Well made hitch, fit well on my 97 F350 DRW with a DMI bumper. Install went well, only thing that hindered me upon installing was the directions noted to use a certain hole in the frame but if I would of done that the hitch would of been recessed too far in and wouldn't be properly aligned. Thankfully I just used a hole further up and all was well, only reason for a 4/5

by:

Perfect fit on my 1996 F250 with a larger rear bumper.

I have a 79’ w400 dodge dually and went to numerous hitch stores none of which offered this hitch “ class5” unless they “special “ ordered it and the wait would be at least 2-3 weeks! BS. So I got I line and found B&W, ordered it, was delivered to my door in 4 days. Easy mounting. Already pulled my usual heavy load. Very happy with my experience. I’m ordering my next one soon as well. Ty B$W for no BS

by:

This hitch is well made, however for my truck the bumper and spare tire had to be removed to install. I have removed the hitch to reinstall the original bumper and get the space back in the truck bed. If someone wants a hitch I have one for sale

I checked to see if we offer any hitches that will not require the spare tire to be repositioned andor modified.

The B&W Heavy-Duty Trailer Hitch Receiver Item #BWHDRH25198 worked perfect for my 1995 F350 with a drop bumper.

by:
2018 Ford F-350 Super Duty

The B&W hitch was installed on a 1997 F350 in Feb 2018. The installation was not as easy as described, four holes had to be drilled in the frame. For some reason the mounting holes had not been drilled out by Ford, who knows this may have been one of the last 97 F350 built. The hitch has worked great with no problems. I've pulled an RV over 10k miles without a hiccup along with utility trailers, great quality hitch. etrailer delivered the hitch in just a few days from ordering and their customer service is wonderful. I would definitely purchase this hitch again.

by:
Ford F-350 Super Duty

Installed on a 2wd 1993 Ford F-350 dually. I'd been looking for a hitch that would fit without requiring me to modify or replace my deep drop bumper. This B&W hitch worked perfectly.
I have ordered from Etrailer several times and the products always arrive before the scheduled delivery date. The hitch was well packaged and in perfect condition, all the needed assembly parts were in the box along with easy to read and follow directions.
The truck frame was not pre-drilled for a hitch so I bought new drill bits, charged up the big drill and 2 hours later we're ready to tow.

This thing is stout! I had to drill all 6 holes, using a small pilot bit, then a 1/2". I installed myself which wasn't terribly difficult. I used a hydraulic jack to hold the hitch in place to mark the locations to drill. Then I lowered the hitch, drilled holes, and again used the jack to hold the hitch in place while installing the bolts. I have a 6" drop bumper. I initially thought this would be too low, but its perfect for my application.

by:
Ford F-250 Super Duty

Installed hitch on 1986 Ford F250. I had to drill all 6 mounting holes on my truck. It took about 1 1/2 hours to install. The online instructional video of a similar model with a drop bumper helped. Hitch is very well made.

1985 Chevrolet C/K Series Pickup

Install went pretty easy on my 1985 GMC C30 Dually. No drilling was required!

Note: When you torque the bolts make sure to do it from the bolt head and not the nut side. If you torque the nut you will destroy the lock washer under it. Depending on the size of your torque wrench you may need a crows foot for the two rear most bolts.

1979 GMC C/K Series Pickup

This is a great, heavy duty receiver that took less than an hour for me to put it together and installed it on the vehicle with absolutely zero issues. I couldn't be happier. This weekend I'll be pulling a dump trailer with gravel that way I can put her to the test.

Fit my 85 Chevy dually perfectly! No drilling, no welding, just bolt on. Great price and fast delivery. Very happy with my purchase !

Exactly as advertised. Perfect fit out of the box. Works well.

by:
1996 Ford F-250 and F-350

After receiving the hitch and reviewing the instructions, I knew the hitch would be too heavy to manage by myself. After drilling all the holes, I loosely mounted each side on each frame rail. This made it easy to mount the center section. Once in place, I tighten all the bolts. The receiver ended up a little lower than expected but the bumper hid most of the hitch. I am very happy how it turned out.

The hitch still looks new. The finish is great.

by:
1985 FordF-150, F-250, F-350

The product fit perfect. I had to remove the spare tire rack but then the product said you would. Took two of us about 1 1/2 hours total time to install. We had to drill six holes in the frame. Make sure you have a high quality steel bit. Drilling the holes was the most difficult part.

Very nice hitch. Installed it on my 91 f350 dually crew cab. Some drilling involved but not difficult with a good drill and bits. Have pulled my 28ft, 7000lb travel trailer with no trouble. Hauled my 22ft flatbed trailer with an extended cab truck on it, handled it fine. Excellent hitch, great price too. Thanks etrailer!

Ford F-350 Super Duty

This hitch seems well made. I just installed it today on a 1992 Ford F350 that has a cummins 6BT with 4-inch exhaust. Only the rear most holes lined up. The other 2 pre-existing holes on each side were from a much smaller hitch. Thus I had to drill 4 holes total. I also worked alone, so I did as most other reviewers and assembled the hitch as instructed, then used a floor jack to raise it up to the two rear bolts and installed the spacer, washer, nut. Then used c-clamps to hold rear tabs while I readjusted the floor jack. Using a 36-inch piece of 4x4, I supported the rear of the hitch with the floor jack. This allowed me to remove the c-clamps, so I could drill the rear holes. Once I had the rear holes hardware installed, I could drop the jack and move it out of the way to work on middle holes. This is why I mention the exhaust on the truck. The bracket holding the exhaust and the large diameter of the exhaust were both in the way of drilling the middle hole on the passenger side. When I unbolted the exhaust bracket, there was just enough play in the exhaust pipe that I was able to have my wife pull it aside while I drilled the hole and installed hardware. All in all it took 2-hours.

Now the down side, my hitch was packed only in an etrailer.com box and all hardware was in clear ziplock bags. The bags had torn open in shipment and some lock washers were missing and a spacer block was missing. Etrailer.com support is great and replacements are on the way, but I cannot finish the install and torque everything down until the remaining hardware comes. Minor issue and not a reflection of the quality of the product.

by:

Worked great. The hardest part was ordering the correct hitch for fitting my truck. I recall making a diagram and providing measurements and based on that, the nice folks helped me choose which ones would fit. Mine was a bit odd because it had a home-made bumper on it and thus required accurate measurements and calculations in choosing a hitch.

Thanks!! Just what I needed!!

1975 Chevrolet C/K Series Pickup

Received this today 01-19-16 after ordering last Thursday I believe. Was able to install in around an hour, and only had to drill two 1/2" holes for the mounting brackets. Was very easy to install, even with just one person. I'm writing this review the night of the install, so I haven't yet had a chance to use it just yet, but I'm sure I will not be disappointed, I've have B&W hitches and receivers in the past and have always had an excellent experience. I highly recommend this product!

by:
2010 Honda Pilot

Great people at e trailer. Very helpful and actually seem to like what they do and understand their products and the applications. The B&W was the perfect answer for my needs. It fit (after the normal and expected minor bumper mods) great. Don't expect an installation like the 10 min video. More like 2 days for me. But most of the time and knuckle busting was due to the fact that my old drop bumper w/ 10K ball hitch had to be completely dismantled and was (after 20 yrs of salt roads) mostly a grinder, torch, hammer nightmare. Don't count on using existing frame holes either. Then imagine drilling 6 pilot holes, followed by 6 1/2 holes in 1/4 inch steel frame rails while laying on your back working over head.
End result is worth it though, just that knowing what I know now, maybe it would be a job I'd farm out next time. BTW, my truck is 97 f250 HD w/ a 10" laverne drop bumper/hitch.

Etrailer has been good to me. Often less expensive than what I can find locally. Etrailer also has what I’m looking for and gets it to me quicker that trying to source it locally.

The B&W hitch I purchased was the first hitch that has had a questionable fit. In the past I’ve always order Curt. I was able to make the B&W fit, after 3-4 mock ups, and trying different positions

  • Class V Trailer Hitch for 1972 Ford F250 with Barden Bumper
I am unfamiliar with the Barden Bumper and in my research, I could not find any specific information regarding the Barden Bumper. Our trailer hitches are not tested with aftermarket bumpers. We have two bumpers that have been determined to be a fit for your truck with a factory bumper. The # BWHDRH25122 is for standard and step bumpers and the # BWHDRH25198 is for deep drop bumpers. I recommend measuring from your frame to the bottom of your bumper to know how much distance you will need...

The B&W Heavy-Duty Trailer Hitch Receiver # BWHDRH25122 that will fit your 1986 Chevy K20 will measure 5.438" from the top of the frame brackets to the top of the receiver. If this is looking like it will not be enough to clear the bottom of your bumper, the # BWHDRH25198 may be the better option. This will measure 7.906" when also measured from the top of the frame brackets to the top of the receiver. Both of these American made Class V hitches will have the same 2" receiver opening as...

It sounds like you've got the deep drop bumper on your 1996 Ford F-350, so the correct B&W Class V hitch for your truck is the # BWHDRH25198. It sounds like they potentially got you the # BWHDRH25122 to start, which is for use on the standard bumpers or step bumpers instead of the 12" deep drop that you've got. • What Heavy Duty Hitch with 2" Receiver is Available for a 2020 GMC Sierra 3500
I have a solution for you but the # BWHDRH25198 is not going to fit on the 2020 GM Sierra 3500. Instead, I recommend using the Curt # C15400 which will have a comparable capacity and is also a 2" receiver. I really like Curt hitches because of the quality of the powder coating, which is important because it's going to fight off rust/corrosion much better than some of the other options.

  • Hitch fit for 1997 Ford F-250 With Deep Drop Bumper
The drop of the B & W Class V # BWHDRH25198 is 7-3/8 inches. That represents the distance from the underside of the frame member where the hitch mounts to the top of the receiver tube. If that isn't sufficient to clear your bumper, the Curt Class V # C15511 has an 8 inch drop. The bottom of the receiver tube would be 3 inches lower than that for either hitch. According to the diagram you kindly provided, you need a drop of at least 6-1/2 inches, so either of the two hitches WILL clear...

Yes, the B&W Class V Trailer Hitch, # BWHDRH25198, will install on a 1977 Ford F-350, but it was designed for models with a 10 inch deep drop step bumper.
