This completely hidden, custom-fit hitch installs behind your vehicle's rear bumper so that the cross tube is always out of sight. Receiver easily removes when not in use. Aluminum and steel alloy construction is durable and eco-friendly.

Specs:
The EcoHitch Stealth trailer hitch is designed to be completely out of sight when you're not towing. The hitch's cross tube bolts onto your vehicle's frame, behind your rear bumper. No drilling or welding is required. Once installed, the cross tube will be completely concealed and only the receiver will be visible beneath your bumper. But unlike other hitches with hidden cross tubes, the Stealth goes one further. You can remove the receiver portion of the hitch for a completely out-of-sight setup. To mount the receiver, just insert it up into the access port that is built into the cross tube. Secure the receiver to the hitch with the supplied bolt and washers. When you're done towing, just remove the receiver portion to return your vehicle to its clean, factory appearance.
With a combination of aerospace-grade aluminum, steel, and stainless steel, each EcoHitch is made of a strong metal alloy that will stand the test of time. The lightweight alloy is composed of recycled materials. Traditional steel hitch manufacturing can use coal or oil, which can contribute to harmful gas emissions. The EcoHitch's recycled materials limit the carbon footprint during manufacturing, so you get a sturdy trailer hitch while also helping the environment.
This EcoHitch trailer hitch is tested for durability and sturdiness. Using Finite Elemental Analysis (FEA), individual points of stress on the hitch can be detected and remedied. Designers can accurately test the hitch to ensure that it will meet or exceed SAE J684 standards. The EcoHitch Stealth trailer hitch is carefully researched and strength tested for a durable, high-quality hitch that can resist damage while on the road.

This completely hidden, custom-fit hitch installs behind your vehicle's rear bumper so that the cross tube is always out of sight. Receiver easily removes when not in use. Aluminum and steel alloy construction is durable and eco-friendly.Great quality. Reasonable price. Relatively easy installation. No special tools needed. Looks great on the Prius. I use it only for a bike rack. Prius' are not the vehicle you want to use to tow a trailer! The 2" receiver is more stable for bike racks in my opinion.
Well, in the time between ordering the product and receiving it (which is very quickly given etrailer's excellent service), the video describing the installation on my Prius Prime (mine's 2021) has been scrubbed from the etrailer website. There is even a Q&A describing an available video, but when I ask about it, they say it is no longer available. This makes me think there is a problem with this install that they aren't telling me.
2021 toyota prius prime installation was easy, video help a lot. Thanks.
Not easy to install, but that is due more to the car where I installed it more than the hitch itself. The car is a 2018 Prius Prime. There is a lot of plastic shielding you have to remove first, and the plastic fasteners for the shielding are hard to remove and mostly break when you remove them Getting the bolts that hold the hitch to the frame lined up and the the threads started is quite difficult, even with another person to help.
Works great, minimal corrosion. Sits high enough to back up over most curbs.
Would be nice if the removal pin / bolt was outside the bottom body panel.

Still working great, no issues with use or corrosion. I just leave the hitch on, never really needed to remove it.
Overall, I am satisfied with the purchase except it is a bit pricey. I have purchased this to carry my mountain bike with Kuat NV 2.0 Base and that combo seems to be working perfectly. Only issue I had was during the installation that not only a cutout had to be made on the center plastic piece to accommodate the main part of the hitch (the part that gets inserted into hitch opening) but also a cut needs to be made to the driver side piece (it could be full cut out or just two cuts so that it can be bent out of the way, as I did). I was able to install the hitch by myself without raising the rear of the vehicle with my small body frame. Also the combined weight of the hitch and the metal portion of the bumper made installing rather challenging but once a bolt is inserted on one side so that those are hanging, lifting the the other side was relatively easy. Also once installation is complete, the distance difference in extent of the bumper and the opening of the hitch is about 1/4". This information is critical in choosing the right bike rack for the current Prius Prime model (mine is 2017).

Very happy with it so far.
Hitch worked well, price was decent, delivery was punctual. I am quite satisfied with the ease of installation, as they recommend in the video it would be much easier with two people but I was able to do it alone with a little bit of finesse. Had the hitch installed in under 2 hours.
Works great on my 2018 Prius for holding very heavy bikes.
Very well made, I dropped 1 star because the chain loops are well up under the bumper and inaccessible. I had a local man weld a chain loop plate to the receiver. Look for videos of how to install the hitch. Note that the instructions say there are 5 clips holding the bumper cover on (on a 2018 Prius Prime), there are 6. They are symmetrical but only 2 are easily seen, you have to find the others by feel. Additionally I did not find it necessary to lower the muffler and did the job alone. Also note that the underbody panel needs to be cut out wider to the passenger side to be able to put the bolt in that attaches the receiver to the hitch frame.
If you are going to install a wire harness do it before the bumper cover and underbody panels are put back on!! The connection for the passenger side lights is up above the hitch frame behind the bumper, not over in the rear quarter panel as it is on the driver's side.
videos of installations were very helpful. i recomended to my daughter that she buy from etrailer, she did and we installed her hitch on her car the other day, again the videos of installation on her car were helpful for her installation as well
The good first: The receiver is beefier than I expected and it was a perfect fit. Now my rant: The paper instructions sucked. The photos were almost worthless, B/W with poor contrast. (Please add a link to a high quality downloadable PDF version of the instructions, preferably with color photos.) Fortunately, the installation video was very helpful. The video wasn't easy to find, for now try searching "BGG1oP_dsDM" on[line]. etrailer.com should at least add a link to their own video on their product page. I strongly urge DIYers to watch the entire video before ordering. Did you know that a 2021 Prius Prime doesn't even have a jack? If you're willing to spend this much money for the EcoHitch product, you can probably afford to pay someone with a floor jack or car lift to install it!
The bottom two holes (on both sides) of the existing bumper mounting plates are larger than the tops. The supplied flat washers are only marginally large enough to work. They are very wimpy compared to Toyota's original washers which are permanently attached to the shorter bolts.
I love this hitch on my 2019 Prius Prime Advance. This is overkill for a Prius but if you want a 2" receiver this is the best option over the adapter. It's now probably the strongest part of my vehicle. The quality is excellent and as solid as a hitch can be. My bike rack with my bikes have virtually no rocking.
etrailer has a video for installing a 1 1/4" hitch on a 2017 Prius Prime and EcoHitch have videos on installing on a 2017-2020 Prius prime but I found etrailer's video to be much more helpful for removal and I did not have to lower my muffler as in EcoHitch's video. That being said I was not able to remove all the inner harness clamps no matter how hard I tried as shown in etrailer's video. I took a different approach by removing the two outer harness clamps then pushed out the outer bumper facia lock tabs and then pushed out the second set of facia lock tabs with the clamps attached as far out as they could. I then removed the bumper beam which will now clear the bumper facia. After removing the bumper beam I was then able to easily remove the remaining harness clamps. I then followed EcoHitch's video for installation with one additional step which was cutting a slot on the left under cover so it can go over the hitch as shown in one of my photos.
Before you can go drive test your install you need to turn your Intelligent Clearance Sonar to Off otherwise you may not be able to drive in reverse when you're transporting your bikes or when you're bike rack is in the stow position. Your Prius will be constantly locking up it's brakes thinking there is a stationary object behind you. What a surprise that was!
If you want to carry heavy bikes spend the extra money and buy this instead of the 1 1/4 hitch. In addition, if you don't plan to use your rack for a long period of time you can easily remove the receiver so it won't be some critters home.
Excellent hitch for 2021 Prius prime. We recently went to mountain bike park with three heavy bikes on the rack, had no issues with it. Only additional thing I had to do during installation that is not on the manual was, I had to cut off driver side bottom cover a little to clear the hitch frame that hits the bottom cover, without cutting it I was not able to button up the cover, could be a issue only on 2021 model? It is little pricy but you get the 2” receiver and able to remove the receiver so nothing will be seen from the back. I will highly recommend this hitch,
Over the years, I have purchased 2" Eco Hitches for my 2006,2014 and 2018 Prius cars. I installed each hitch and its associated wiring myself.
I am nearly 76 years old and a scientist/engineer, not an auto mechanic.
I very much like Torklift (mfrs of hitch) as they are down to earth honest people. I considered buying the hitch directly from them.
But I chose etrailer as their delivery is extraordinary.
Each company offers excellent service help. If you don't understand something, each company will respond. Perhaps etrailer made an incremental improvement in trying to get information to me in the shortest time period.
The wiring kit is especially important as far as I am concerned. I very much desired to isolate my trailer power from power servicing any of the Prius car components. Today's cars are very complex and sensitive to
impedance mismatches and such. etrailer's wiring kit enabled me to isolate these two electrical systems. Their video or still images helped
a great deal in the installation of the kit.
etrailer understands service and they understand quality. I will definitely
purchase my fourth hitch from them when the time comes.
A year in the hitch is working fine. No problems. I would buy the hitch again.
I just received my package. Is already get damage.

This hitch is definitely a fit for a 2021 Toyota Prius Prime. I checked with our video team and we have not had a previous video on a 2021 Prime, however we do have one on hitch part # 24966 for a 2017 Prime that the Q and A might have been referring to. The installation is similar and would be helpful. You can see it in the link below. There is a video coming for this hitch in the future so please stay tuned.
