Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

While the hitch appears to be built very solidly, I am disappointed in the quality of the powder coated finish. The product was received with multiple chips in the powder coating. Also, the weight label was applied crooked resulting in a very sloppy appearance. Now, instead of installing my hitch today, I have to research the best way to protect the exposed metal. It's unreasonable to have to repair a product straight out of the box.

Still love the Draw-Tite hitch. Is perfect and we use it all the time to tranport our bikes wtih a Kuat rack. WOrks perfectly.

Great price, excellent videos to help with the installation.

by:

My hitch was easy to install. Everything fit as expected. And my trailer follows me wherever I go. The electronics installed per the instructions without a hitch. (No pun intended.)What more could I ask for?

by:

Perfect fit for my 2014 Camry. Very happy with my purchase. I took to my local body shop and only took them less than 3 hours to install. Very sturdy and doesn’t stick out. Looks clean.

2017 Toyota Camry

I got a new 2017 Camry and an avid cyclist. Before getting the hitch, I would have to take apart my wheels just to fit it in the trunk. This got old and annoying really quick. I found the Draw-tite trailer receiver hitch on etrailer.com. I made sure it would fit and got it. I had my local mechanic shop install it watching the video vs the manual, because that was confusing. It fit perfectly flushed and clean. I put a hitch mounted bike rack and now my life is that much happier!

I love how convenient it is for hauling my bikes. It definitely beats having a roof rack.

by:

Very glad I ordered this hitch. Installation was a little complicated due to my 2018 Avalon Limited's exhaust setup and little rust getting in the way. The hitch itself has been phenomenal in every way. What I love the most is that it's SUPER flush with the lower bumper. I hate other hitches that extend too low past the bumper! It's strong, and never once did I question its integrity. I have 2 mountain bikes that I carry on it, and it's been fantastic. I will definitely purchase another one for my other cars.

by:
2014 Toyota Camry

The hitch came with chipped powder coat out of the box. Not from shipping because it was already rusted. etrailer reimbursed me xx dollars to purchase a bottle of spray paint and do it myself...

Just a bit disappointed. I paid for a new hitch not one that can potentially rust more in the future. This is the 2nd hitch for a 2nd vehicle within the year -first one was flawless.

The hitch itself fit well. Bumper gap was a bit larger than I like. Bike rack bottomed out on a not so steep driveway my lowered 2004 wrx had no issues with

Thank you for your review. I apologize about the chips in your product. I am glad Customer Service addressed it. If you would like to raise your bike rack to avoid bottoming out, take a look at product # 3593.

2013 Toyota Camry

The trailer hitch appears to be of good quality. I'm giving this 2 stars because, my Trailer Hitch arrived scuffed up, there is paint missing and scuffed up. Now I have to find some paint and buff out the damage and paint it before installing it or it's gonna rust right away when winter comes and the salt contacts it. Not impressed.

I will have our customer service team reach out to you. I would suggest touching up the hitch with a rust resistant paint that you will have on hand for regular hitch maintenance.

2014 Toyota Camry

Great hitch and my 2014 Camry SE did not require any trimming. I installed this myself with ease. I used a jack and a piece of 2x4 and the hitch balanced perfectly on the wood and I was able to maneuver it into position without a problem. Shipping was great. One trick, leave the fish wire on until after you get the hitch up to the car to ensure the bolt doesn’t go up into the frame rail. Everything took less than 2 hours and was very simple.

by:
2012 Toyota Camry

etrailer delivered everything quickly and the instructions were very good. Installed this on my 2012 Camry to carry a bike rack only, so this hitch was perfect since it doesn't include a ball mount or ball. Figuring out how to drill the one inch holes in each frame rail was the hardest part - there are not a lot of metal bits that big available - my solution was to use a Harbor Freight #96275 step drill. All in all a great experience with etrailer.

by:
2012 Toyota Camry

I bought a trailer hitch and wiring harness for a 2104 Camry. The delivery was fast and efficient. The hitch and wiring was as advertised and installed as the etrailer videos portrayed. The bottom trim panel did not need as much adjustment or cutting as expected. Only had to cut out a piece 2 inch wide by 12 inch long and the panel fit nicely.
Was easy to install. Took approximately 4 hours total due to not having a lift
to raise the car to a better working height.
I have bought previously from etrailer and always a pleasant experience.

2014 Toyota Camry

I am a 52 year old female 5 feet tall and 120 lbs and I installed this product on my 2014 Camry SE V6 with dual exhaust and I did it alone with the help of a 1/2 ton jack and some ramps. I used the jack to hold the exhaust and then to raise it back up to refasten it. This was so easy to do and I couldn’t be happier. I also installed the wiring to lights and ran it through the inside of vehicle and then through the firewall. Great product.

by:

So I installed this by myself except needed a pair of hands when lifting to screw the bolts. I used the your video and written instructions to do install. Instructions said it would take 1 hr. I took approx 3 hrs. Jack up car, prep, tools, and clean up metal shavings. Once installed it’s solid.

I just got my hitch installed on my 2014 Camry and it fits & looks perfect.

I also bought the Yakima Bike Rack and it fits the hitch perfectly.

Erika was very helpful and my items arrived in 3 days...

by:

Installation process was just as described! Buy a step bit; it makes drilling the holes for the carriage bolts easy. Pictures show lowered exhaust by 1/2" and use with Kuat Beta

by:

Hitch was well designed.
I appreciared
the installatiob videos. Thanks!
I used a floor jack to raise the hitch (balanced) into place, after drilling appropriate holes.
I used Camry jack to raise the car.
Wiring system works fine after installation.

by:

Great product - holds up well through all kinds of weather. bikes fit great@!

by:
2015 Toyota Camry

Overall this was a easy process. Great price and quick shipping. Videos on etrailer were very helpful. My only complaint is the stickers on the hitch. The weight label was poorly applied and really sticks out.

by:

Installation was easy. Lucky for me on my 2012 Camry SE no trimming of any panel was necessary as the stock one that came on my camry only covered the spare tire compartment. I am the original owner so I can confirm this is the way it came.

by:
2016 Toyota Camry

Very fast shipping thanks. The video helped out a lot for the install. Only problem was the box was damaged and the hitch was sticking through the box. The hitch was missing a little paint. Hope it doesn't rust. Hopefully etralier can secure the hitch in the packaging a little better in the future.

by:
2012 Toyota Camry

Got this yesterday and put it on today myself with the help of the tutorial video specific for my vehicle. It is exactly what I need and for a fraction of the $300 the trailer rental place quoted me. Looks great too, thanks!

by:

Good product. Toughest part of installation was drilling the 2 big holes. No modifications were required.

by:

The hardware works exactly as described. No doubt I would order from them again thank you!

by:
2012 Toyota Camry

The installation of the hitch went very smoothly with the help of the videos included on the site (don’t expect much clear direction with the included instructions in the box). Fit up was extremely nice and the overall quality of the hitch exceeded my expectations.

  • Do Holes have to be Drilled in 2014 Toyota Camry if Trailer Hitch is Just for a Bike Rack
I cannot recommend installing Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 36540 on your 2014 Toyota Camry in any other way other than what is specified in the instructions. If you do it will void the hitch warranty and actually makes the capacity unknown (since it isn't tested in that manner). You also have to consider stability of the hitch. Without all of the fasteners the hitch could move and flex more than it is supposed to and that could damage the hitch and vehicle. The instructions state that a 1...

  • How Far Apart Should the Bolt Holes to Mount a Hitch on a 2013 Toyota Camry Be
Your best bet is going to be to confirm the part number on the spec sticker of the hitch; the Draw-Tite # 36540 and Curt # C12107 are the confirmed hitches we offer for your 2013 Toyota Camry. The distance between the bolt holes on these hitches are all different depending on their positions but they are: 38" apart center on center for holes closest to engine 38-1/4" apart center on center for holes closest to bumper 37-1/4" apart center on center for the middle holes I've also linked...

  • Trailer Hitch Option for 2014 Toyota Camry for Bike Rack
Trailer hitches with 2 inch openings are typically only available for vehicles that have higher towing capacities like trucks and SUVs. For lighter duty vehicles like your 2014 Toyota Camry there are only 1-1/4 inch hitches like the Draw Tite part # 36540. Your best solution would be a new bike rack like the Hollywood Racks RV Rider # HR200Z but there are also hitch adapters like # HTAD you could use as well but these cut the capacity of the hitch they are used in by 50 percent.

Both the Draw-Tite Hitches # 36540 and # 36514 will fit your 2014 Toyota Camry whether it is a hybrid or not. The two part numbers are the same hitch. Either would work well for you since they both will fit your vehicle. If you go with the # 36514 because you want the ball mount and the pin and clip you may also be interested in purchasing a 1-7/8 inch hitch ball part # 19256. • Will Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 36540 Fit a 2012 Toyota Camry SE and Can the Car be Used for Towing
First, if the owners manual states that you cannot tow with the vehicle, then I cannot recommend going against that. If the owners manual is unclear, you will need to contact your Toyota dealer or Toyota directly to determine if the car can be used for towing and, if so, what the capacity is. The Draw-Tite trailer hitch, # 36540, is listed as a fit for all models of the 2012 Toyota Camry, including the SE. It also fits hybrid models. • Recommended Trailer Hitch and Adapter for 2013 Toyota Camry
The trailer hitches that are available for your 2013 Toyota Camry are Class II hitches with 1-1/4 inch receiver openings. This is most likely because the Camry simply does not have the towing or tongue weight capacity that a higher rated trailer hitch (and larger receiver opening) will provide. I recommend installing the Draw-Tite Class II Frame Receiver Hitch # 36540 over the Curt model that is also confirmed to fit your vehicle. This is because unlike Curt, Draw-Tite does not require...

  • Recumbent Trike Carrier Recommendation for a 2014 Toyota Avalon
We have a solution for you. The Hollywood Racks Trike Carrier part # HR1000Z-R-TRKADP will carry a recumbent trike and can fit the Class II hitches like what are available for your 2014 Toyota Avalon. I looked up the towing capacity of your 2014 Toyota Camry with a V6 and it can tow up to 1,225 lbs so as long as the Tracker boat and trailer weighs less than that you'd be fine. You'll need a few things to complete your towing setup.
