Curt Hitch Recommendation for a 1965 Chevy C10 Short Bed
Question:
I see in the QandA that Curt part 13028 fits a short bed 65 Chevy c-10 pick-up. My question is about the load range for this vehicle. The plate on the truck says 5000gvw and the curb weight is about 3500. Since I am doing a frame off restoration/modification what range of trailer tongue weight and trailer weight should I build the suspension, brakes, etc to haul without overloading the fundamental design of the vehicle?

I would recommend you stick with whatever the original capacity for truck was just to be on the safe side. There are too many unknown variables that would make it very difficult for you to upgrade the vehicle so that it can tow more than it was originally designed for.
Once you get the truck going the Curt Hitch part # 13028 would be the correct hitch to use.
For trailer wiring you would want part # 18252. To pick out the correct rise/drop ball mount for you setup check out the FAQ article I attached to the right that covers this topic.
