Recommend Vehicle Side 7-Way Connector with Wiring Protection
Question:
It looks great but, on the pics and video it looks like: 1 The boot is hard, inflexible 2 the boot cannot be removed or easily shortened 3 I’d need about 6” of clear space behind the connector before the cord can easily turn Am I correct? I’m looking for a connector w/cable like this but I need the cable to bend without a long straight requirement. Thanks!

The 7-Way Super Sealed Connector w/7' Cable - Car End # 50-87-007 is a great cable but you are correct that you would need about 6 inches behind the connector for a hard turn in the cable. For your application, I recommend the 5th Wheel and Gooseneck7-Way Pre-Wired Car Connector, 7' Lead # 20023.
If you don't need as long a connector, you can use the Hopkins Endurance Quick-Install 7-Way Trailer Connector with Universal Pigtail Harness - Vehicle End # HM47210 which is the factory style connector and will allow your to run wires without boot restrictions. You can then use a wire loom like # 39035 to protect your wires.
