The waterproof construction of this light makes it ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. The housing and lens are sonically sealed together to create a single unit, which means that water will not get into the light and damage the diodes or circuit board.
A P2-rated light produces a 45-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 90 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be seen straight on, but it cannot be seen clearly from the side. So this type of light can be used as either a side marker light or a clearance light, but it cannot function as both. If you need both functions, then you must install 2 separate lights on your trailer - one as a front or rear clearance light and one as a side marker light.
Surface-mount trailer lights install using a flange or bracket with mounting holes. These lights lay flat against the trailer surface and only require a small, often pre-existing hole, for wiring. Mounting hardware is used to secure the light to the trailer.

Today we're going to take a look at the four inch round LED stop turn and tail trailer light with the reflex flange. Now this round tail light will provide the stop, turn and tail functions. The built-in reflector on the flange here removes the need for a separate reflector on your trailer and it is a P2 rated light, which will produce a 90 degree beam pattern. It's a nice durable polycarbonate housing and lens. Sonically sealed waterproof housing and lens unit makes this submersible. It is a red lens over four white LEDs and what's nice is these LEDs make great replacements for incandescent lights because they'll last 50 times longer.
They're more efficient because they'll provide brighter light with less power output and of course no bulbs to replace, no brittle filaments to break, and it does come with a lifetime warranty on the LEDs.This light is compatible with 12 volt DC systems. it is a surface mount to the trailer with this built-in mounting flange. Now the hardware to install this is not included. It does include this gasket already installed on the back. And you can see the light as a three wire design.
It hardwires to the trailer. The black wire is for your taillights, red wires for your stop and turn and your white is for your ground. I am going to, at the end of this video, hook this up to some power and show you how bright the light is. This light is DOT, Department of Transportation, compliant.A few specs on it. Again, the diameter is four inches, which is from this edge to this edge.
There's your four inch diameter. Power draw at 12 volts for the stop and turn signal is 0.160 amps. On the taillight it's 0.008 amps. So what we're going to do now is we'll go ahead and hook up our taillights. Go ahead and hook up our stop and turn, which is the red and then the white is our ground.
We'll go ahead and turn the power off and I'll go ahead and turn it back on and you could see the light come on. You can see the four LEDs. What I'm going to do is go ahead and turn off the overhead lights and there you can see the light. And then when you apply your brakes, you can see how much brighter it gets. And then if you put on your turn signals, it's going to be the same way. It's brighter and flashes.Go ahead and turn off our power. Turn back on our overhead lights. But that should do it for the review on the four inch round LED stop turn and tail trailer light with the reflex flange.
