I have not installed yet, but appears to be a very solid and well built hitch. Came with instructions and hardware to install on my 66 C-10.

Hitch has been great. It is on my 66 Chevy C-10. I had to remount my spare as the hitch got in the way, but that was no big deal

by:
1967 Chevrolet C/K Series Pickup

The quality of the CURT hitch is superb. Installation was s bit strange. One hole on each side lined up. I had to drill the other four. Not a big deal. The weird part is that the center section of the bumper where the license plate goes had to have 3/4 inch cut from the bottom and the license moved up 3/4 inch to clear the receiver.
Someone without a good workshop would not have been able to install this hitch.
This pic is before the license was moved up.

Awesome. I have pulled a 14 box trailer with my 67 Chevy C10 several times. No issues at all.

by:
1969 Chevrolet C/K Series Pickup

Installed this on my 69' C-10 LWB about 1yr ago and have had very good success with it. As I recall it was a little more difficult because I set it forward a little more than normal and had to drill a couple holes. It wound up being almost a hidden hitch. Hitch appears to be well built with good looking welds. I have used this to tow 22' Ski boat on numerous occasions without any issues.

After another year the hitch is still performing as it should with no issues.

I installed this hitch receiver on m1971 c10, 8 ft. bed truck. The receiver is about an inch narrower than my frame railed. None of the bolt holes lined up. I did not flush the receiver with the license plate because the hooks for the chain would have been under the bumper. It is a sturdy and well receiver. The reason I gave it a 3 was because of the install process.

I apologize for the annoying install. Sometimes with older vehicles it can be hard especially if the hitch receiver was flexed. Here is more info about flex:

Product and hardware are of good quality, only 1 hole on each side of my trucks frame lined up, so I had to drill more holes in the frame and line it up the best I could, also it didn’t clear the license plate frame on the bumper so I had to trim that about an inch, but in the end it looks good and feels secure, so I’m happy, I haven’t towed with it yet but I torqued the bolts up with a breaker bar so I’m sure it will be fine for a small boat.

When installing a trailer hitch like part # 13028 it is necessary to use a torque wrench to get the bolts to the right tightness. It is important to tighten bolts to the specified foot lbs in the instructions to avoid failure. Many auto parts stores lend out tools so you will not have to buy one in most cases.

by:

First let start off by saying that from the time I ordered the hitch receiver, and the time it arrived at my doorstep was quite timely and much faster than other sites I have ordered parts from. Directions were simple enough to understand and not much of a read. Only problems I came across was the previous holes that were drilled into the frame did not match with the holes on the receiver (previous owner must have had a different style receiver installed). I wasn’t too upset at this as this was something I expected from a truck that is nearly 50 years old; simply fixed this by drilling new holes, which if I remember correctly, was stated to be expected during install. Along with this, I had to remove the exhaust tail pipes as they were in the way, but this shouldn’t be a problem if your vehicle has the exhaust directed out the side instead of straight back like mine. The directions state to use a 1/2 inch drill bit for the holes, but I found this to be too tight. I would recommend using a 5/8 inch bit or shimmying the 1/2 inch bit around while you drill. I would recommend you get a buddy to help, but in a case like mine, simple vice grips sufficed to hold the hitch receiver in place while I drilled. Should take about an hour with help and sharp drill bits. Overall was a good experience.

Chevrolet C/K Series Pickup

Installed on my 86 Chevy C10. Had to modify a few things but not terrible. There were some brackets that connected the bumper to the frame that needed to be removed. I took a picture of the bracket loosely attached for reference. Also had to drill out some rivets in a piece of metal that connects the two frame rails. I took a picture of me pointing at the spot where the rivet was. So had to drill 4 holes total. Overall not too difficult and is pretty well hidden under the truck.

Product is as described. Got perfect on my 1987 Chevy
R/10 short bed 2wd. On my application I had to drill the
two holes closet to the cab. Easy install. Maybe 15 minutes max.

Fit Nice on my 1964 chevy C 10 step side. tucked up nicely. had drill a couple of holes. very happy!!!

by:

Nice high quality, easy to install, fast shipping, would recommend this hitch for 67-72 C10 truck. Exact fit to frame, and even used 2 existing holes. If hitch was made about 1 inch narrower would not even require any drilling. Thank you.

Great product at a great price. Comes with all hardware and detailed instructions. Easy installation with a little drilling. Looks good and works great. I highly recommend this product to anyone. My 1973 Chevy is happy to have the addition.

Fast & accurate service. I installed the hitch on my 1972 C10. I used 2 existing holes and had to drill 4 new ones. I also had to shorten the license plate bracket to clear the receiver. It took longer to install than listed but I expected it based on other reviews. I'm pleased with the final result.

This Hitch Receiver was perfect for our 1972 GMC Sierra. Following directions, and making a slight modification to our license plate holder, it bolted right up! Thank you etrailer.com!

Adam was so much help. It is so nice to work with a professional/company that is very knowledgeable about the products they sell. The whole ordering process was very quickly completed over the phone in a very professional manner. I have purchased from etrailer twice with great success. I highly recommend etrailer.

by:

Received the hitch in a couple of days of ordering, well packed. As the instructions stated, approximately one hour to install. It would not have taken that long, (about 50 minutes), but the old receiver had to be removed first.
Well built, I believe I'll get as long a service out of this one as the last. Reason for replacement, could not remove hitch from old receiver, it was so rusted in, been in the receiver for 30 years, and I needed an adjustable hitch installed.
I'll be sure to keep this one lubed some.
Sorry, unable to post a picture, looks like the advertisement though.
This was my second purchase from etrailer, will not hesitate to buy from again, should I need what they have.

Hello JimWhen you installed this hitch, you mentioned that it was adjustable, was it adjustable by the width? Because Im not seeing where the adjustments are on the picture.

Etrailer Expert

Patrick B.

9/15/2014

Jim meant that he needed to use an adjustable hitch or ball mount like part # CAB-UM. His old ball mount was frozen in the receiver of the hitch on the vehicle. The receiver hitch, the part that mounts to the vehicle, is not going to be adjustable.

  • Will Spare Tire Stay on After Installation of Curt Trailer Hitch on 1969 Chevy C/K Truck
The answer really depends on how your spare tire is mounted. Since the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C14082 is designed to fit on frame rails with 34" spacing, if the spare on your 1969 Chevy C/K truck fits directly in between the frame rails without interference then you should be able to. There isn't any way to know for absolute certain due to the age of these trucks, which is why this hitch as well as the Curt # 13028 are inconclusive in regards to whether or not your spare tire can...
