailer Connectors # 74682 which has a harness that is roughly 12" long. Since you are needing a harness that is 5' I recommend using the 7-Way Super Sealed Connector w/7' Cable - Car End # 50-87-007 which has a 7' cord that can be cut to the length needed for your van, but will need...
